This song never fails to make me cry since it reminds me of one of my aunts. Everytime I saw her she always had a smile for me, she even treated me like I was her grandchild alongside with my cousin. Last time I saw her was in my first communion, with almost 9 years old. Even though I had fun with some of my friends and cousins, I also spent time talking to my uncles and aunts, specially her. In like a year, almost two, she got really sick to the point that when we went to visit her to the hospital, my mom told me she was very ill. In like a week or so, the doctors told us that she got better and that they were gonna send her back to the hospital in my city. By the night, the doctors told my godmother (my aunt's daughter) that she suffered an infection in one of her lungs. When my mom told me that, I propose myself to pray for her and wish that she was well and that I could visit her. But by the morning, my nervous little self arrived to my parents bedroom and found my mother with tears in her eyes, and told me that my aunt was dead. I simply said "Oh" and turn around quickly and went to my room. I spent all morning crying. After that I felt a bit numb because everytime my family mentioned her, my cousin would be always crying, but not me and I didn't understand it until now. I miss her so much everyday and every time I hear this song it reminds me of when I was that bird trying to fly away and telling her all the amazing things that happened to me and now I'm stucked to that wire of memories of her. I really miss you auntie 🕊

This song reminds me of my best friend who died in 2016. I absolutely loved her and she was like my sister from another mother, if you will. We helped each other during so many hard times. Once I was at home and she called me panicking, because the breaks on her dads car had been cut and they completely lost control of the car. The last words I heard from her was "I'll see you soon" before she and her dad died in the crash. I've never cried so hard in my life, and 5 years later I don't think I'll ever be able to forget that moment. I miss you a lot leila.

I’ve been playing this song over and over again and I absolutely don’t regret it at all it’s so calming:)

It's incredible how many meanings this song can have. Friendships, relationships, depression... I like to think that the birds are every single one of us, looking back in the past. We tend to look back at what we have lost and at the mistakes we made, instead of looking forward, thus failing to notice the opportunities moving away from us. We tell ourselves we won't think about it anymore, we'll keep going, but we always end up in the deep thought, thinking what better we could have done. So while a part of us wants to move on, there will always be this one part of us that is static, inert. "There's nothing I won't understand." I believe this to be our hindsight and the previous line to be our desperate willingness and desire to change our past. "I won't let go of your hand." yet again, the aforementioned desperate desire to stop the unstoppable wave of bad conscience. I'll be a better partner, just please come back to me. I'll be a better friend, so please don't leave me. I'll be a better person, so please just make everything good again. The meaning of the song may or may not be negative(it really depends on the point of view), but the song is beautiful anyway.

This reminds me of my twin sister and I, we used to be so close growing up, we shared pretty much everything from our clothes, room, toys, etc. We promised that when we got a little older that we would get an apartment and never leave each others time but once we hit highschool it seems she wants a life without me and I don't really blame her but it just kinda hurts because she wants to let go and I don't want her to leave me just yet. This was me and my boyfriend. We both have had scarily similar childhood experiences. Only difference is I moved on, didn't let it hold me back, I "flew away." When we met he was still holding onto that wire, saying he wants to fly but grasping just as tight. I was able to slowly loosen his grip, and watching him fly is the greatest feeling in the world to me, I am incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to fly with him.

This song to me feels like separation, or separation anxiety. The two birds are best friends in an "old life."One bird wants to go and live life, letting go of past emotions, and moving on, making new memories, wanting the other to come along. However, the bird staying on the wire doesnt want to let go of trauma, past emotions, and memories. Its where they feel they belong, and where they feel the safest. Neither wants to let go of the other, but I think they realize they have to, if they want to live the life they want.

This song brings back painful memories… I had lots of friends who left either the country or my school- or aren’t friends with me anymore. I had a close friend, but after lots of online school and no meeting each other, we broke apart… It’s hurtful now that I have a best best friend- but next year, she’s leaving- and she was my best friend… It hurts, even if people don’t see it, it leaves scars on our hearts, the sadness.. 😭🥺😢😔

I noticed that this song slowly progresses into a more depressive and intense tone, and all I can say is that I feel like it matches the recent events in my life perfectly. The beginning of this song feels like when you first meet your best friend, and you spend so much time with them and laugh in the sun. You thought you were inseparable. But as time goes on, you realize that time has become your biggest enemy, and it slowly breaks you apart until you feel numb when they finally leave. This happened to me, except my best friend moved and I’m broken now :,)

The wire represents danger, somewhere you shouldn’t be because you’ll get shocked. I think its supposed to be depression, addiction, sickness, whatever you want. These two birds became close after being on the wire, one decides he was able to leave. But obviously the other one can’t move on, no matter how he tries. He’s tired, he’s comfortable there. And the other bird, despite wanting to leave, feels a necessity to stay with their friend despite them being ready to move on. Its actually quite sad because now neither of the birds can move on from this dangerous spot. You also have to realize the more they’re both on the wire together, the more it weighs down. Maybe its more bittersweet than anything. Btw it can be interpreted however you want, at its core its about one person who’s ready to move on with life and one person who’s too scared to leave the comfort of their status quo, even if its not good for them.

This song makes me think alot about me and my brother, we both went through so much. To anyone in the future who ever finds this comment: There was a girl I fell in love with. Loved her more than anything. She was my first true love and I was certain that she was the one I wanted for the rest of my life. While I was ready to leave behind my past and let her be a part of my life, and myself a part of hers, I slowly realized she was the “bird on the wire,” and was too afraid to take the jump out of her comfort zone. I made a lot of mistakes, too, and our bond dissolved over time because of it. I think she hates me now, and it hurts knowing that. Even more so when i remember the special bond we had before. I actually cried to this song because it the end of school and I started crying and I watch it so much because I miss them and I listen to this and it made me sad a little bit more
