Love this maybe I can get while waiting for our RX350 to arrive in England before we drive it back to Australia. Zahra & Paul @twoheadnorth ru-vid.com/show-UCwk009U_yuJjrV9KVScFFeA
I bought this exact same cot for my suv, used it once, ended up returning it for 4 inch sleeping pad for half the price. Even with lowest settings this thing gets so close to the ceiling, you feel like you're suffocating inside of your car. Plus it is very heavy.
Doesn't the added weight add stability though? Sorry to hear about the clearance issues, it would be great to hear a review on headroom in a full size sedan, I'd have to set it up above the front passenger seat to the back row, which doesn't have a fold down back seat..
@@korzymI don't think you can fit this in your car unless you take front/rear passenger seats out. This thing is also very narrow and uncomfortable af. It's only good for a day or two camping trip, can't lie down more than 7 hrs otherwise you'll get backaches.
@@Kzm932 any chance you could test it over the front passenger seat and post a video? For me with my full size sedan, I’d recline the front passenger seat all the way, remove headrest, put the long cot feet in the front passenger foot well.
This blows my mind! Folds into 3-4 sections, three adjustable height supports too? Said in Will Smith (Independence Day) voice: "I have GOT to get me one of THESE!"
I have the same exact setup on my 2022 cx9, the only bad thing about it is that your face literally touches the celing when you lie down. This cot would be perfect for mini van. It is pretty comfortable though. I have a different pad on mine. I swapped out rei pad with teton sleeping pad.
How would this do in a full size sedan? I'd have to recline my front passenger seat and position this cot above it. I'm 6'2 so that's my only shot at creating a flat sleeping surface in my sedan.
I didn't find it on their site, I only found a green one for $350. :( Edit: I see now yours was $300. I thought it was cheaper because of the computer screen showing $179-$239. I hope to find blue or black and am wondering if the green one is the same brand...
Hello, I didnt add any boxes for level adjustment. 1st leg has 9 holes and 2nd & 3rd legs has 4 adjust holes. I bet you can get a fair flat level in any condition. (* the bed comes with one extra leg , same size of 2nd and 3rd, so you can use it as a sleeping cot on even ground.)
This seems like a great option. Thanks for sharing. What year is your RX? Edit: it looks like REI increased the price of 25 inch version to $299 and 40 inch version to $399…
Yep, I too saw that drastic price increase. I'm a loyal REI customer, but this price increase is unreasonable. Delayed Log, I'll be on the look out for sale prices, but I've noticed that sale items tend to sell out quickly and I don't know if REI would honor the sale price on items not already in stock.
They're heavy when all put together. I wish REI would have used something lighter to be honest. The wood slats are the heaviest part of the entire cot.
Wow! I've never seen this sleeping platform before. This looks awesome! Will the front legs extend further so that the bed could sit above the center console in the center of the vehicle? I have a Exped Megamat 10 that is 77" long. I tried fitting it inside my 2014 Toyota 4Runner but it is too long. If I remove the backseat bottoms and slide the front seats forward, the mattress will fit, but only if it sits above the center console. I guess I could try this and add blocks on the bottom of the feet in case it doesn't extend long enough.
Well, I purchased this REI platform a couple of months ago after completing a 10-day off-roading trip where I had to sleep in my REI tent. It sucked! The winds were so strong at times I had to move my camping spot to a different location and the tent caved in on itself multiple times due to the strong winds. As soon as I got home, I dropped the $$$ and purchased this cot. I figured if it doesn't work, I could return it. Well, it works very well in the back of my 4Runner with some added 2x4 wood blocks to even it out. It's just super heavy! I didn't need the padding that it comes with so that is in my garage, but the slats for the cot base are really heavy. They are sown into the cot, so I don't know what they're made out of (I think wood). I cannot figure out why REI couldn't use aluminum or a lighter material for the price of this cot. Everything else is pretty light, but awkward. I tossed the bag that the whole thing came in (it's huge for the pads) and put everything into a dry sack, which compresses much smaller. Without the padding and my ExPed sleeping pad, there is plenty of room to the truck's ceiling and I don't hit it when rolling over onto my side.
@@boyfesterhey thanks for the info. I just purchased this for my new 4 Runner to live out of while I travel for some time and work out of. I purchased an 8 inch twin size mattress as well. If I take the back seats out of the car will this fit very well & be customizable? Like adjusting the height? I don’t mind doing some minor work to it.
@@briandorsey6437 I always remove the rear seat cushions when I sleep in the back, but I only have a 4” mattress. 8” will put you close to the ceiling, I assume.
@@boyfester Man, I just went to try and buy one of these for my new 4runner and they are discontinued and you can't get them! It looks like the perfect solution.
@@stevenm6301 I'm going to return mine if you want to grab it. I tried it a couple of times in my 4Runner, but I never could get it to stay very stable. It is very wobbly and I had to jimmy-rig it by adding 2x4s underneath some of the supports and the legs kept falling off of the 2x4s when I turned over on my side. I ended up selling my ExPed LXW mattress pad (80" long) and purchasing a shorter ExPed mattress pad, so I don't need this anymore.
