We will go over how I made this Star Trek Voyager LED Stand Off sign. I added a Relief carve to the Base Frame, & Stained the wood rather than paint it black. This Sign Looks Great with the LEDs on or off.
There will be a couple follow up videos on how I used PixelCNC to create this from a vector file created in adobe illustrator.

Amazing job! Looks like a hard thing to put a value on if you were to sell them due to the hours people don't realize is needed. I'm new to your videos and they are very helpful- Thank you. Have you figured out a method of pricing your work if you sell it? I am just getting into my Longmill up here in Ontario and having fun! Please keep the videos coming!

Thank You! Really happy with how this one turned out. As for hours spent making it, I have found a way to nearly cut the carving time in half, and it will be in an upcoming video. As for pricing my work, I have built a good group of clientele that understand they are getting custom made pieces, and that there is a lot of design work, cut time, and build time involved for what they are wanting. I have a project minimum charge, then add on cost of material and time spent. This works for the things I do, and my clients. Another consideration, I am a hobbyist/artist, not a business mass producing things. So I can charge what I need to, to make it worth my time and cover costs. A lot of the projects you see in my videos are for my personal use, or gifts I make for Friends and Family. You really have to see what your market will accept in terms of pricing. I found that defining my worth, and turning down jobs that did not meet that, gave me more freedom and easy to work with clients. I know some people will use a formula Cost x 2 or 3, Machine time x $Y, and then Machine Time x a Consumables Multiplier. Others keep it very simple and work off a set profit % margin. I think this works good if you are making a lot of repeatable items. Thank You for watching and I hope this helps in terms of finding out where to start when considering what to price something at.

Maybe I missed it, but did you laser engrave the acrylic? It looks awesome 🎉

Used a spring-loaded drag bit to etch the acrylic on this one. Thank you!

No it is not. You can try it for free, just no saving your project (but you can export gcode), no saving as 3d or depth map. For what it does, you actual own it, no monthly subscription, not on the cloud, and it's a single person developer, i think its a great program. I do have an affiliate program with them, however I make no money on it. For every 5 licenses bought thru my link, I will be giving away a free license.
