What's wrong with singing someone else's song as long as one can sing it just as good. What's irritating is that she sings it well. In all fairness, Regine is a talented singer and one cannot deny it.
thank you for your talent. you honor the singers who have influenced your music. you are that grounded to do that. if i was mc, i would be flattered that someone as good as regine is singing my songs, and giving justice to them. it would be most horrible for an artist if no one patronizes his/her art.
Only Regine can give justice to Mariah's songs in a live performance. Not even Mariah can give justice to her own songs in live singing =) Which of course makes MC fans out there bitter with hate, hahahahaha.

Been reading comments. I agree that no one can touch Mariah just until 1998. Mariah would have more achievements than Regine obviously because she's an international singer. She's more popular. Mariah is no doubt a great songwriter. That's why she has a looot of number 1 songs on the charts. As a singer, she may have more dynamics than Regine. But when it comes to live singing, we must admit that she is not consistent. After 1998, she still released songs tough to sing like never too far, lead the way, through the rain, almost home, mine again, etc. that she can't sing live without changing the arrangement and lower the key? It's like cheating the audiences because obviously, she can't sing her own songs live in its original arrangement. Oh yes, technology can do magic in recordings already. Moreover, she relies to backtrack up to this day most of the time and always encounter "technical problems" in her performances as her excuse. Regine on the other hand is no doubt a strong vocalist. She's always on point. You can't compare her vocals to Mariah because they have different register and style. She gives justice to other singers' songs effortlessly. Others may be blinded by this fact but without bias, if you put them together on the same stage, Regine would definitely outsing Mariah. Stamina, vocal power, stability of the notes, crystal clear voice, etc. regine is a better vocalist I should say. They say Mariah has nodules. Well Regine has acid reflux. If Mariah has nodules, why did she still released songs tough to sing after 1998? And just lip them during performances with the aid of backup singers? Regine can sing different genres of music from ballad to pop to rock to musical to theatre to classic and still able to give them justice and make these songs her own. Something I don't think Mariah can do. To make this short, Mariah is a better songwriter but regine is a better vocalist. So it depends on how you would compare them. I love Mariah's songs. I have a collection of her albums. She is one very talented songwriter and her vocal style is really rare. Regine on the other hand delivers and she would leave you in awe in her performances. I saw them in concerts so i know what i am talking about. Trust me, you'll never get bored with regine during concerts. I watched Mariah's concert in 2002 and sad to say, she lipped more than half of her songs and just did a looot of adlibs. #NoHate #JustTheTruth #NotBiased

Again, again, again .... The originals are NOT always better. Sometimes, the singer who covers can still be a LOT BETTER. These LIVE performances prove beyond reasonable doubt that the SOLID SKY-ROCKETING VOCALS of Regine are so much BETTER than the original DETERIORATED VOCALS of Mariah. However you put it, Mariah's BLUNDERflies are nothing compared to the ASIA'S SONGBIRD. :)

Another thing, They're both briliant artist. I like them both. But one can not be compared with one another. They both have different syles and techniques in terms of singing. Mairah is INTERNATIONAL. Regine is LOCAL. That's the only difference i see.

actually nag umpisa talagang nagkaroon ng damage yung boses ni mc ay 1997. kaya medyo nahihirapan narin xang kumanta ng live nung 1997 pero hindi naman lage ganun . may time na maganda , may time na sira..kumbaga paumpisa palang na nawawala unti unti yung boses niya nung 1997. hanggang sa pumasok na yung taong 2000 at dun na lumala yung boses niya at talagang sumasablay na xa. sa mga live niya.
she doesnt need to tell her audience that she will lip, coz her fans not idolize her for lipping, but on her what is her image right now...yes, all of her fans in the world knows she lips, but it is fully understood...lip or live, mariah stands still!

In a way I agree with you but in a way I don't.When Regine sings mariah carey covers she doesn't use her own style she truly try's to hit the same notes.Not one bit of the song is changed except regine adds a bit more power to it.One thing I agree with you is that people should stop dissing her cause at least she try's to do the same notes as mariah and she sometimes succeds

Actually, Soulsiren, while this video might well be Regine's, surely by virtue of it being on RU-vid - the public domain - people are quite welcome to offer criticism and judgment in whichever fashion they choose, provided it isn't insulting. si mariah kasi masyadong technical ang mga kanta kaya hindi nya makanta ng live, puro engineered. sya na ang kumanta sya pa ang nagbaback-up vocals, may kulot-kulot pa kung saan-saan... mga limang mariah ang kailangan para makanta ang isang kanta nya ng maayos. cguro kada isang birit nya, pause recording, tapos ibang birit na naman para bigay todo,.. hindi tuloy-tuloy. ah basta, para makanta to ni regine ng tuloy-tuloy at hindi nagrerely sa back-up singers, MAGALING TALAGA SYA, AMININ NYO NA!

I wouldn't be willing to listen to songs in Tagalo *which I DO NOT understand* and for your information, 98% of the songs that she sang are just covers, which means she sang a whole lot of songs of Celine, Whitney, Mariah, Barbara,..........and the list is long.
