We are with you all the way Alan . Fair play for posting video. Things will improve. Little or no spring sowing in Wexford. Most land not ploughed yet....we will all get there ....
Great video again. It's a bloddy tough on every aspect of farming. Doesn't matter what type of farming ur at. Whether you work on a farm in an office or any type of work, it's hard on the head to get up every morning to rain. A few fine days will help lift spirits
Put the cows out this morning, didn’t have an option, 3 bales of silage in the yard and we feed 7 a day so it’s either go out or starve! There is a woeful wig of grass on the paddocks but they are very tender! The plan is to give them a quick run around and not take it to bare and hopefully not do to much harm. Going to feed the last few bales to the other cattle in the yard after the dinner and they will have to be evicted tomorrow! Luckily we did get some of the ground spread with fertiliser about a month ago so we have plenty of grass, the pits are full to the neck and we won’t be spreading slurry till after the silage is cut except for the parlour washings which will have to be spread since there is no room to put it in another tank. If you had asked me if I had enough silage last august I would have said loads probably a couple of hundred to spare and then we started to feed silage in September and now we have none, as my father used to say,” thems the joys of motoring “ I think the big problem is that cows are not going to peak at all anywhere close to where they should so we are going to have less milk than expected. It’s been a tough time and that’s for sure! Thanks for the video.
The quad spreader is a great job. It’s been a hard 9 months alright and no sign of improvement up here in Co Antrim but as you say we will all be grand in the end. Like my father always says as long as it stays outside the door.
That's a handy agitator what make is it, if our winters are going to be like this from now on due to climate change we will all just be hobie Farmers in Ireland
A farmers abiltiy to whinge and moan is unbelievable they have prefected the art . They think nobody works as hard as them or nodody is as hard done by as them ..such cry babies
@jennybyrd9979 the exact opposite in fact . The weather effects my business far more than farmers . We works under sea level pipe jacking in the absolute worst of conditions. . We have to travel all over irealnd and uk .away from families. When there is a problem we don't cry and moan and put our hand out to the government. Famers are entitled cry babies.......farmers love the " entitlements "
