It's finally dry enough to move the in-calf cows to the calving field, which means in turn today we moved last year's calves out of the shed and onto the hill. They're looking a bit matted, but their winter coats will fall out soon and they'll be a fluffy as anything.
It's very noticeable just how tiny little Laura is compared to her siblings. Her mum had no milk, so she was bottle fed when she was little. You can see here here - • Milkytime! - but it's clear that powdered formula isn't as good as titty.
Regular reminder: these cows all know me. I've raised most of them since birth and spend time with them every day. Do not approach cattle that you don't know and don't have the farmer's permission to go near. They are bigger than you (even little Laura) and can move surprisingly swiftly if spooked. Better to view them from the other side of a fence than find out the hard way who's the slowest runner in your group.
