I very much disagree with you on the holes in the catch cup getting in your way, just drill em big enough and use a small enough poking stick. Never had an issue with not being able to get one out with that method.

I ordered a Lampropelma nigerrimum sling (sangihe black). Do you have experience with this species. 1) Do I need to provide the sling with an arboreal setup or a simple moist substrate, ground cover and small cork for a hide sufficient? What can I expect its growth speed to be?

provide an arboreal setup but with a deeper substrate as they will burrow as slings... fast growers

😊Custom Aquaria arboreal tanks are excellent ,IMO the BEST glass tanks you can get . Alas because of arthritis probs ,i struggle with heavy glass enclosures ,but have found an alternative source of 'final enclosure" with Tarantula Room arboreal enclosures which are a plastic construction,and a choice of cylindrical or square is a bonus.😊

Tip, add your cork bark FIRST ,then use slightly damper substrate ,and pack it tightly round the bark to secure it,then when secured add drier substrate on top . Keeps the hide a bit more stable.

I use ethanol first, and let it evaporate, then use hot water :) ethanol evaporates 100% as long as it is pure ethanol that means like 97% where the 3% are water . no added chemicals in it

reason I use it is because it steralizes everything before I start washing, since I then can be sure I have rinsed any promille residue

Would like one of this genus myself. I wholeheartedly agree with the slow and calm. I rehoused a P. irminia, C. darlingi and P. auratus today. The auratus was the 'snappiest' of the three.

I clean mine with Dawn Dish Soap. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly, and it's fine. For cleanings with the spider in the enclosure, or plants/substrate, I use plain water. If plain water won't cut it, I'll use diluted white vinegar.
