I was rejected from 8 unis (over 2 years), until I got an e-mail in late July from Southampton (a place that had already rejected me) offering me an interview. Two days later, I'm sat in Southampton having the interview, missing my girlfriend's (now wife) graduation and the next day I got the offer! Complete whirlwind of 72 hours!
Oh wow!! Such a turn of luck - it was meant to be! Congrats that’s amazing. Shame about missing out on your wife’s graduation but it all worked out in the end ☺️
@@DrEzgiOzcan Yeah! She was very accepting, saying "You're an idiot if you don't go for it". Managed to get there in time for photos with her in her gown etc. It was all such a blur and completely crazy when I really think about it. I was meant to start a new job in August - in fact I was sat in the waiting room of the new job waiting for a tour when the offer came in!

Congratulations!! That’s great news. Yes it really does, it’s hard going through all the rejections but the end result is worth it. Which med school are you going to?
I’m due to start GEM in September. Due to circumstances (baby, mortgage etc) could only realistically apply to one uni due to geographic restriction. In the end it was 1 GAMSAT -> 1 Interview -> 1 offer. But I benefitted from years of experience in the NHS, academia, education and private practice. I also ran my application through a former colleague who used to be on admissions for medicine, and spent countless hours prepping for interview. So I had so many advantages which my contemporaries would not have. I still cried when I had my offer. Looking back though, there is no chance in hell that 18 year old me would’ve received any offers, and no way 18 year old me would’ve coped with the pressures had I secured a place. But I feel that 30 year old me is ready. It is never too late :) I was prepared for several years of rejection, but so happy I succeeded first time!

@@DrEzgiOzcan thank you for your comment! I’m due to start at Swansea, I can’t wait! It is weird how things turned out. I outright rejected the concept of studying medicine at 18 as ‘I wasn’t good enough’ etc. Funny how things work out!

Thanks! I reckon I would still go on to do another degree of somesort with the hopes of going into graduate medicine as taking another gap year would not have been much value to me

It really depends on what you are going to aim to achieve in that second gap year that you haven’t already done in the first one. For example work experience or for financial gains.

Yes! If you don’t want to do an internship then you’ll have to do the PLAB to get your provisional gmc licence then start from the level of fy1 Did you send me an email about this earlier in the week?
