Thank you so much...as a single female I was struggling.. just bought a weedeater cuz I needed to cut my yard and I thought all weed eaters was the same so thank you.
Just acquired one of these. Runs great thought I would save the aggravation and see how it's done right. Thank you so much for posting it was a great help 👍
I want to thank you so much for the video. My boyfriend was at work and it is a new Bolen Weedeater. I called him and he said it was new and he didn't know how. So I searched on RU-vid and found this video. You explain how to do this excellent. Thanks again!!
Oh thank you. I was wondering why mine wasn't advancing line.... I that 4 minute mark tip should remedy that. Thank you!!! Still new to bump advance weed eaters. Great video!!!!
Marcia E I really appreciate the video I have obviously been doing this wrong for the last 25 years and I’m completely amazed that it still worked for the last 25 years but this is so much easier than how I’ve been doing it so I totally appreciate it lol
This was a great tip! I was wondering why my string was getting tangled inside the head of weed eater. I will definitely give this a try. I thought video would focus on how to string the line around the spool without it coming loose but I think I can figure, very carefully. Thanks Mr Looney
Thank you. I watched a few others before I made mine to see if I could do a good video. I don't have many good videos, but I do think this one is useful and turned out good. Thank you so much for the kind words!
I am glad it helped! I was having an issue as well, so I figured I better include that. Sometimes it pips out when it runs, but better to ensure it's right before we start. Thanks again!
I wish I knew about this RU-vid video sooner. My weedeater & I fought many aggravating restring battles lol Ty for your video my friend Misti recommended it as she recommended it after she has this weedeater & recommended it to me. I bought this from Lowes a few yrs.ago ,so far so good except string battle of course its only real drawback.
Yea, sometimes it's just one simple thing. I don't think I made a big deal in the video about that, so hopefully the comment will help people if they are having the same issue
Same model I have I bought at Lowe's five years ago, I originally had the boulins straight pole weed eater wanted to go back to get same one again but finding out that they changed the way the spool spun which my original one spun in a clock wise position, the newer ones spun counter clock wise which was very awkward to me as if I was uncoordinated using it in that direction so researching more into their other models which is the BL110 spins clock wise which is what I wanted, the only thing I didn't like bout the BL110 is it's bended having to bend my back all the time where the straight pole model was longer to reach further out not having to bend my back, nonetheless I am to this BL110 it gets the job done but one other thing is the spool it came with I don't use it don't like the double wounded one can get jammed more then the single one so the straight pole Bouline single spool works well in the BL110.
Hey man, I have really enjoyed your tips on string replacements. I now need tips on trading out the head because I would like to try that weed hog or whatever that type of head it’s called. The one with simple double twines?
Not sure if this is what you are looking for ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UI9AmrQ_ffw.html ... it did weeds okay, but didn't like trees, fence or brick!! I will look into a weed hog, sounds like something I need. Thank you!!
I just bought one new in a box. I have the .95 Echo 8 side. My question is what do they mean by fresh fuel, any suggestions for labeling fuel so they don't get mixed up? can I use the unleaded I use for the lawnmower with the additive provided for the 250cc?
I would use nonethanol fuel, this will prevent the carburetor from getting clogged up as easily. you will mix oil, or you can go to Lowes and buy a can of premixed fuel. What I did is buy a can, and then I started mixing my own. you can buy 2 cycle oil at Lowes as well, and then add the non ethanol fuel. The instructions are on the oil, and it has markings to help you with the 40 to 1 ratio.
Thanks. I unfortunately watched someone else's video before I went and restrung mine this morning. It must have jammed up about 5 times on me. Curious the counter clockwise winding because on the bottom of my spool it says to wind it clockwise. I'll be sure to do it the right way next time.
The coil portion should move up and down. Press it down, then use a pair of channel lock pliers on the smaller bump cap. By pressing down that other part, it will "lock" the wheel so you can use the channel locks. Good luck
Probably not. If the black end piece is just spinning, it is probably stripped out and will need to be replaced. If you are just unable to unscrew it you may just need to turn harder!
So question. Would There be a reason why the little thumper camp thing won’t unscrew ? This weedeater was given to me by a coworker it’s a 160 not brand new of course but I can’t get the bumper thing to unscrew
Yes. The screw (bolt) inside has become stripped. So if you are spinning and it’s not coming loose it’s probably striped My recommendation would be to order new bump cap and “cut” the old one off.
Snaps? Or snags? If your line snags or gets hung up, you might be winding it too tight. When you wind it you want to try to go layer by layer and not too tight or it will get stuck. Also, while it's running, you have to "bump" it on the ground to release more line. That is why the bottom cap has a spring, to tap it on the ground. Make sure your cap is freed. Watch the whole video, I have a key step at the end.
If the cap is spinning you will have to cut it off. (the plastic that holds the bolt is probably stripped). If it's not moving, you need bigger tool! Might have to order a new cap either way
First use and the knob on the bolt came off. I found it back aways from a freshly trimmed path. Can I glue it back on or do I have to replace it completely?
brand new, wow, hold the outer piece that the line comes out of, and the use a wrench and try to unscrew the smaller bump camp. you can apply pretty good pressure, but if it doesnt come off, I would exchange it...
I do not believe so. You will need to buy the 160. That is basically the difference. The 110 is just a weed eater curved shaft. The 160 is the straight shift that will allow for different attachments
Top is going to be the one closest to the slots that hold your line for you. So wind that one first. Press it into the slot to hold the line then do the “bottom” one. Hope that helps
just so happens I made a video on that very topic!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6aFKtWyPXIM.html hope this helps, or just go to my channel and search bump cap
I have a video for that if you go to my channel then to playlist and go to the Bolens. There will be a video there. Basically you will need to order a new cap and cut the old one off.
@@MyLooneyBin Thanks the centrifcal force tightens the cap. I watched another video where a guy uses channel locks to remove the cap. I had one in my tool box and I was able to remove it without damaging the cap.
wont move? are you able to unspin the cap? you should also be able to push the plastic piece on the outside of the cap ... watch this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6aFKtWyPXIM.html
it has a couple issues, but many weed eaters are made the same way, it's not just Bolens, and it is at an affordable price. But I definitely understand your point. I would like to look at a better design, which one do you recommend?
First of all in the beginning, you talk way too much. I am already stressed out and I want to hear about you and your friends. The other thing is you need to get closer to show where the holes are and you need to say which way you wind up for string left or right? And at the end you’re poking it through things that you can’t see from where I am watching you so please get closer and then also you don’t explain how much strength do you need hanging out of the Weedwhacker a lot of things are missing, but I think I got the most of it just slow down a little bit get a little closer I’d be more specific
