Dear Mr Carsauce, I'm not sure it was a good idea to make these videos. To admit faults exist, then downplay the issues impact, makes for strange viewing. Ford hasn't agreed to replace many vehicle's for owners with faulty new models. Some owners can't/won't drive them because of many mechanical and tech issues, causing safety issues. The small percentage you stated is actually Fords warranty passmark, not how faultless the cars are. Maybe your minds are clouded by borrowing and flogging a vehicle which you didn't spend your own money to purchase. All vehicle's are tested properly by Father Time...

A big issue I see that Ford is trying to overcome, and hopefully will do with future models, is to shake off the reputation they have had for many years. Ford have had some bad models, engines and transmissions in recent years and Ford’s connection with the less reliable brands of Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Volvo and Lincoln is a point of question for their current line up of vehicles.

“Less reliable” 😂😂. You joking aren’t you! I’ll give you a little insight into the trucks we use for mooring ships.. a 1999 Land Rover defender td5 hi cap, a 2000 ex army Falklands para Land Rover td5 110, a 2013 Land Rover 110 puma crew cab and a 2017 Ford ranger 2.2 crew cab! The ford didn’t even make it to 28,000 miles before needing a new clutch, the add blue pumps been deleted and the front shocks needed replaced 2 weeks outside of warranty.. it’s also had plenty of warning lights on the dash and it eats tyres! The 1999 110 we’ve had for 17 years and has been faultless apart from a clutch slave and general wear and tear parts.. that did have a clutch around 130,000 but wasn’t gone just making noise! 2013 has been faultless and the old ex army Land Rover which regularly pulls well beyond the recommended weight has also been a great truck. That’s had a new starter, fuel pump and the ECU needed replacing and it’s also had some welding… the marine environment it’s been working in hasn’t been kind but it still works it’s ass off when needed even after 23 years! I’ll guarantee you that our ranger won’t still be working like the land rovers do after this amount of time!

The issue is more a case of perception. We have had Toyotas and they have not been any better than any other make that we have had and as for getting issues fixed our worst and only ever real fight was with Toyota that was for replacement under warranty for the air intake and controller on the RAV4. Thanks goes out to the ACC and consumer affairs' for sorting that out. The Mitsubishi service was second to none just fantastic service the Ford experience has been nearly as good never had to fight them for anything though we haven't had any faults with our vehicles we are on our second ranger and neither put a foot wrong just great. Yet if you listen to all the BS from those that have never had one they must be the worst thing going. People seem to forget the 2 Billion dollar fine that Toyota got for crapping on their customers with the 2.8l particulate filter issue just denying it and taking months in may cases to get the car back to the poor people they shafted. Yet then again you only ever here how great they are.

Its infuriating that reviewers these days say oh yes this feature does not work or you can just do this to get around it. My soul hurts for the furture of workmanship in the world. All that attitude does is allow companies to produce less and less quality and you people make it ok. You as a reviewer do not and have not done enough research!. If you did you would know that the vibration happens primarilly between 50 - 75 kmph generally and most are not savy enough to know that the ford customer support person has been told to or does not even know himself enouigh and will just throw you off track or say its all in your own head in some way or another. I had a guy try tell me it was the AT tires they put on the vehical from factory Bahahahhaha. I was also told in person that they are only replacing tail shafts in trucks that have the issue reported and this sublimanily means after the constant pushback from ford employees if you push hard enough through there bull shit responses that its an actual issue and its NOT normal only then will you get some help. I had my tailshaft replaced around 3 weeks ago and guess what the new one was even worse, it wasn't untill it was sent to a proper driveline shop that it was fixed. ( mate of mine is in line now for his 3rd brand new replacement vehical as his was not fixed even after driveline shop worked magic) Your facts are wrong and if anyone is missleading the public it is you! Manufactuers will alwasy sweep as much as possible until the rug is lifted off the floor. I won't buy another ford after my dealing with the way the company is run and the tactics they use. I'm sure they released some good models and have some great track records out there, especially in the USA but 80k + we and you should expect more for your money, especially from one that has been around as long as ford regardless of where its actually made Ford your are still responsable for your product. I'm sorry mate your content on this video has pushed me to unsubscribe I won't support a person or watch someone that povides non statistical founded arguments and this gives me a good indecation on what kind of reviews your giving for other cars.

