@@LaurenPaigechannel I give all the glory to God for my move lol. So have a pay a broker fee to secure an apartment so save for that. You can do it though, I work in a hospital in Manhattan bring home $6k a month after tax, but rent alone for a 1 bed 1 bath in Brooklyn is $1,800. My rent is on the cheaper side lol. But don’t be scared, it’s definitely a culture shock from growing up in Jax. Once you come up here you won’t want to go back 💛😭
@@jesusanddiamond222 i lived in london for awhile and i just MISS IT SM!! I am a Labor and delivery RN with a BSN- I have 2 years of experience. Any tips for specific hospitals or ones to avoid?
@@LaurenPaigechannel Listen London is awesome so I can understand that! I heard New York Presbyterian is a good hospital, also Mount Sinai is decent. The other hospital I haven’t heard much about though. They’ll love the BSN, but give yourself like four months to get the NY license.
Can you please make more videos about the process of finding a job ( how many applications etc and what was the job interview like) and did you have prior patient care experience . Thanks !
Most detailed video ! Thank you so much . Do you work at a private hospital or NYC health + hospitals? I am a new grad also moving back to NYC, I am just worried about how hard it is to find a job.
I work at a private hospital system, not an NYC health+ hospital. I will definitely make a future video about the job process. They didn't give interviews until after I passed the NCLEX. Once I passed, I got an interview 1 month after applying and received an offer within the week. But keep in mind that my position wasa med-surg unit on night shift.
Hi Your comment hits home with me and I like that you seem relaxed and very open. Life is to enjoy, laugh, communicate and have a connection with someone special who has a zest for life and all things in it. I like to be active and I tend to find the humor in life. It’s my feeling that people need adventure, laughter and passion.... can we talk privately pls
Do you know what the msn differential is? How much overtime can you work or choose to work? Do shifts have to be 12 hours or can you do 4 hours one day, 8 hours the next, 2 hours, etc
Sis, My Name is pari . I am an Nurse from North east india. Can i ask you regarding, details of Nurse job at New york and some hospital? Waiting your sweet reply? 🙏
As I finish my LPN to RN bridge program in August; Im guesstimating how much I might make as an RN.....with LPN experience I can work in dialysis for $80-90k yearly plus $10k sign on....so thats going to be my starting point. You're at $103k which I think is very good.
Hi I love your video can you let us know the pay difference between adn and bsn degrees for nurses in New York City Thank you for making such a descriptive video
The pay doesn’t get better the longer you stay …it caps off at 10 years …get a masters or move into management or negotiate at teaching hospital like Sinai or Preby/Columbia at an outpatient faculty practice
Yes, do it... I was a Paramedic making very little in the midwest, then got my RN and after 29 years working I have saved 10 - 15% into my 401k and I'm a going to retire in 6 years comfortably.
Love this video. Nurses have all the education and resources they need to make a decent income. They can invest and make more too. Why would their income ever be something left up to others is my question after watching this. Could their potential be limited by references? Their environment? Haters? 🤷♀️ Its scary to think that someone with the qualifications and experience to be a nurse would not have a decent income. What could be some obvious reasons in your opinion? Environment? Male Haters? Systems in place? Jealous women?
That's not that much. I make 40 in pa as lpn in corrections where the cost of living is much cheaper. I was expecting rn made more in nyc given how expensive is to live there.
She makes $103k per year walking out of school.....The turn over is high in NYC, always, in a couple years she can move up, eventually secure a manager position and jump into the $120k range....working in one of the worlds best, modern hospitals....compared to $40 in corrections with slow upward growth. In NYC we don't have car payments, car insurance, gas, repairs etc. If we rent an apartment, we don't have property insurance...its not much more expensive in the city like everyone thinks. I appreciate people who work corrections, but I did a small stint and it was horrible, smelled like a zoo, but not as friendly and fun like a zoo.
@@jeffreyo8496 facts $100k walking right out of college is amazing. I been in the fashion industry for 10 years and i live in nyc and i just hit $85k. I start a ADN program next month and to know I can make that my first year in is amazing. Nyc is def livable with $100k
You can live well in NYC with a $100k/year salary. Why do people think that you live a miserable life if you make less than 100k a year and live in NYC? I’ve been living here since 1988. I live in a comfortable studio apartment for $1600/month (rent), utilities included - that’s less than $20k/year. The train is across the street, so no car payment, no gas, no parking expenses, and no car insurance. Public transportation expenses max out at $33/week, after that, it’s free rides. I don’t eat out often, but I can still afford it. Live within your means and you still have money left to save, your retirement, and taxes. If you make more, then great, but you don’t have to to live comfortably in NYC.
