Non-Jew (atheist in fact) checking in! Interested in the history, culture and traditions. I love these deeper dives, helping me to understand the faith and history. As a citizen of earth, all people and all faiths interest me!

Wonderful. Every time you mention something like the history of Bar Mitzvah, I wish you would say more as you are hitting a lot of the topics that have interested me for years. However I will be patient and wait for the appropriate episode. Thanks again

If I were a postgrad in this programme (and I know that I am not), I'd be particularly interested in three things: The delta between personal piety /praxis and prescription, Folk religion and practice as opposed to halachic religion (which you hinted at wrt Chassidei Ashkenazi), and The multi-branched Shabbat oil lamp, which seems so important in mediaeval and early modern Jewish representation.

Amazing. Deep. And precise! So thoughtful and inclusive. Thank you for sharing in detail about your ethical wills. The story about the Kotzker Rebbi was priceless.

Dear Henry, what options do I have for asking hard questions aside for YT membership? Do you have a Patreon account? Will signing up for a course on your website work for general hard questions, or only those specific to the topic?

Always wanted to visit Carpentras . Although Jews were expelled from France . They were allowed to live in four Papal Cities in Provence , Avignon and Carpentras among them . The Pope Jews suffered humiliation but kept alive and locked in ghettos, following Christian theology. They were the only Jews in France although few in number that survived throughout all the expulsions of the Middle Ages . All the way up to the French Revolution. That’s why not a trace of a cemetery or a Jewish relic can be found in all of France except in this area. R’ Gabbai made an enormous effort to uncover the ancient cemetery of Ramerupt where a lot of the Tosefists descendants of Rashi lived some 30 km from Troyes , where Rashi held his Yeshiva and according to sources buried there.

Shalom. I must say I am not Jewish neither do I count myself among the Christians or Muslims. I liken myself as one of the other nations who left Egypt as part of the Exodus, not belonging to a tribe. Which leads me to ask... Whatever happened to those people who left as part of the mixed multitude? any direction or references to this study will be helpful.. Todah form Trinidad and Tobago.

YEHOVAH's request of Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac was a reminder to the Orthodox that they owe a debt incurred by Adam. YEHOVAH paid that debt by sacrificing his own son YESHUA. The Israeli Department of Antiquities have a sample of YESHUA'S Blood as proof found on the right side of the Ark of the Covenant as evidence. .
