OMG THANK you!!!! I have been unable to plot ANYTHING all semester because everyone else and my teacher are using different calculators and they don't know how this one works and I finally got it thank to you!!:)

@anjiecai You can use the Matrix/Data Editor menu instead. There will be a few minor differences, such as the column headings are probably c1, c2, c3, etc. instead of list1, list2, list3, etc. Some of the menus will be different too, but everything is there. It will work even using the original TI-89 (not Titanium).

Thank you so much!! You won't know how much I appreciate this video. This video is so clear and helpful. I was literally the only one that had TI 89 in my class. Had problems following up when the teacher uses TI 84 and give instructions how to graph on it. So happy I've watched this video. Thank you!!!

Thank you!!!!! Just like Shaina, I couldn't figure this out for the life of me, and my textbook only shows for TI-83 & 84. Just know that I'm hugging you through this screen.

The "dimension" error message usually means that the lists you are using for the regression or the graph plot have different lengths (or one list has more values in it than the other list). So make sure you have entered the values into your lists correctly, that they have the same number of values, and that you are using the correct lists for the regression or graph.

If you want to do it in Radians, just follow the regression steps above and use the SinReg option. So enter the data into the list editer, go into the Calc/Math menut and select SinReg from the regressions list. In order for the function to match the data, make sure your calculator is set to Radian mode, not Degree.

@ankcool07 I have folio01 too. You should be able to scroll down the list of variables. Look for list1, list2, etc. They should be of the LIST type. I suppose they could be under a different folder. Folders usually appear in all caps. If they contain anything in them, then there will be a small littler arrow at the end of the word. Just use the left/right arrow keys to expand/shrink the folder. If the lists are not anywhere, then they were never defined during the Stat/List editor.

Try ticalc.org for the emulator, maybe under their Basics section. I think the current version is TiEmu 3.03, but you also have to download and install some other stuff. It is a bit of an involved process to set it up, if I remember correctly. Especially if you want the statistics app, which is a separate download from the TI website. There should be instructions on the ticalc website that will guide you through it.

I think it depends on the Stat App you're using.If you're using tistatle.89k, a TIConnect application, then it should be the same.(I can see that your comment is from 5 years ago, but i just wanted to let TI 89 users know how to get the same app and functionalities as it is in the video).

i am perfectly fine until i get up to the graphing part and then it comes out with the boxes but the background isn't blank like yours. i have horizontal lines. help?

You probably already had some data or some equations stored in your calculator. The best way to have a clear graph is to clear all memories from your calculator before graphing a new equation. Sometimes you don't realize it, but some of your previous operations and graphs are automatically saved in your calculator. For anybody who's having the same problem, you should clear the memory of your calculator unless you have other data that you absolutely want to keep (and be careful on how you clear your memory, any wrong command and you might loose your apps).

I have plotted max temperatures per month and put the data into the stat app, where x=month number y=max temperature the resultant plots appear to look like the sine function i want to know how I make this line on the graph and by doing so, learning from the line the values of a, b, c and d in the formula AsinB(t-C)+D where t = any given temperature Please help!

Once your scatter plots don't look LINEAR, then it becomes difficult to find a Linear Regression Line from it. Actually, plots that appear to look like the sine function are one of the common violation of L.I.N.E in SLR. If your scatter plots look like an upside-down parabola(-ax^2), then it violates linearity.(Could be easily fixed) If your scatter plots look like a sine/cosine function, then it violates independency(Can't be fixed)....

Under the Main folder i do not have the List1, List2 etc available...Now what...??? I have things like folio01, folio02...Help

For whoever having the same problem: They don't have to be named List1 and List2. The names of my columns are L1 and L2. All you need to do is just make sure that if the columns of your table are named folio01 and folio02, then you choose x:folio01 and y:folio02. If you can't find foolio01 and foolio02 in the VAR-LINK, then type folio01 and folio02 yourself using the ALPHA key and the alphabet that matches your calculator's buttons to enter your column names.

Say I wanted to predict the life expectancy in 2005 what would I do? and Vice Versa Thanks
@adolphesome4220
@adolphesome4220 6 лет назад
You have two ways to do it: One is by using your linear regression equation: y=ax+b with the slope a=0.205; the year 2005 as x=105; and b=53.6 . The result y=0.205(105)+53.6=75.12 is the life expectancy in 2005. Vice versa, means you have y=75.125 and you'll be looking for x=(y-b)/a=105 or 2005. The other way is using your graph on your calculator. Once you reach 5:50 of the video above, you should press F5 and choose 1:value by pressing 1. You'll notice xc is highlighted. You just type 105 there and Yc will automatically update to 75.12. Vice versa, you can choose to update yc and obtain xc as result.

i don't have the app... wtf
@adolphesome4220
@adolphesome4220 6 лет назад
I didn't have the app too! You needed to download TIConnect and download the app named tistatle.89k on education.ti.com/en/software/details/en/B59F6C83468C4574ABFEE93D2BC3F807/swticonnectsoftware education.ti.com/en/software/details/en/31FC737C43CF43B0ADA1CF67420C3AA8/89statisticswithlisteditor After you download both, then install TIConnect to your laptop and use your TI89 cable to connect your calculator to your laptop and turn it on. Then you open TIConnect and click on TI DviceExplorer to search your TI(make sure your laptop already detected your TI89 and your TI should stay on while TIConnect is searching your TI). Once TIConnect found it, you click select to choose your TI89. Normally it automatically closes the "search" Interface and then goes back on TIConnect(which should stay open on your laptop taskbar), click on "Send to TI Device icon", click "Browse", look for the file named "tistatle.89k" click on it once you found it and then click on "Send to Device" located on "Send to TI Device". Wait until the app is completly uploaded on your TI89 and then you should see "Stats/List Editor" in your TI89 apps...
