For me, other than the longevity, it’s the consistency. Barring the acid reflux days, she has been nothing but consistent. And even now, living with that condition, she has managed to adapt and learn how to live and sing with it. I absolutely adore her for it because she could’ve easily just given up and stopped singing - we all know she has nothing more to prove and has cemented herself as probably the best singer (imo) in the Philippines - but she actually chose to better herself and evolve still as a singer even at this stage of her career. I mean she’s almost 40 years into her career. That’s actually mind blowing.

When me and siblings were little we have the privilege to see Regine Velasquez at my uncle's work at the mall that was early 2000's i think. I remember clearly her face when my uncle would carry me. She is so nice and humble

Now, new singers in the Philippines with the same genre as she has needs to become as her also, because she made the expectations of Filipinoes high when it comes to singing birit songs. Thanks God, new biriteras been born with different techniques but almost as good as her.
We have new amazing Filipino belters now but Regine's vocal ability still has an edge over the others and that distinguishes her from the rest. As you said, "often imitated, never duplicated". Her VOCAL CONTROL, VOCAL DYNAMICS, and the QUALITY OF HER BELTS (especially vocal power, resonance, fullness/roundness when hitting high notes) are still incomparable.

Regine’s belts are not there just to impress. She delivers them with intent and emotions. Others usually hit the note and they are happy. Regine delivers the note, the emotion and the intent of that note. Ovela, your Tagalog now sounds almost like a native speaker since last time I heard you. She is the star of the stars. The celebrity of the celebrities. But even with that, she looks up to young singers and even thinks they are better than her. Anyone can sing 6 octaves, 9 octaves, and it's truly amazing. What separates this woman from the others is the effect she gives to the audience. And not just amazement. It's like thunder roaring and reaching out to your very core. Especially at live concerts, and I have been to many, she is the only singer that I felt the sound vibrations on your skin when she belts. And it's not just the way she sings, it's about the way she touches your heart in a very different way and leaves a mark even after you watch her. You will be stunned, speechless, overwhelmed, not just by the way she sang, but by how magical it was. It's like you are being transported to another dimension.
Your right Ovela. You have to adjust according to your age. But Regine has still got it even now. However their were times that her voice is not in a condition because of aging you know. Recently, she did two online concerts, a benefit concerts for Typhon Odette. I heard that she will be touring her "ICONIC Concert" with Sharon Cuneta here in the Philippines and abroad. She also renewed her contract with ABS-CBN, so there is so much to look forward of what's she gonna do. To tell you honestly, before I'm not a fan of Regine until I discovered her in your channel and because of your honest reactions I started appreciate her. Now, I'm a big supporter! I still remember when Regine was really sick and couldn't speak at all and she was having a concert yet she decided to show at her concert and she tried to sing but her vocals couldn't even got into the melody of the song. She burst into cryin while apologizing to the people attended to concert, explaining that she got some type of a virus that affects her vocals. and decided to resched the concert and everybody who paid for the concert got discounted for their seats and free to attend to the rescheduled concert. Everybody (not only on the concert but also those who watched the news) didnt care when she cracked while singing that day, instead everybody got worried and send their love for Ms. Reg. That's how much people respect her, Filipinos did not focused on her flaws but her well-being on that moment. There was a video clip of it actually on RU-vid.
