Watch Paul Hindmarsh demonstrate the new Relay G10S stompbox plug-and-play guitar wireless system for your pedalboard, with pristine 24-bit audio quality, and a 130' line-of-site range.
The original Relay G10T transmitter sold with the Relay G10 and G10S wireless systems has been replaced by the Relay G10TII transmitter, which offers up to 7 hours of play time and 170 hours of standby time.

OK, here are some of the answers to the questions I'm seeing on this video. I was able to check this out and demo this at NAMM, as well as discuss the technical details with one of the Line 6 folks who actually worked on the design team. First off, it is completely compatible with any of the older transmitters. The receiver/base is a pretty robust metal and plastic. It runs off a standard 9 volt power connection - so none of the issues with the old USB connection remain. That said, you can still power it from the USB connector which could be useful if you are recording with it and near a computer. It will fit a Stratocaster just fine. I have a Ibanez JEM with a recessed jack and it even works (tho it's very close) on that. The channel selection can be set for automatic and it works just like the old one. You can set it to a manual channel to avoid interference or if your band mates have other units. It may or may not work with active pickups - that depends on how the pickup jack is wired. The unit ships with the L-shaped adapter which allows it to work with active jacks by changing the 3 ring plug on the transmitter to a standard TS plug. If you want one that folds over closer to the guitar body, check out the brand new Sennheiser unit which will be on the market soon. The guys at the Line 6 booth said that the receiver/base unit will be sold by itself and I'm hopeful that is the case because I will definitely get one. And with that, let me add that I think these are great units. Very clear, great reception, great sound, very reliable (other than the power supply deal - which I personally have not had an issue with) and very easy to use. Line 6 heard the concerns about the base unit and responded with the new pedal sized receiver. Nice. I've tried the Boss ones, Xvive and others and IMHO, this is the best of this type.

I could be wrong but seems he’s plugging into/out of the angled adapter (not visible) when playing the acoustic to likely resolve the active pickup issue. Shame it wasn’t resolved with this release but with no change to the transmitter guess that would be asking too much. Otherwise good improvements over the G10.

You guys really need to build a G90 with a charging point on the front like the ‘Shure GLX’ with a G10 style transmitter that just pops in a front panel charging point and then straight into the guitar...that would be amazing! Any plans for such a thing??

Agh, damn you Line 6. I got the G10 unit, decided to live with the mini usb thing, bought another portable power supply for it. A matter of maybe two months or so after I buy it, they release this, which has a 9v power option, which is what the first one should have had (why mini usb?). I use a lot of Line 6 stuff: the Helix rack + controller, the G30, G10, PODs and all that over the years; I actually had a Guitar Port. I know they release stuff fast...but this time I feel kinda burned. I'm really curious if they would offer some kind of upgrade path for this. I know a lot of people that are going to grip about this one. This is a WAY better unit. Buying it would essentially just burn the cash I spent on the other one.

I got a $10 step down board that converts 6-32v down to 5v and use that on the 18v 100 mah output on my CS7. Works a treat. I have a USB cable with the magnetic breakaway plug, so there isn't much chance of damaging the USB port. I'll probably still get one of these eventually. But the G10 is pretty good and you can replace the batteries if your handy with tools.

I own the G10 and this looks way better. Having it's own power supply is essential, IMO, as the G10' got power via the flimsy mini USB cable that would eventually break. And channel options are a big plus too. I still wish the transmitter folded/angled though like other competitors, instead of jutting out of the guitar.

Any future plans to allow the transmitter sync/charge 1/4 in jack to also function as a pass-thru, so if for any reason the transmitter stops working or encounters interference to be able to plug in an instrument directly?

I love my G10. But the transmitter dongles are quite vulnerable to accidental damage - particularly if moving around the home. I'm on my second one because of this. So how cool would it be to have a Variax ( or even Revstar ) - with the circuitry of the G10 built-in. In the case of the Variax it could require far less components than an external G10. No need for the A/D converter ( can just use the internal A/D circuitry and digital feed straight from the Variax circuitry to feed the digital transmitter itself. No need for the rechargeable battery and associated components (just draw off the power supply + battery in the Variax ). No need for the plastic case. And a whole load of "break" would be off my mind.

