Anna , some higher dividend stocks are also good. For ex:. REC stock I purchased 1500 shares at Rs 60/- in 2012. Total value 90000/- It has given bonus 1:1 in 2016 & 1:3 in 2022. Now my total shares 4000. Present value of share is 145/-. Total value 4000*145= Rs 580000/- for last 10 yrs the avreage dividend yield is 9% per year. Hence I got approx. >. Rs 250000 Hence total net value as on today approx Rs 850000/ - which is 8x return. So not all high dividend yield stocks are not bad. Just for infmn pl

Yes exactly.. This is what our sir missed out! Combination of bonus and dividend is what exactly is compounding i stock market.. Many people dont know this.. If you hold in a stock for 10 years and bonus is given 2 times and dividend is paid every year and the stock also rises in price That is exactly what compounding is You never sell these stocks You accumulate dividends and leave the stock to your children and grand children That is how millionaires are born with golden spoon🎉

I think dividend payout ratio is a metric for companies. For us investors, dividend yield is a better metric to assess. And even better than that is the dividend divided by the stock price which we bought at, which gives the exact returns for us.
