The artistry that Jonathan Cope shows in this rehearsal is absolutely lovely. Notice especially the two gestures of his pulling Darcey's head back to him (around 1:33-38). He tenderly places his face against hers. I have not seen such delicate attention in any of the Sylvia pas de deux excerpts that are on RU-vid! Well done Mr. Cope!
Darcey and Jonathan are my biggest inspirations, you can just tell by the way their movements are portrayed, their artistry, passion and experience come through and its just so magical to see.
Jonathan is always so articulate, with a terrific sense of humor. From what i've read he made Alexandra Ansanelli, and her quintessentially 'American' sense of speed and precision, feel right at home when she arrived at the Royal.
I adore Jonathan Cope - he was so elegant and understated, such a sensitive partner. And those legs! I'm not a big Darcey fan but Cope made her look good when they were together.
Out of all of the ballet dancers Johnathan Cope would be the one i'd want to dance with....he just seems so nice! You can tell Darcey feels very safe with him
i think he is 6’2” which is why he was partnered with sylvie and darcy - both tall women. i wish there was more of him online. i want to see his mayerling performance!
