HeyGuys, I was blue in that game! So here's some commentary from my perspective :) Since it came up in the commentary: BloodyNival (green) and I did not talk about the game beforehand, but he told me afterwards he wanted to teamup with somebody in a good position until the end (so he did plan on something like this). Obviously I was in an adjacent corner (very important for trade), had good map control and was Spanish. And since yellow was close to him (needed to die sooner rather than later) he decided upon me instead of orange who would have been just as good for the teamup and probably better since he did play a very solid game ;) Really fun game to play especially with the relic gold. Also notice how I snatched Snippy's relics (you can see the blue monks on the map in his base after I got to castle)? He didn't collect them fast enough so I took em. At the beginning I messed up my feudal and took too long to get to castle, so I missed collecting some relics (between yellow & green) that green ultimately snatched up. I have to agree with nilpferd (cocaster) on the overall strategy: Boom up, get relics, make friends, get trade, wall up are all very important in these types of games. I've won a game where people fought and I was allied with everybody for an eternity, just calmly chopping wood everywhere, just by them surrendering in the end because they were running out of res and I still had over 100k wood. Anyways, when I turned my attention to orange and just stood in front of his walls I was actually waiting for my vills to build the forward. Turned out great since he lost ground against grey. I actually forgot about cannon galleons, but they would have been awesome for the push on orange, kinda sad now I missed that opportunity. Now, towards the later part of the game: I went with Bombards because I always thought they pushed safest while still being somewhat mobile compared to trebs. In hindsight though Rams would have been so much better, but ingame I just forgot about them, so whoops again? I never realized that CavArchers are bad in this situation, but I liked the maneuvrability with them being fast and combined with the paladins I could move my army faster towards possible betrayals (while being popped and unable to produce otherwise). I would have liked to produce Conqs, but my castles were all at home, so that was a bummer for me. I retreated my troops from oranges base, to make grey do all the hard work and conserve ressources - probably unnecessarily since I had enough at the time. This is also the same reason why I never wanted to kill teals king in the top corner tower: He was enemied to green and they fought so I liked that green lost res there. However when he sent a kingsnipe my way (which the stream missed, but you can read green alerting me to it and see the teal on the map) he forced my hand and he had to go. At the end I was ready to fight with green (as you could see I had prepared some production buildings beforehand - and kept teal alive for so long), but I was enticed with his idea to sink the kings, so I agreed (especially considering it could have taken another hour at least - and the second regicide rumble game should have started some time ago). I thought the "titanic" hilarious and well that's how it turned out imo ;) I'm not sure which one of us would have won (we had same ressources and amount of relics), but my civ would have been stronger while he is definitely the stronger player. So it would have been a tossup, really.

should draw that because both players died at same time the game cant actually physically have two people draw but that is only a technicality

that ending was not last man standing and tbh they didn't follow the rules so i believe neither should have got the winnings and gave it to MVP (orange who was such a champ and fought 3v1 almost the whole time) but that's just imho. great video 9/10 worth watching every min. but that ending was 2/10 and the only reason it's a 2 is cuz i never seen an ending like that. Unique but not good! D:

I waited 2 and a half hours for this !?! 11 And despite being on youtube, I don't fast forward or skip. Still pretty hilarious - Gray really really messed that up so much. Kept going for orange even when it was clear orange wasn't a threat.

Awesome game. They wanted a nice peaceful ending and you are both conspiring about how they can kill each other. Ha ha so funny!

green cried like baby when he died...Like pls dont kill me, go to kill orange. But if you are looking form the first minute you can see that green started with attacks...he shoulded die first...for me blue and orange and grey GG....

Not sure why grey was so obsessed with killing orange, even when he was no longer a threat. Could have teamed up with him to take on the huge empires in the south. The ending, however, was one of the most awesome moments I've ever seen in AOE. Also, orange played incredibly, holy shit.

I actually disagree with this ending. As far as I have understood the point of the game is last man standing. These guys played the whole game together ganging up against others and in the end they fixed a draw and are probably going to share the prize money :/ . I watch these games to see drama and sneaky betrayals, not fixed teams destroying the better and more creative players.

Great game guys! I hope you split the reward in the spirit of Christmas :) Actually I was rooting for orange most of the time but grey wanted him dead too badly in the end. Still, it was a very deserved win by the Spanish-Gothic alliance.

When two or more players lose simultaneously it pops up in chat in player order so going by chat to determine that was iffy, but I think you did the right think by awarding Blood the win where the stream bets were concerned because he was able to talk Nighthawk into letting him control the murder-suicide pact at the end.