Pat Howell You can resolve that issue by getting one of those knockoff Mag-Safe adapters on Amazon. I had one fail before I figured that trick out. Line 6 had me send in my G10R only and they replaced it with an entire G10 system, new in box. All I had to show them was my Paypal receipt from buying it second hand for 50 bucks on eBay. While I was waiting, I bought a used G10R for 30 bucks, so now I have two complete systems with a total of 80 dollars invested.

Can I assume that with having a manual channel selector that I won't face the same 1 second random drops that my current G10 Receiver suffers from? I really love the concept of wireless but my original G10 suffers from random dropouts that make it useless. Willing to upgrade to this if that has been fixed here.

Finally added a proper power supply. The crappy USB port on my G10 broke after only a few months. There was no physical damage, it just stopped receiving power. That was the only down side to the system... well that and the fact that when used with a guitar with active pickups the transmitter began charging when plugged into the guitar instead of transmitting, probably coz of the battery. And when using my Les Paul that has a built in boost, the boost would creat a horrible noise by interfering with the transmitter. Other than that though...

I've worked with so many loopers, but unfortunately non work that great with Distortion or heavy rock. The overlapping simply becomes too muddy. If the G10s can deliver with crunchy leads and rhythms, then I'm sold.

If your guitar input jack isn’t for stereo then just swap around the two ground wires and it’ll work for both passive and active pickups.

Ok, been using the G10 for over a year now. It was obviously not designed for a working musician. I love the transmitter but the base is charged by a flimsy chord which is useful if you are within 8" of an outlet! I use the G10 for my acoustic instruments which makes it easy for changing instruments quickly on stage. For my electrics I prefer the Sure system. The G10 will cut out around strong wifi systems in Casinos, hotels etc. I do like the shape of the new base since it would fit in a pedal box, but I don't use a pedal box for my acoustic instruments! Fender/Line 6 really should put this stuff out in the hands of working musicians for feedback before introducing it!

First two minutes they must have mixed up whether they were demoing a looping pedal or wireless solution. I dunno, I love the concept of wireless to some extent, but what I've found is that unless you are professional and have a full time guitar tech who charges your battery packs and swaps them mid gig as they hand you off guitars, it's cumbersome to keep on top of charging things (my disdain for bluetooth apple earbuds reminds me). But the biggest issue I've found is that with two separate wireless solutions, Roland Katuna Air and Line six G, when the battery is in a certain depleted statae, the system will still run but the tone definitely suffers. You can hear the difference immediately when you plug in a cable. I then reminded myself that the gigs I play aren't on 50+ foot stages, and in the f5 square feet of real estate I have when playing with my band a cable is not an issue. God I was hoping for some new Variax models

@antmax
@antmax 5 лет назад
On my G10, because it uses a modern L-ion or Li-Po battery the output is pretty consistent till right at the end when the falloff is very sudden. You probably only have 5 minutes between you noticing it doesn't sound quite right and it shuts down. After owning the G10 for 2 years and 1000+ hours playing aprox 15 hours a week, I now have to charge the transmitter every other day since the battery has a noticeably shorter life.

Joe Venezia I don’t know what magical dragon blood device you have but the transmitter is battery powered. Lithium. That’s what you are recharging. It’s not drawing power from the guitar jack, maybe in 2078
@antmax
@antmax 5 лет назад
@@joevenezia1822 It does have a battery, it charges when you plug the receiver into the transmitter base. If you always have your G10 receiver powered up and the transmitter plugged when not in use then it might seem like it doesn't use a battery since your battery is going to always be at it's maximum capacity whenever you use it. My 2 year old G10t still works for 4 hours, just 6-8 hours is being a bit optimistic these days.

The Line6 Videos often drop the ball on essential details. Your question is exactly mine. I have Spider V 240HC head. it has built in G10 receiver. So, for me I guess it would be This unit - pedals - my existing G10 on final stage output of pedals - 240HC?

Rick Drumm Not sure what you’re listening on. Sounds just fine here. Hook up is the same as any other wireless system - it gives you a guitar level output. Plug that into whatever you want to. Pedal chain, Helix, lowz interface input etc etc. line6.com/relay-wireless/g10-g10s

@@LotusMan01 Sitting is fine on most guitars. I thought the same but it doesn't get in the way on my les paul or PRS guitars.. I don't use a cable in the study because I have three pugs and kids messing around and I'd prefer no cabled they can chew, pull or trip over. Another benefit if your using single coils is that the antenna that is your guitar doesn't extend from the amp. It gets cut off at the input jack of the guitar so my strat tends to be quieter than normal.
