Why we still measure things using King George's body parts I'm not sure. But we do! I was told America would switch to the Metric System, "any day now." That was in 6th grade. I'll be turning 41 shortly.
@@shustyrackleford_710 Pretty sure he's the reincarnation of Davinci, if he were alive today I'd like to imagine that he'd be a crazy mad scientist type youtuber.
Don't wanna talk this guy down, but he is a great with his worksmanship. Leonardo is on a different level altogether. He'd be making tools with AI that can solve quantum puzzles without it looking ugly at all.
I don't how much I would have to pay you if I wanted to buy one of these from you, but no matter how much I needed to pay you, it would cost you 'an arm and a leg' as well. In any case...I actually just wanted to say that I enjoy your content and that you do fabulous work here. I will now show myself out the door.
Uri is in another time zone standing tall with creativity. While your friend the Post Apocalyptic is nowhere near the genius of Uri Tuchman and will never be. It’s like comparing a Master Tool Maker with with a junkyard shade-tree lawnmower mechanic wannabe. Not to say The Post Apocalyptic fella isn’t capable, he can repair a mean worn-out, out of circulation hand drill motor.
Some people might say your creations are a little on the quirky side, but I love them, the care and attention to detail you put into them as well. Uri, you are a modern day Leonardo da Vinci.
sabelch everything about its shape screams chisel, yet he uses it as a file. Perhaps there’s something taped to the back, cause it’s a handy flat surface?
Uri: never, ever be "normal". We need your talent and creativity. This is not as accurate as my 10" Starrett caliper but is much more beautiful to behold.
Uri, if your goal is to entertain your audience, you always succeed brilliantly. Your inventiveness, your skills, and especially your presentation are greatly appreciated. You are unique in this world, and in the very best way. Thank you for all you do. I look forward with anticipation to each new video, and I'm never disappointed. Further, I've watched all your other videos time and again. Time well spent, always.
I find it rather tragic that such ornaments have disappeared from modern day tools and equipment. It's pretty clear from Uri's videos that the ornaments don't necessarily only need to have a decorative purpose - they can very well have a very specific function.
My thoughts exactly. I generally only buy old stuff when I can since they always paid at least some attention to aesthetics. And something like my old micrometers are just as accurate, and frankly the metal is likely more stable.
The most important function is to show that the human who made it was free to use some time for an extra. This signals that the important things have been thought through and this is what culture is all about. You express joy of living. Capitalism instills fear and ends in slavery. Even nature is enslaved now but will shake us off.
It's a mistake that ornaments are perceived only as ornaments, that is, as a pleasant extra. I am convinced that beauty is an essential human's need, so ornaments are very important in things and buildings. I would say, function is good but without beauty it's like life without love.
@Aniquin "Caitalism" is no fixed idea, just like "socialism" which are not even mutually exclusive as most north-european countries except the UK clearly show. Even the US was most prosperous when taxes were highest in the 1950ies, 60ies. There will always be something between the extremes if a society wants to survive. Let's not talk about words. The US is very "socialist" because the 1% get bailed out any time. Just the poorer 90% don't profit from that.
@@gresvig2507 This is the advantage of old tools. Through the passage of time, all the stresses of making the tools have worked their way out. The normalization process is complete. You can then go back in and correct any problems with the tool to have the most stable tools around. Great for machine tools and measuring tools. Also, often the patina is just fun.
It's quite funny to see the design knowing a caliper in catalan is called “peu de rei” or its literal translation: king's foot So yeah, your design is literally a king's foot caliper or as in catalan, un peu de rei de peu de rei
In the beginning.... Most early tool were hand made by the craftsman for the purpose that they needed. It was also a way for them to show off there skills. You have done all that! Was and is a pleasure to watch and see what you will do next. Maybe you could auction some of your work! I would bid on it!😱👍 Thank you!
Uri, that has got to be the most beautifully inventive tool recreation I think I have personally ever seen. I knkw there is no way I could afford to buy it from you. But I would love to have this, whether it is a functional precision tool or not. Just pulling this out in a college classroom would be enough to make a professor never forget a student. Pulling this out in yhe work-place would leave the foreman/boss remembering the employee forever. Having this on your desk in a display case working in a design firm of any sort would impress clients and be a conversation starter for sure. This is functional art whether it is precise for scientific purposes of not, and it is absolutely beautifully crafted as well. Awesome job and great attention to detail. The bird, hands, and foot/leg are great little sculptures all by themselves.
I feel like I've been taken to the furthest reaches of a broken man's mind, and seen a tool forged in the fires of his madness. Watched its quenching in a river of his tears. Before I thought this channel was the everyman's ClickSpring. Now I'm starting to think it's more of a machinist's Hell Raiser. I feel wrong for liking this as much as I do. But it's absolutely brilliant.
As expected: precision, beauty, uniqueness, an absolute piece of art. Uri you are still amazing as hell. Good work from a perfectionist and mind boggling imagination. SUPERB 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I am a civil engineer and used to big stuff. I am completely blown away by your attention to detail and an amazing imagination. Fantastisch und viel spass. Vielen dank. Paul
Dude every time I see your videos I’m amazed you’re so talented! I can tell you genuinely spend a lot of time on your projects and it’s a pleasure to be able to see the process and result. Thank you for what you do
A combination of Archimedes and Monty Python. Excellent! 👈 If the threaded rod has a 1mm pitch and the turning nut was marked 0 - 9 then you could measure in tenths of a mm. Accurate enough for any of my work wood or metal. 👍 😎
Uri, I absolutely love your work! I am a huge steampunk fan (non-dressing up-fan) and I love how your designs have a very classical kind of michael angelo feel. I was wondering if you had the desire and or time to attempt a moon phase pocket watch?!?. They are very classy with a brassy victorian era feel, kind of like your other projects! Thanks!
"Simply" the most ingenious, wonderful and artistic caliper I've ever seen! 🙂 Each project better than the previous! Amazing work! Thank you for sharing 🙏
You're amazing! You have a lovely quirky imagination, the design skills to turn an idea into reality, the fabricating skills to do the same, and such a keen eye for sculpture as well as the necessary ability to shape both metal and wood absolutely beautifully! You're a marvel. I really enjoy your work. Thanks for being there; Katherine from Kent, UK
Awesome!! After 55 years as a maker/machinist and furniture builder I kneel before you. What you can envision and produce with your hands is a gift most envy. You are an inspiration.
I admire the ingenuity and individuality you bring in to your projects. always with the aim of creating a piece of art that also works with its own twist. I admire your precision in your pieces. I also look forward to your next project every time. i enjoy you movies. thank you uri