@@IslemTav well that's depends on what's your definition of living well. I pay 1200 a month for a 3 bedroom house and I own it not renting and now I'm making around 100k as a lpn. I don't work corrections anymore just doing agency now
Hai from India... If u don't mind can share a detailed video of becoming nurse in New York as an international BSN Nurse .. also about the IELTS score too...plz..
9:01 Awesome content!🎉 Much props to all of the male and female CNA, LVN / LPN, RNs out there. You’re appreciated! Question: I’m trying to figure out what are most affordable LVN / LPN (accredited) programs online. And what is the range of cost and time to complete the programs? Please help with finding any courses (especially specialty) in our field, that can be done completely online? Please correct me with my tuition numbers are off? I’m a man in NYC, no kids, own my house & car w/ no mortgage & no car note. I already am FT in property management w/o college. I’m also only work weekends and sleep 3-4 hours. I’m pursuing a career in Travel TC ICU ER ENP. And I admit that I’ll need help. The route plan is: get my CNA, work in a hospital for 200 hours, get my LPN /LVN, work that in a hospital for 200 hours, then take a bridge course with dual ASN & BSN while studying for a specialty in ER. My studying ethics is close to Neo plugging in & learning kung fu, and Imma beast when it comes to test taking, so I want prep for my HESI, ATI, NCLEX right now while I save about $12,000-$15,000 for all of my tuitions, online books & certifications. My saving averages about $2K to $3K per month, so I should be test ready by the time I have the money. And whatever bread I make during my “clinicals” 400+ hours I will put towards my next tuition fee, which I believe is $23,000. I want to eventually post videos about my journey, because I haven’t seen anyone successfully pull this off. What do you think? Thank you! ❤
I can't speak to other areas, but the people in NYC are built different! You have to be strong and make sure you protect yourself and your boundaries. The pay is great but the pace and culture isn't for the faint of heart.
Yes I did do a new grad residency program, and it was a teaching hospital. My hospital system automatically enrolled all nurses with less than 6 months of experience into the program!
Thank you so much for this video. I’m about to graduate from nursing school in CA and will be moving to NYC right after graduation. Any tips for getting licensed in NY as a new grad from another state?
$103k walking out of school is not low. Cost of living is practically the same as long island. Except she doesn't have a car payment or car insurance, no property insurance or yearly property tax. it evens out.
@@jeffreyo8496 That's BEFORE taxes taken out.... sounds gd AFTER taxes that's not gd... I made that every 2 wks as a Traveling Phlebotomist what she's making as a Rn...ijs🤷🏾♀️
EXACTLY... they're looking at $103,000 a year BEFORE taxes... AFTER u see what she's bringing home. What she's bringing home I make that every 2 weeks as a Traveling Phlebotomist.
@@latrieceb3619 you was def not making $100k as a first year phlebotomist. 😂 She hasn’t even done a year yet she just graduated. I make $85k in nyc and i live alone in a luxury apartment. Don’t believe the news you hear about NYC. people live here just fine on much less. Remember we don’t need cars here so our money can easily go to our high rent and we still have enough to live. The news really be lying to yall
I really want to work in New York but my whole family is against it, saying it’s too dangerous but we live in the center of manila…. I feel like that’s a little bit contradictory… how are handling safety living alone in New York?
If you go to New York, go where the filipinos are: Queens. Queens and Brooklyn are the safest neighborhoods in New York. I was in Makati last month, and I enjoyed it there. Filipinos are so friendly. Thats why stay in Queens.
Hello, can you tell me how can I reduce the price of ADN tuitions ( all the fees included ) or tell me if their is a free of charge ADN’s program somewhere in USA please ? 🤍
Free? You can find lower cost programs at community colleges for ADN, but it’s not free. It’s still pretty costly. If you find anything free in this world, let me know. Some hospitals do a reimbursement for tuition if you have it in your contract but you still pay the cost upfront through loans or your own means.
Go to a community college. In NY, CUNY and SUNY colleges are tuition-free for individuals making less than $125,000 a year. That includes Associates and Bachelors Degree. And yes - the nursing program is included! I’m currently a nursing student and have paid zero tuition. You must be an NY resident, though. For that reason, the nursing program is extremely competitive and selective.
@@IslemTav Oh, they don't charge tuition even for an ADN? I guess that justifies why they pay so little for nurses even though the cost of living in NYC is comparable to California but the pay is a lot less.
@@supreme5998 Yes, the ADN is included. The salary doesn't have anything to do with the cost of college. Most people end up going to paid nursing programs in NYC, which are quite costly - $20K or more, a lot more. So, no, nothing to do with salary. It's just the ongoing pay rate and there are a lot of nurses looking for jobs here.
