Compared to everyone else in the movie, except Renee, absolutely yes. Auli'i and Renee were the only ones with enough singing talent and preparation for their roles, specially Renee being the second Regina in Broadway back in the day. But if we're talking about Janice eating her songs for breakfast, she can't even hold a candle to Barret Wilbert Weed. It's a shame she aged out of the role, she would've killed it.

@@Butwhythough881 No because so many reasons lmao First of all, everybody watched the original so If they had done it the same way nobody's was gonna feel surprised, it wouldn't work Second, this is a MOVIE MUSICAL. In Broadway it's okay that way bc it's just a stage version but to take that and do it a movie it's too complicated and different. If it were just like the stage version it would look bad because of the song, it's the same as if they put this scene in the Broadway version, it wouldn't fit right? What makes the stage version so different it's that they need to put that argument on purpose to end the scene AND THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO SHOCK bc every single one there just know what's gonna happen, here it's possible to surprise everyone - the people who watched the OG, those who watched the Broadway stage AND new viewers. So yeah this was a pretty great choice. I WAS GAG when I first saw this scene

I absolutely loved Auli'i Cravalho as Janis she was so good and I'm obessed with her performance alongside Renee Rapp to but this whole cast was amazing

@@MunroMcLarenno I think she was following Janis to also scream at her (yk, for good measure. As if she didn’t hurt everyone enough😅) and then snapped when Cady said something. If she had just calmed down a little and decided to wait for Janis to finish her song she wouldn’t have gotten hit.

@@Xoxo0xx0 to me it looks like the was arguing with Cady and then she gets mad at Janis for walking in between them and follows her while screaming, then Cady said something that made her so mad she turned around again. But she could have also been talking to Cady while facing Janis.

in the original they had time for exposition because it wasn't a musical.

I assume to keep the shock value of the bus hitting regina. most people going into the movie will have seen the original so if they did dialogue only then everyone is just waiting and anticipating the bus to hit. By doing it in the middle of the end of the song they still managed to shock a theater full of people that knew the bus was coming but didn't expect it at that time.

​@jkb_games_music this version can't use time as an excuse, it's ran for almost 2 hours! They could easily have dropped 2 or 3 of the pretty average/forgetful songs for more dialogue. I like musicals but there a few songs in this that didn't really do much for the story and weren't very good imo.

Everyone in the theater did that too and just left, when they found out it was a musical. Oh.