The forums are an echo chamber for bad news. Majority of people with good experiences don't bother posting and don't get much attention if they do. Same as mainstream media, it is drama, tragedy and crime that get the attention, not functional reality. Have had mine for a year and drove around Oz towing a Tvan, no problems it performed very well. My last car was an FJ Cruiser with a 2 inch lift, loved it. The stock Ranger doesn't have the clearance of the FJ but it is a better with a load and much better passenger comfort. Most of the difference is due to longer wheel base and independent suspension vs having a differential hanging down. The electronics on the Ranger are very intuitive and with no lasting glitches. Early I had a software glitch related to European requirements which was quickly sorted, I assume, by automatic update via internet connection. The gears can occasionally be clunky, I am told it is because of the active learning system. It does seem to have improved over time. The engine is great and surprisingly it's pretty economical with stock trim.

Permanent AWD implies that drive is always going to all 4 wheels. What this has is a clutch based system that engages and disengages drive to the front wheels as and when the "computers" think it is needed. It is not an AWD in the traditional (Landcruiser/Prado/Mitsi SS2/Subarus etc) manner. It is more aligned with the system in the F150/Ram1500/V8 Patrol.

This is why Hilux, Triton and DMax will always prevail… “You don’t know how much you’ll need it, until you need it the most”. When ECU’s and mechanical play up, you can always find someone with access to diagnostic tools, the knowledge and parts to fix the issue. “When you need it the most”… shouldn’t be locked down to a dealership!
@Sabumnim666
@Sabumnim666 Год назад
Hilux? the most overpriced under tech old style unreliable yes unreliable the old ones pre 2000 were great these days no way and they still are uncomfortable at nearly $80000, the Dmax still has a shite traction control especially when compared to the Ford and the Hilux well pretty much every other ute, it is not that reliable look at the class action on the front of the car cracking and falling apart. The triton has been a great ute but it is still the same car at around 15 years of age in reality. As for locked down to a dealer go and take the D max or Hilux newest version to a mechanic to unlock a infotainment or a fault code, good luck.

Ford is still combative against warranty claims. The sidewalls of all four tyres on my Mustang cracked after 3 years, 12000kms. I made a warranty claim to be told Ford don’t cover tyres. But I said the parts are defective. I was then told Ford don’t cover parts they don’t make themselves. I said you do realise Ford probably doesn’t make most of the parts. I showed them where it expressly said in the warranty that tyres were covered. Still took me six months before I got my new tyres. Ford also charge for software updates when trying to fix warranty claims which is a breach of consumer law.

I agree with you but this all new ranger really is not all new The chassis is tweaked not new, the 2.0 bi turbo is tweaked not new, the 3.0 V6 has been around for a lot of years and has had its fair share of problems earlier but has had a lot of updates and teak eg this is the third crank I believe and by all reports has been pretty well sorted, the transmission is 5 or 6 six years and has a better torque converter but again its not new Take a look at the LC200 a great car but far from trouble free it took 3 to 4 years to get sorted. These days most issues is the support from the manufacturer that is the issue and despite what people may have you believe they are not great any where. Ford 10 mill$ fine Australia, Toyota 2 Billion$ law suit class action they had pay Australia, Isuzu going through a class action for the dmax front cracking and falling apart and a few other issues as well. All these plan obsolescence at 10 year 200k km mark is just absolutely ridiculous! Thanks for the review, however, its fine for you to say its the journalists fault for driving the vehicle hard, umm isn’t it a 4x4 designed for harder than normal driving? Basically what your saying is, this vehicle is only suitable for inner city latte sipping individuals, because it sure wont hold up out in a real country area where parts are scarce, it would be doing real work carrying anything from hay to fencing equipment and anything with high tech is virtually useless if the local mechanics cant fix it. Let’s look at Paul Marics experience with his new Raptor, Paul is a car expert reviewer, his new Raptor with just inner city driving had the rear diff replaced at 3500 KMs. No journos involved. How can you say its all ok, when by your own admission the technical issues shutting down is not good enough, especially for a vehicle in the $83 grand range such as the Wildtrak.
@Gravattack
@Gravattack 8 месяцев назад
I am looking for a ute for the same things you are. Mind if I asked what you ended up with? And I admit I watched all Pauls vids and put the Raptor at the top of my list, then saw his Dif vid. 3 weeks with no car, and about 3 months before they looked at it. With the clout he has! We'd have to live with it. Or carry a round on your back for a few months

I always laugh when the "Toyota Reliabilty" crowd pipe up, search 2 Billion judgment against Toyota re DPF issue on th Hilux and 200 series had which Toyota denided existed. Look up 200 series air cleaner issue where dust was able to bypass the air cleaner due to poor design and destroyes the engine, then they continued the same design in the 300 series. Look up 4x0verland, who loves the Toyota brand and 79 series in particular by the way, had a brake rotor issue on a brand new 79 series Toyota refused to admit to. Most manufactures have there faults, it's how they respond to and resolve the issues. Irrespective of brand, find the vehicle that closest fits your criteria. Research the faults, if they can be overcome? and at what cost? or can you live with it? eg. 200 / 300 series aftermarket air cleaner box or the after Market combined radiator/transmission cooler to replace the crap D40 Navara one with a common wall which corrodes and allows coolant and tranmission fluid to mix and stuff the transmisson.

