My mother passed away a few years ago and my mother-in-law in Ireland passed away this year, so I want to do something like this for a lady in our neighborhood that’s much older and lives alone and doesn’t see her family very much. Thank you for always having such beautiful ideas I can share with people.
This was so sweet, I love it! Did you know vanillin and coffee compounds are part of what make the old book smell because they are what is the contents of the glue keeping the spine together and the smell they give off comes from the breaking down of the book!
My oldest had skin allergies when he was a child and the doctors recommended oat baths! It was very expensive and such a small batch for us a young military couple and today I marvel that I never thought to make it. Many mothers need these recipes and old remedies! We must never lose these knowings that have been around for ages. Your channel is such a comfort to me so thanks! 🌿🌼🍃
Your voice is so therapeutic! I think you could be taking "talking medicine" into new dimensions. I also love the aesthetics of your videos. Love from Germany to all the fans of our lovely Niamh
One of the reasons I love Sunday is I know that you're going to post a video. This was lovely, as always! I can't wait to try to make the coffee scrub. Thank you!
Oh how I need this , we live in Spain and the whole nation is in quarentee and everyone so very anxious. Many thanks just your voice helped today much love
@@marilynphan277 thank you for your kind words, I am a teacher and we are all working from home to keep our young ones busy. But I think this lockdown will more than 15 days. Keep safe too🤗
Hello again! I love to make my own body scrubs for use in the shower. The recipe is very simple: one part brown sugar, one part cane sugar or white sugar, and a light carrier oil to hold everything together. My favorite oils to use for my scrubs are grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, and apricot kernel oil. I write down my recipes and refer to them when I'm ready to make another batch. Sometimes I will replace one if the sugars with epsom salt or sea salt either for occasion or if my body is really sore from the two jobs I work. Sometimes I'll even use my scrub for my feet after soaking them. It's a luxurious way of taking care of myself!
You are so right saying that making these self-care products is self-care in itself! Just the process of melting and mixing and infusing ingredients is soothing. That’s probably also why I relax so well when I’m baking. I’ve just made a vegan silken tofu cheesecake with leftover stale crackers I wanted to use up and I can’t wait to savour it when I come home from work tomorrow :)
I make a lot of bath soaks similar to this. It can be horrible for your plumbing to let it go down the drain though, even if it's it's blended. I usually add everything to my mortar and pestle and gently bruise it then add to a reusable cloth bag and tie tight.
My selfcare happens every time I listen to you Niamh...….I just seem to instantly arrive to this very happy place and I find myself relaxed and constantly smiling. I am going to make the coffee scrub Niamh, I really love that idea, thank you! Mothers Day in Australia is the second Sunday of May. I'm sure your Mum felt like a warm hug had arrived at her door.....what a lovely treat for her. Stay well XX
Good morning and I hope you are well, there, across the pond. Such challenging times lately that call for self care. 🥰 .This is so interesting and natural. Your natural lifestyle has inspired me to be more mindful of zero to low waste. Thank you
I simply love your tutorials. I am just beginning my journey back to the way my grandmother raised me with almost zero waste and reusing items as much as possible. My husband thought I was nuts because I kept all the little slivers of soap and then melted it down and made new bars with it. Not so crazy now lol
I love making my own products and I couldn't agree more that they are incredibly enjoyable making as well as using. Very well said! Right now I'm taking a label off a jar to make Vapor Rub with essential oils and shea butter. As far as products I use regularly I use the body cream that you did a video on and I make a hair rinse with hearts from the garden and homemade apple cider vinegar, which is also a video you did. Then I have a sugar scrub as well. Great idea to use leftover coffee grounds. I will do that in the future.
Such a sweet daughter and thoughtful gifts! My Mom always loves the things I make the best. And I love to recycle cards and attach them to baked goods and gifts. Have a lovely day! 😊
Thanks for some new projects for those of us who are facing weeks of isolation in our homes. It is always helpful to have a new thing to do each day so that we can keep on the brighter side of life, and create things that we can give to people. These are challenging times, and through creating we can support healthy rhythm, caring for ourselves, and caring for others. I can also share these ideas with some of my older students who will need this kind of self and other care to keep them from spending too much time on their devices. Keep well, everyone!
Lovely. I have not made any self care item in quite a long time, so I have to thank the RU-vid recommendations for this. I'll try the bathsalt mixture on Friday. I don't have any dry flowers so it'll just be plain, smell-wise. As for the candles, I've been keeping the wax for a bit and need to order the little sticks so that I can make new candles, but that'll have to wait a bit.
I have never thought about putting coffee grounds and vanilla together! I will definitely have to try this! this was so special! I hope that your mother was pleased! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
I have recently discovered you, your voice is so calming. I am really enjoying the window into your way of life. Thank you for posting and providing a wonderful sense of calm. Your lilt is absolutely beautiful btw.
Just wanted to share that i did the coffee scrub and no poo (with chickpea flour) for the first time tonight. Your channel has been so inspirational to me.
Coffe grinds scrub is the best body scrub ever ! Never had that silky skin with any other product 💖 i use it on its own or add a little oil. The most heavenly scented (but not as efficient ) was brown sugar with coconut oil. I tried oat/powdered milk bath but didnt feel any soothing on my atopic skin sadly. Plus it swelled a bit weird. I wish i had a nice bushy eucalyptus to use in the bathroom too ! I tried the chickpea flour nopoo the other day and it seems promising. I need to practice more with it because i have very thick hair and it can be difficult to bring it to the roots. But it was surprisingly easy to rince ! Lovely present from someone who cares 💖
Genius! I feel so bad throwing away coffee grounds because they still have so much aroma even after a brew! And the addition of vanilla. This is brilliant.
