So much fun. I feel like I'm actually in rehearsal. Since covid I haven't been to anybodies rehearsal. My life has changed. But this has brought me back. She is an awesome teacher!!!
This just adds to why I love her.. As a min of music we study the songs to hear all these moving intricate dynamics that make the song. And she goes thru the song like she wrote it. We didn’t understand Bishop Blake’s decision but this is in part WHY... Excellent!!

Why do director's sing parts instead of having the musician play them? Years ago this was not the case until the section learned the pitches associated with their part then the intended interpretation was delivered with the director singing the parts.
This not the entire song. We were given the song early and most of us studied. She had to review the song with a mixed multitude of singers. But when you are dealing with a mass choir the strategy is different. Different levels of talents and abilities. The rehearsal you described is more for a smaller choir or a skilled group. Always teachers singing the parts then musicians playing the parts. Some churches didn't have musicians and sang A capella teachers of music usually have perfect pitch
I'd love to know with alot of the members in different states how are these rehearsals ran. Is it on the day or by jurisdictions ?. I'm Apostolic but grew up on COGIC choir sounds .
Our rehearsals are ran just like a local church rehearsals. We have rehearsal everyday. Each registered Jurisdiction President is given a list of the songs and then each choir member that registered gets a copy. Most of the songs we have heard before but everyone may sing it differently which is why you see her cleaning it up.
In this rehearsal, we were given the song list before the rehearsal to learn about 50 songs. Since most of us were familiar with it, she focused on cleaning up the imperfections. There were over 300 people in the rehearsal and we only had 2-3 hours to rehearse.😊
They used call us at the beginning of service for State Choir in Ohio. Teach us 5 songs in maybe 15 to 30 minutes. Usually the ones every choir sang and then we marched in and tore the Church up! 😂😂😂😂😂 those were the days when skill and Anointing of true worshippers blessed the congregation with unadulterated praise and worship.