MOst issues with toyota can easily be fixed.. even a decent mechanic off the streets can figure out a toyota engine / transmission... and by the amount of market share of toyota, the amount of issues they have is actually reasonable when considering propotions.. FOrd on the other hand are not just simple issues, their issues will lock you up with the dealer for several months

Nice try Greg.... you really tried. Just admit it mate, Ford Rangers AREN'T GOOD. It has all the gear, but no idea. A Toyota Hilux will pull a Ford Ranger out of the mud any day of the week, month and year. It's ok Greg, you will join a long list of many former Ranger owners who'll be switching to the Hilux in a few years when your Ranger will start being a huge pain to your wallet.

Surprised the EGR coolers were not mentioned - given they are flagged somewhat regularly and, depending on how they fail, they can take out the engine with them. He also didn't mention the Everest Ad-Blue heaters which people commonly report failing. There is likely a difference in expectations between having a press car you hand back and buying one of these cars with your own money.

I bought a brand new Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3DT in May 2023. Now in December 2023 it has just over 6000km on the ODO. All driving on road. Just after I got it I had to get injectors replaced after it showed engine error. Then I also had issue with tyres and had two replaced. Then a week ago another error with powertrain not engaging 4A. Could only drive in 2H. They had to replace a sensor on 4x4 mechanism. In total now 6 days without the vehicle. Fortunately all issues were sorted out under warranty. I can however tell you one thing. There is no way I will go on a serious offroad trip with this thing.

I got rid of a 2003 Ford Ranger with less than 100k km on the clock because Ford said at a regular service that it needed new injectors. Ford said that was “not unusual”. A number of subsequent Toyota Hilux’s went way past that without needing new injectors. Including a 2002 that I’ve still got at nearly 280k km. my daily drive through three of them is a Amarok V6 with no issues. All of the vehicles are city cars although all are 4 x 4 or 4 motion😊

As an owner of the New Gen Ford Ranger based in the UK it’s an awful experience. 11 dealer visits in 8 months. The Turbo pipe is the first issue it’s not bonded strongly enough so it splits regularly I’m on the 3rd pipe. Interior rattles (B Posts both sides) behind seat belt housing rattles all day until they removed the rivets. Breather pipe to the fuel tank spilt, SAT Nav freezes only from cold start up! Good pick up very poorly executed.

it's not a new engine according to Sam Purcell of the Drive web site " It’s not a new engine design, however. Known as the ‘Lion’ V6 and marketed as a ‘Power Stroke’ diesel in American markets, it was until recently used in the Ford F-150 in the United States - where it made 186kW/597Nm. The engine design dates back to 2004, and has been used in a variety of applications. There has been 2.7-litre and 3.0-litre variants, with single and sequential twin-turbocharged iterations. The engine has been used in Ford (Territory) and Land Rover (Discovery, Range Rover Sport) applications, along with Jaguars, Citroens and Peugeots."

Hi from South Africa. I own a 2019 2.2 diesel single cab with a sixspeed manual box. I do not know, or heard about reliabilty issues at all. Our trucks are built locally, and not in Thailand. Maybe you should start importing yours from us. Better quality control seems to be the answer. Even the engines are made in Ford's Struandale plant in PE. Think about it.

This obsession with “all new!” bites car manufacturers on the ass all the time and Ford is no different. By the time they iron out all the issues to the part where a car is reliable, they start all over again. Look at the Mitsubishi ASX. Automotive journalists hang shit on it because it’s a 10 year old platform but yet it’s one of the best selling in itself class. Why? Because it’s reliable and not full of all new bells and whistles. Nothing goes wrong with it BECAUSE it’s not “all new”

3.0 is not a brand new engine…basically a refresh of a early 2000’s pugoet/Citroen/ford engine (rehash of the territory diesel). Yes it’s got plenty new parts to maybe qualify for new, but the inherent design flaw has NOT been addressed. Ask any land rover or pug owner about broken cranks (oil starvation from undersise oil galleries when not serviced on the button or sooner. And the 3.2…I can’t believe you didn’t pick up on the EGR water cooler. 150km they will fail and should be treated like a cambelt and just replace it as a service item. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re in the market the Ranger certainly is a good wagon, just not the best (reliability) out there.