Oh thank God. I've been waiting for your post for days. In great need of quiet, comforting, mindful, healing videos right now! Sustainable and sustaining. Thank you.
I love Sundays coz you always put new stuff up an l look forward to watching it. After a long tyring day of cleaning the house. It's good to sit an watch your videos. Your very inspiring an put me in a peaceful mood. Take care an enjoy your week. 🤗♥️♥️💐
Another great video! But what I really love is you are giving me "little red riding hood" vibes. Putting your goods in that adorable basket, I imagine you skipping along to grandma's house with your beautiful auburn hair. I love it.
Such lovely ideas, Niamh! I will try these for sure! I always look forward to seeing your lovely Sunday videos. With everything going on, I think it would be so helpful to see a video with standard pantry/emergency items, a reminder of cleaning naturally with products please. Here in Ontario the shops, even the huge stores, have been out of toilet paper, organic garlic, turmeric, and ginger all week. Seeing empty aisle after aisle, store after store for days on end is pretty jarring. Thank you for this wonderful, calm video. Blessings, M
I make Kombucha, elderberry cough syrup, and I blend colloidal silver lotion with almond oil, geranium essential oil, Rose hip oil, rose water, magnesium and DMSO to apply to my skin after I shower. Blessings, Niamh! Thank you for sharing your self care with us.
I made my mother a lavender sleep stick, some rose bar soap and I have already started saving my coffee grounds to make her a scrub for mother's day. What an easy peasy recipe! Thank you so much! I make a lot of your recipes. Going to make the deodorant one too. I use a natural one now but love the idea of making my own.
Thanks !!! I'll be making the bath soak today !!!! I don't have eucalyptus leaves butI will replace these with dried lavender and chamomille, shoul be nice too I think. Have a nice day .
youre right, Mothers Day in the US is mid May..what wonderful ideas and theyre perfect for gifts . its so relaxing watching your channel no matter the topic. tfs.
Since most of the world is stuck at home for a few weeks, these will be perfect for us all to be able to relax. I think I might make some up tonight. :-) I even have some freshly made candles on hand! Stay healthy!
The thumbnail was very attractive, and I just love your voice, Its very soothing. love the Irish accent (Right?) (I was just listening to lots of Americans, ((Dont ask)) and that just makes the Native accent more recognisable.) You've definitely earned a new subscriber, these are attractive and helpful gifts too.
I love making face masks with besan (chickpea flour), fresh homemade curd, honey & any available overripe fruit such as banana or papaya. I mix everything together & apply on the face like a paste. Keep it for a good 30-40 minutes until it dries up. Then wash it off with some ice cubes and cold water. This mask is very soothing & gives a nice glow. I love pampering myself with it 😁.
I love 💕 your beautiful accent and I can tell you enjoyed making these spa gifts! The basket was so adorable, such a beautiful Mother’s Day Gift! Thank you for sharing! Love ❤️ Sekhmet SapphyreSun❤️😻🙏🏾
What a beautiful, peaceful video and such a joy to watch. Thank you. Meanwhile, I must be the only person on the planet to have made coffee scrub...and hate it. I found it so messy to use and awful to clean out of the shower/tub, all of which took away from the zen experience I anticipated. It certainly did smell delicious though. Cheers to all, Ardith
Hi there! I've been binge watching so many of your videos lately & love them all! I'm a huge fan of your channel. I'm curious...you mentioned the jar you used was an old candle jar...I've been saving mine to hopefully repurpose, but I can't get the wick piece off at the very bottom to save the life of me haha. Any tips or could you show how to completely clean them out? Thanks in advance! :)
The music on the background is so relaxing. I made myself a bodyscrub of coffee and coconut oil. Adding sugar is a nice idea......like always thank you 💜
Hello👋 Thank you, for being with us today! 👍😊 Hope you, and your family are well👍 Keep safe, and healthy everyone! 😊🤗😷 Keeping you all in my prayers🙏 All the best! ♥ Moira From England.
I loved the video you shared making homemade products for mothers. I am Going to try them for myself and to give as gifts. Where did you get the beautiful wooden spoons that you use? X
I am just a puddle of relaxation after watching and listening to this video. Thank you! And I also loved the idea about reusing pretty greeting cards - so creative and less waste (actually, I recycle all paper, including cards - why not? ;-> )
All of these are so wonderful and I'm definitely going to try some of them! However, one thing I'd like to know is how to best store these products (minus the candle, of course) and also for how long you can store them until they go bad?
Good morning fairyland! What a lovely gift, she will love it. My favorite self care would be soaking in a bath with lavender epsom salts followed by homemade body butter. Have a great week, hopefully this coronavirus hasn't affected you and yours. Take care!
Thank you again. If you are worried about your drain for the bath, just put it in a muslins right linen bag or a small linen tea towel. Then empty and wash for next time. I love your videos.
How do you stop the coffee grinds from getting mouldy? I tried saving some used coffee grinds in a sealed container but they grew mould from the moisture and I had to throw it all out :(
