The disgusting outcomes of mass-tourism to and on Chomolungma , the costs that some will pay to insert onto their c.v.’s … ‘Conquerer of Everest’ - just as soon as they return to base camp - or sooner, if possible. Those misguided types who believe anyone, anywhere gives a toss anymore - it’s (very) old ‘hat’. The ‘management’ or rather ‘mismanagement’ of the Himal-ayas would just have to be looked at from a new standpoint. One that did not dispoile and desecrate quite so brazen and won’t only. As Messner himself was quoted in the past few years … “ Everest?..” It’s like fucking Las Vegas now”. How true and how very unnecessary .

Reinhold Messner during some other interviews talks about this, as such: each generations have their best, and cannot be compared with another. He is the best of his generation, based of achievements.
