Smaller does not mean lesser. We designed the compact T/5i to give smaller sized spaces and systems equal quality sound, so while scale may change the performance stays the same.

I have my T5/i for more than 3 months now. I use it with a Dspeaker Anti-mode 8033S-II because I have no freedom of placement, having a tiny clustered room and only one spot to put a subwoofer. In my case everything is right about the T5/i: the sound, footprint, bottom firing, glossy finish (I pet it everyday... it's the one dust-free item in my room...), white color (blending my white wall ! ) It's almost impossible to find a product without flaws, but for me the T5/i is just that. Thanks Rel for providing such quality product and Happy New Year !

I was blown away by these bad boys. I have a pair of them as I run monobloc power amps and they make my kef LS 50's sound like very expensive floor standers. I can't recommend enough that you get two rather than one as it adds dramatically to you soundstage and stereo separation.

thought i'd come back to this channel and what i previously said really contradicts what i said before. after not using this for a year or so since i moved house. i use this for my pc room with a set of dali book shelf speakers.i am using a speaktrum cable since my amp is only 2 channel. the sub is probably too power for my room 3meter by 3 meter 2 meter high. so the vol is set to lowest it can go and the bass is still very noticable. glad i managed to get it sorted

Ok, so after a good few days of trying to set this up, doing what the manual says got my crossover spot on and the sub vol also spot on, I was getting none to very very low bass notice, I found out after you balance the sub you then have to adjust the bass settings on the amp it self (not so much the treble) and now the t5i adds the sub bass, ofc gaining more bass from the amp means the loud speakers also gain more bass but I guess that's how its mean to work (bass dial from 1200 to a out 1400 o'clock)
@RELAcoustics

Sir, I have decided to go for Rel subwoofer /s to enhance my stereo system comprising of Klipsch Forte-III speakers powered by Advance Paris X-A160 power and X-Preamp. My question is should I go for ‘one T9i’ or ‘two T5i’ as they will cost around the same to me ?? Pls do share your recommendation and help me.
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 4 года назад
Typically I would recommend the single T/9i for pairing with your Klipsch Forte speakers, since the T/9i has greater amplifier power which will help it to match the output levels of these high-efficiency speakers. However, feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and we will be happy to provide a subwoofer pairing recommendation for your system.

@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 3 года назад
Thank you for choosing REL subwoofers for your system! In order to get the best possible performance from your T/5i subwoofers, we recommend having them placed directly on your floor, even if it is carpeted. This will allow the subwoofers to couple directly with the floor, resulting in more powerful and deeper output.

@RELAcoustics

The T5 can be used alongside a newer T/5i in a stereo pair and the sound will be close, though they will not be a perfect match. Ideally both subwoofers in the stereo pair should be the same model.

I have a rel t5i connected to the back of a quad elete amp driving q acoustics 3020i via high level input which is very satisfactory. My question is can I use the stereo inputs of the rel and connect them to the back of my second system . The second system is a quad 24 and a quad 2/40 with wharfdale 85th anniversary speakers. I do not want to disconnect the existing high level inputs but rather use the pre out on the quad 24 and go straight into the stereo in puts at the back of the rel t 5i. Would that work Thanks
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics Год назад
Thank you for reaching out. The High Level input and the Low Level input function as the same input channel on the T/5i, and use the same input filter circuit but draw signal from different points in one's system. As a result, we do not recommend connecting to both the High Level input and the Low Level input at the same time. Doing so greatly increases the risk of overloading the subwoofer's input filter circuit, and since they function as the same input channel you will need to re-tune the Level and Crossover controls when switching between these two systems. That being said, the .1/LFE input on the T/5i is a separate input channel from the High/Low Level input, meaning that it is possible to connect both High Level and .1/LFE simultaneously. When doing so the main thing to consider is that the .1/LFE input completely bypasses the subwoofer's crossover filter circuit, meaning that it will be necessary to set a low-pass crossover within your preamp when connecting to this input on the REL.

I'm wondering if you can remove the feet and replace them with something else? I have some Isoacoustic Gaia III's not in use that I'd like to attach. Is that possible?
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 4 года назад
We recommend keeping the stock feet on the subwoofer, since these feet are designed to place the down-firing active driver at a specific distance from the floor to achieve optimal performance. Isolation feet work well with loudspeakers where you want to decouple them from the room, though with our subwoofers you actually want to couple them to the floor which helps to reinforce and project the bass energy produced by the subwoofer.

Would the T5i work well in 130sq ft room (9ft Ceiling) paired with Marantz PM7000n amp and Dali Oberon 1 spkrs? Or would I best with the Zero III given the crossover capabilities? Thanks Scott
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics 3 года назад
The T/5i, and the new T/5x, can pair well with the Dali Oberon 1 speakers, though based on the size of your listening room the Tzero Mk.III will likely be the better option for use in this system. The Tzero Mk.III will be capable of blending seamlessly with these speakers, and the combination of it's 6.5 inch down-firing driver and 100 watt amplifier will enable it to deliver deep and dynamic low-frequency extension in your room, without overloading the room or overwhelming the output of your main loudspeakers.

I'm building a standing desk w treadmill. Looking to get 2 of these, would it be ok if I place these on a stand? Or do they have to resonate off the ground
@RELAcoustics
@RELAcoustics Год назад
Thank you for reaching out. To get the best possible performance from the T/5i (or current T/5x) subwoofers we recommend placing them directly on the floor in your room, rather than on an elevated stand or platform. This will allow the subwoofer to couple directly with the floor in your room and use this surface to reinforce it's output and project that output into the room, which is especially important with down-firing designs such as the T/5i. By comparison, placing the subwoofer on an elevated surface can limit the dynamics of it's output and it's low-frequency extension. In your case, it will likely be best to place these two subwoofers on the floor on either side of your standing desk.
