I just came into the church yesterday Lazarus Saturday. And I took the eternal name of Martha. I’m so happy to have made the decision. I have such peace.
We sang this today for Lazarus Saturday! Today was the mark of my as well as many other’s baptism into the orthodox faith. To top it all, we were presented with a relic of St. Lazarus!! SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!! No words. I am speechless with todays blessings and love. I have come home brothers and sisters! I will spread my experience of today with EVERYONE I know and hopefully bring more home to join us in the eternal gates of heaven!!
So this year will be two years! Isn't it so amazing! I was received into this Holy Church on April 5, 1987, and I still sometimes feel that newness of life even to this day! Glory to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who grants us Eternal Life and blesses us with His peace!
Me too. When listening, it makes me feel how absolutely hopeless and in despair we would be without Him. We would simply die and vanish into oblivion... And then to think, that with Him comes all hope in the world. And that all this hope in the world came into this world in the form of a small baby, lying in a manger. Not through a powerful army of angels, but through a small baby... I still cannot fathom it, but I know it is right. It can't be otherwise...
☦ Greetings Deborah on Sunday eve week of Palm's 2021. my heart lept for joy seeing St Andrew the First Called , Riverside as it was blessed VR Father Josiah, who mailed to me in Seattle, my first Catechumen book back in 1997ish. Remembering my birth into the New Creation on this Lazarus Saturday. Thank God for the Redeemer and his power to resurrect all from spiritual and physical death. He is truly worth of all we have and more.
We sang this in our girl's group church choir for Lazarus Saturday! What a beautiful peace and so thankful for this recording to practice :) Pascha is coming!!!
Rejoice, rejoice, O Bethany! On this day God came to thee, God came to thee; and in Him the dead are made alive, as is right for He is the Life! He is the Life! He is the Life! And in Him the dead are made alive, as is right for He is the Life! When Martha went to receive Him, grieving loudly with bitter tears, bitter tears, she poured out the sorrow of her heart to Him, with great sadness, wailing her lament. Wailing her lament, wailing her lament. She poured out the sorrow of her heart to Him, with great sadness, wailing her lament. She at once cried out unto Him, “My most compassionate Lord! My Lord! At the great loss of my brother Lazarus my heart is broken, help me! Help me! Help me! At the great loss of my brother Lazarus my heart is broken, help me! Jesus said to her, “Cease thy weeping, cease thy grieving and sad lament, sad lament; for thy brother, My most beloved friend Lazarus, very soon will live again! He will live again! He will live again! For thy brother, My most beloved friend Lazarus, very soon will live again!” Then He, the faithful Redeemer, made His way unto the tomb, unto the tomb, where He cried unto him who was buried four days, calling him forth, saying, “Lazarus, arise! Lazarus, arise! Lazarus, arise!” Where He cried unto him who was buried four days, calling him forth, saying, “Lazarus, arise! Come with haste, ye two sisters, and behold a wondrous thing, wondrous thing, for thy brother from the tomb has returned to life. To the beloved Redeemer now give thanks! Now give thanks! Now give thanks! For thy brother from the tomb has returned to life. To the beloved Redeemer now give thanks! To Thee, O Lord of creation, we kneel down in reverence profound, reverence profound; for all we who are dead in sin; in Thee, O Jesus, are made alive! We are made alive! We are made alive! For all we who are dead in sin; in Thee, O Jesus, are made alive! Rejoice, rejoice, O Bethany! On this day God came to thee, God came to thee; and in Him the dead are made alive, as is right for He is the Life! He is the Life! He is the Life! And in Him the dead are made alive, as is right for He is the Life
What about Islam? They also believe in Jesus and Mary... Quoran says God is 1. And can do everything. He send Jesus to the people. And Jesus did all the mircales by God's will. Perhaps a great prophet of God?
@@AG-wb3db Allah said he is the father of no one , yet Jesus calls God Father? Jesus ask to be worshipped as His Father is worshipped , clearly He is not a mere prophet. What prophet would dare say your sins are forgiven ? What prophet would dare identify Himself with the attribute of God(Mark 14:62)? Muslim did not believe in Jesus , for you believe in a different Jesus. Your Jesus/Isa is incompetent, think about it , he got his book corrupted , his follower misguided, and many more things. To think about it your God Allah is really incompetent huh, his 2 previous ummah gor corrupted and the final and 3rd ummah is killing each others.
@@AG-wb3db Jesus is not a mere prophet. His followers testofied that He is Son of God, who was crucified and rose from the dead. All three of those things Islam rejects. Saying Jesus is a "great prophet", or that He's "Word of Allah and a spirit from Him" saying that He and His mother are sinless, or saying that He was someone who did miracles by permission of God (not "will", implying that He has an inherent ability to do them), isn't enough. Islam rejects what Jesus said of Himself.
CHRIST IS IN OUR MIDST!! He is and EVER SHALL BE!! Blessed feast day, sending love and prayers from Saint Anthony Antiochian Orthodox Church, San Diego, CA.
This choir has always been beautiful and inspirational for me to start reading the bible. Now it's 10x so, and I send my love from The Orthodox Community of The Archangel Gabriel, Glasgow, UK
Beautiful! This has always been one of my favourite Orthodox chants. On this Lazarus Sat., 2017, may everyone listening to this be filled with the love and mercy of Christ! May everyone have a most blessed, joyful, and consoling Great and Holy Week and and most blessed, holy, joyful, Holy Pascha!
@@lazarustheyounger the bishop of the Greek Orthodox is the one who wrote it, besides you are called a Syriac Orthodox , not Syrian in English, I totally support that it should be Syrian instead but go to a dictionary you will find that it is Syriac

