Relaxing Roman Music - Aetas Romana 

Usage rights - please read: I’m posting the usage rights and important information about my music right here in a comment on every new video so that they’re easily accessible to everyone. =) USAGE: If your project (any project at all, movie, photography, websites, live shows etc.) is non-commercial, which means it doesn't earn you any money, then you can use my music for free. Imagine being a peasant or even a "barbarian" in the ancient world, never having seen an actual city, not being able to read, having heard about it only in stories. And then you come to the city of Rome.

I am born, raised and currently live in Rome. I can take the metro and, in a few stops, walk beside the glorious remnants of my ancestors. Remember, western society was born here and all the roads trough time return to these hallowed grounds. Even my name and that of my girlfriend are from roman origin!

My homage to ancient Rome. Aetas Romana is Latin and means "the age of Rome". With this song I tried to create something that takes me back to the time in which Rome was at its peak and stretched from Britannia to Syria over snow-covered plains to scorching deserts. The song itself is not like Illyricum, which was meant to be as traditional as possible. In this song I chose a composing style closer to movie scores, which gives much more room for dramatics and feelings of awe and mystery. The first 4min are actually a different scale than most of the later parts, it starts with an Arabian scale and then transitions into Aeolian minor which is a classic European scale. So in a sense it can be seen as if you'd travel from the East into the centre of the Roman Empire as the song progresses. I have been listen to your music since I was 12 to help me concentrate on my homework. Now I am at my desired university and going to be graduate this year. I am still listening to them as I work on my dissertation. The accompany of your music allowed me to go through some darkest time of my life. Back when times and the world were much simpler and a much better place for the Imperium Romanum.

I think my personal favorite daydream about Rome is how it was more or less made for durability and resiliency. Concrete we’re still trying to truly mimic that was made stronger with age instead of weaker, holding together buildings made of stone and brick. How many generations walked down a street and it was the exact same way as their great grandparents saw at the same age, with a century between them. We so often call new and different the magical one but I seriously find that to be just as magical. Real, tangible heritage used everyday just beside innovation and change. Makes it that people themselves are the obvious change instead of their surroundings and things.

Adrian, we need a full album of this. love the Hellenic culture and even more so its mix with the Roman Empire and its history

Rome is generally my least favourite ancient civilisation (don't get me wrong, I like all ancient history, it's just the one I find least interesting), but this is just ethereal beauty embodied. The entire piece just instils this feeling of utter, immense, ancient spectacle. Bravo, Adrian.

Amazing place to be in the ancient world. Vibrant and full of technological wonders that had been lost after the collapse of the Empire. Low-class peasants living in vast apartment and shared-housing, while the middle-class and upper-class peasants were living in their own villas or buildings within cities. Had the same issues as any other major population centre; slums, violence, disease. But, even with all that, it was still a sight to behold. Vast wooden structures among the lower-class or servants. Villas of concrete and stone among the middle and upper class. Nothing like the dull colours often portrayed in films and books, but vibrant in various shades of colour for the materials, and the art depicted on and within buildings.

This would a good ambient theme of Rome if there was an open world game set in the Roman republic or empire. Entering the surrounding areas of the capital city itself would be a good way to introduce this music to the player 🦅 🏙

This resonates with me on a totally different level. We Romanians, descendents of Rome and Dacia, abandoned by our brothers and sisters to fend for ourselves, with only a hint of a memory of how glorious the Eternal City was. The theatres, cities and towns degrading under barbarian assaults, while we fled to the thick forrests, deep gorges and steep peaks of the Carpathians, ready to take back our lands when our enemies were weakest. Our elders told the stories of our great ancestors Trajan and Decebalus, and legends of the shining Constantinople (Țarigrad), our music sad and contemplating, our language being the treasure chest of countless memories...

On our donkeys, we took everything we possessed and started the long trip to Rome. From Jerusalem, we believed in Jesus and of his message so we began our travels to spread the message across the empire. As we began our journey, I thought honored that I'd go on a pilgrimage to spread Christianity throughout the empire. As we kept riding, even through Anatolia, we left the deserts behind eventually and entered the Baltics. We went through and converted people along the way, but most people rejected our message, then one day ... we saw them. A Roman patrol found us. I am writing to my loved ones or whoever will find this. Not a real letter. It's a story made by me, but I thought it would fit the song. Hope you enjoyed the read!

I always felt I was a Roman in some past life , that distant memory we have remembers being young , being in the military , being part of the Senate , having a large villa somewhere in the Mediterranean , having many children , many women , and servants , learning about many things of my time , then being old and infirm , then being in a strange world not of the physical environment ,,,,, I guess I enjoyed my experience and life so very much as a Roman that it has stood out even though all these centuries .

I did my last latin homework for the year while listening to this in a loop It made a great ambient and the best thing is that when I finished everything and came here to stop the song and go to sleep (because, JESUS, it's already 6Am) the song was also about to reach its end. I found this mix it seems by the glorious fortune bestowed by the gods. I'm learning about Roman history and military structure as part of the background development for the main character in my novel, and I just finished watching a grand documentary on the speculated origins of the Druids. This has got me so excited! Learning about Rome with the perfect accompaniment!

I get serious Black & White (game) and Assasin's Creed: Odyssey vibes from this music. I'm always fascinated by the Roman civilization. Can you imagine that in the world of primal barbarians there was this highly developed superior culture? Yes, the Romans were greedy, merciless and cruel towards the bordering tribes but you cannot deny their supremacy in every aspect. I would love to live as a patrician during the peak of the Roman civilization.