Great game! Great comments and tactical analysis! 1st class entertainment as always @T90 & Nils. The outcome was, however, unfortunate for nighthavvk. You guys make the rules, but i wanna suggest that the order of ingame messages imho and in this particular case does not qualify for deciding upon who the winner is since it popped up simultaneously. Also: It is clear that both kings died the same second due to game mechanics... and there was actually no "Merry Christmas" displayed which was probably the most frustrating part of the ending. :D But finally, I guess, someone had to decide who the winner was, right? One could also chose to do a rematch which would have been best fo us viewers. ;) Just saying. Keep the great vids coming. Best regards and happy holidays Günna

It is a community game with no rules you have to expect the people to all already have something worked out before hand.

It's a pity that haszemi's snipe attempt went unnoticed by the casters. He sent his resources because green discovered his plan in time : 1:45:01

Green should have dropped his king as soon as blue got on and deleted the transport right after. Blue wouldn't have had time to react but he turned out to be a man of his word... lol. Still. I think this game could have ended like an hour earlier if green had just gone for OJ at the same time as blue and grey. Blue and green played like little girls in how passive they were :P.

In the moment when the blue santa load up to transport green one should unload his santa and sail with the ship to the lake and delete it it would be the best ending move ever :D ... but i understand they helped each other so they just decide to end it like they did .... unique way anyway :D

If HenkTheSuperNerd would have stayed in the Eastern corner team he would have won. superlisko, Henk and hszemi would have killed Bloodpriest and nighthayvk in a 3-vs-2, then Henk and hszemi would turn against superlisko, the strongest remaining player, and slowly kill him (bbt are nasty work). In the end Henk would be stronger than hszemi. Turning your cloak too early wins you nothing (especially in favor of a team which are much tighter with each other than they are with you, i.e. the are trading and were pals from the beginning).

It's so unfair to arbitrarily decide on a winner. It was clearly a joint victory. You made the wrong call and that undermines your authority. Sad.

I know I'm 6 years late... but I am just getting interested again after 10 years. I think Green won because it was his ship. Green killed blue. Even though they both died, blue did not kill green. I believe if it was blues ship and he deleted, blue would've been the official winner. Just my idea. Nice, exciting battle

Horrible horrible horrible diplo from grey, maybe worst I've ever seen in AoEII >_< And everyone wanted to ally blue, the strongest in the game after -orange- green, who was his ally. _sigh_ I really enjoy this content but this was just frustrating to watch, and I also like to root for the underdogs or those who play exciting... This was just boring (for me personally). So many players throwing the game by doing the opposite they should in diplo

Grey waited way too long, it's insane that he did not see the situation at hand... he should had allied Superlisko like 15 minutes earlier, he had TONS of resources and he needed to get rid of blue! Instead he waits until the obviously manipulating green kills half his base and gets forward unit production... like what the hell

One guy on the comments says he thinks your co-caster has a German accent. I kind of think he has more of a Danish accent. Anyways, if I ever had to sit on a plane for over 2 hours, this is what I would've watched. Very nice video.

This game was a little bit bull shit, it was a diplo where it was 2vs. the rest, and they slowly took out everybody, it just ruined the game to some extent. Although I am surprised it worked, it seems like when grey attack orange that that was them giving up. They should have realised that they had an unbreakable alliance and should have been punished for it.

So in the end green was credited with the win and money? I would just have split it this time and made a new rule prohibiting this in the future. It felt genuine IMO, don't think they planned this beforehand, they were just bros. Grey though, that snipe attempt on OG made no sense, the next one made even less sense when he should have gone for blue or green. Snipe OG when either blue of green is almost dead maybe, but that was way too early. Also taking half an hour to enemy green and lose half his defenses lol

It is funny, but really anti-sportmanship, it is diplo sure but splitting the prize going 2vs everybody alone is really...dishonest if you can call

Did the game log not report Nighthavvk as dying first as he was player 1? That's the only reason I can think of...

I have not played this game in awhile but i am curious if a monk converts a villager does it set off an attack warning or can you sneak steal some villagers?

Bloody should have transported the kings to the other side of the lake where he had his own army waiting, then unloaded and switched to opponent. Haha!

You need to remove the three minute spec delay that way the game goes back to king sniping and sneaky work.

I wish that I saw more Civilizations of the newer Expansions. I've seen some Portugese and Italians, but would like to see some Magyars, or Slavs, or some of the newer ones.

Diplomacy games are stupid. No matter how good of a player you are it literally comes down to pure luck and who decides to attack you first. No skill whatsoever....
