Al Dunham of Hoover fame and immortalized in the “shoe-in” lyric “we’ll take Al’s Comet, he’ll never know”. As sung by Geoff from Karate on his Secret Stars cassette, later covered by Ida. I saw Regulator Watts about this time in Milwaukee and recall an otherworldly chorus effect in his playing that made me think he was playing through two amps. I’m probably wrong about his set up, but it was all quite striking. Crownhate Ruin was touring as the other portion of the Hoover split at this time as well and came through the Midwest with Clickitat Ikatowi and Unwound stopping in Green Bay. Lots of Dischord and KRS bands made the DC-OLYWA tour circuit that summer.
My old band played this show too. I remember being horrified when Al threw that SG at the end. I think Joe from Hoover was actually with them as a roadie and went back to collect the pieces at the end.
