Death and destruction - is a anglo-american carpet bombing of Dresden, which destroyed the city to the ground and burned alive dozens, if not hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, as well as the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the only atomic bombing in human history. They were deliberate acts of intimidation. The capture of Berlin was as accurate as possible, with minimal loss of life and subsequent assistance from the Soviet Union in its restoration. In fact, Russian soldiers with their lives to protect the lives of German civilians, while perfectly fulfilling the combat task. Eternal glory to the Russian Soldier - liberator!

House of History , That is a very good and relevant observation . Any combatants at this point and this place would have to be shell shocked beyond comprehension. . It amazes me that for the most part there were more non Germans than Germans making this hopeless stand . Many Waffen SS units that were Frenchmen , Norwegian, Danes etc knew that they probably would not make it . I cannot imagine that ANY ideology would be so strong , it boggles the mind these were people of modern Western Civilization yet they were willing to kill and die for one man . The fanatical SS swore a loyalty not to the Father land but Adolf Hitler. These are conversations that are no longer made , it is good we can have one here !
@alexseferiades515

@@oceanhome2023 The vast majority of the European Waffen-SS men were fighting to repel Bolshevism and communism, not fighting "for one man." The Waffen-SS was seen as the first truly pan-European elite fighting force that united all peoples of Europe, not as some wacky Hitler-obsessed group of goose-steppers. Sure, their oath was to Hitler and the German military under his command, but as Dr. Robert Citino would say, "there's an oath, and there's an oath."

Dr Felton, your work is a joy to watch. By far the best history channel on YT. Superlatives fail me! I cannot imagine the amount of research you must undertake to locate and verify all these fascinating snapshots of history. I too am one of your army of subscribers that click on the “like” button before I’ve even seen the content! Hats off to you, Sir! 👌🏼👏🏻👍🏻

Another very well made video with an excellent description of a special part of WW2 history! Don't know how you manage to grab out out all these facts and details and put them together with awesome original footages in such a short time, so you come over every week with a great new video... Fantastic work, unbelievable! Your channel is by far the best I've ever seen on RU-vid concerning historical informations especially about WW2, keep on the great work!

Amazing story. There's great interviews with some of the Russian soldiers that actually took part in the storming and flag raising (including a lady who was one of the first into the building) in the World at War.
