Never ever release your bird in the wild. They do not have the adaptations to survive and will die within a few hours.
Domestic budgies are specially bred to be kept in cages and the point of having budgies is to train them and play with them and let them sit on your shoulder. They are in different colors than the wild and they cannot camoflauge. If you leave budgie in a good size cage and with toys to play with they will not be unhappy and is safe and secure. Wild budgies live in desert and in the outback and they live in flocks to protect each other. Abandoning your budgie in a place that is not the outback will make your budgie protectionless and they will die soon.

REALEASING DOMESTIC BIRDS IS MURDER!!! parakeets, parrots, cockatoos, ravens, all bird species bred in captivity do NOT know how to survive. They were born in a cage and if they are released into the wild they will get eaten by predators or starve to death. They do not have any skills to help themselves in the wild. People say that birds hate to be caged, but most of them feel safe in cages, but if they do not, just let them fly around a room. Do not release them, they will die within the day.

The sad thing is that most of the people who would do this wouldn't even see this video because they don't even call them budgies, just parakeets. Seriously, they can't even be bothered to do any research to even find out their real name, much less contemplate that they couldn't survive in a ruthless, alien environment after having lost their survival skills after living a captive life. Take care of your little budgies folks, they're little angels that bless us with their presence.

So do the wild ones in Australia lol. You do realize that feral budgies have been thriving in Britain for ages because people released their pets into the wild. All animals get sick, all animals get hunted. The real reason that you shouldn’t release them is because they would be considered an invasive species that would create competition for native bird species.

I found my budgie jack in the wild last August. He showed up at my wild bird feeders with house sparrows. Took a week to catch him.

My friend actually has trained her parakeets to come back to her after she releases them (no abuse involved) so its a win-win! Unfortunate end for these cute and innocent birbs tho :(

For all of you bird releasers out there, Please do not do this. Domesticated birds cannot be released into the wild, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal in some states, birds don’t have the proper skills to find food or survive. it’s going to be hard for them because they were raised in a proper environment, yes, but for they’re entire life, they’ve been held captive. they’ll most likely get caught by a predatory animal and get eaten. this is coming from a 10 year old. do your research please

If you want to release Australian parrots, first keep them in a larger cage, then release them into the open once they are used to living in the open environment.

Rather than release them into the wild, just clip their wings so they cannot fly, then release them in a room with a few cats... If you truly love your cats, then you will have so much fun watching them play!!