I am muslim and turkish guy, the sound is excellent i love it. Actually we all believe in the same thing in different ways. Greetings and love to all christian people, may peace be with all of us. Also greetings to our neighbor greece.
Actually we don't and we don't want to bear your self proclaimed fake pedophile warlord prophet who raped looted plundered the Jewish tribes of mecca and eliminated the Christians and jews from the Arabian peninsula throughout his life and his fake pagan deity allah, our god is Jehovah not your allah and yeshu is the manifestation of Jehovah in human form,
@@IlluminatiCheckerboardflooring Only in your belief. Even some Christians do not see Jesus as a god, some Christians see him only as a messenger prophet... and in our faith (islam) he is just a prophet and we love him very much.
@@fatihsen7983 there is only one correct tradition, that of the Church established by Jesus Christ, “And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed” John 17:5

Not "He is the Life," but simply "He is Life." "He is Life!" I am a professional translator with a Harvard degree, 66 years old almost, and I have always been amazed by the oddity of the KJV Bible translation: "I am The Way, the Truth and 'the' Life," when the correct and only logical English usage - consistent with the precise meaning of the Greek koiné original - has to be "I am The Way, I am Truth and Life." Not "the" Life (as in "I am living the life!" which means some specific kind of lifestyle, like a Keto diet, or a spa vacation, or whatever) but LIFE ITSELF, all of it. "Jesus, the Word, is Life!" Life itself! Please remove the unnecessary definite article "the" from where you have it in this translated ode to the Resurrection of Lazarus.
@@seronymus indeen you are right, good sir. To be more precise, for some years my guide in christianity and spiritual life were Gospels and what I consider holy books of a christian denomination that doesn't fully exist yet... those are books written by Daniil Andreev. They were written 70 years ago, published in Russia 30 years ago and are now being translated into english: rozamira.org/en/andreev/roseofworld/ My youtube channel has most of Andreev's books in form of audiobooks (sadly, only in russian for now) and also one audiobook chapter is made into a film: ru-vid.com/group/PL5kcGCiqqC0DGZeVAfyi6tCcmz_d5Y1w6&fbclid=IwAR2r3HnFOVdjmG6Fz3DT-J1V3Jt7_DJ94dv7RpcaDE0pcNR1ThnCxPA8oK4 P.S. pls help me with making this stuff better known, I'm dying (both ironically and literally)
Could someone please put all the lyrics here or in the description, please? Only part of them are included in the subtitles. Thank you so very, very much.

@@AnnaJordahl Oh thank you so much! I had most of them, so thank you for filling in the words I was missing. Have a Blessed Holy Week and a Great Pascha!
I was searching for it myself earlier and couldnt find it in Greek. However, the composer of this hymn in 1800s is a Syrian Metropolitan, and it was composed in Arabic. The first translation was to English in 1986 by another Antiochian bishop. So I am not sure about the Greek translation
Thank you! One question: in the video here, it sounds like there are three voices/parts, but I only see two parts in the sheet music. Am I incorrect or missing something? Thanks again!
@@Hannah-tv5vr this group adds an additional ison under the high parts of the melody only, to fill it out more. Not in the music (and neither is the split of verses between men and women) but is a reasonable arrangement. I love this hymn!
