shai cano actually whenever people sing this live like Mariah, the band waits for the cue of the singer, so that it allows Mariah or whoever to play with the run and take her time. They’re not supposed to start the drum again until they see the singer make a signal or nod or take a breath. At least that’s how professional bands are supposed to do, it’s the opposite of minus one where the singer is the one who adjusts.
