Where did you get load data on using longshot with steel loads? I bought a Lee Load All 2 and the Lyman 5th edition shotshell reloading handbook, and neither of them have load data for steelshot loaded with longshot. I've found some longshot on sale online, and would love to pick some up and start reloading, but I also don't want to blow up my shotgun..... any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@livingintheprairie1517 is there any chance you can send me a picture of the Longshot data you do have, I really don't wanna blow my face off and I can't find any
@@tylerrettig4224 Ballistic Products has Longshot load data if you look at the TPS wads. It will have a link with shot data for just about ever hull, shot size and type, powder, etc. but it's all for loads with their TPS wads.
I'm sure you found out by now, but there was no powder in that first one!! The irony or your "Not responsible for your stupidity" description had me rolling!! Did you have any success with the teals?
Hah! It is in SELFIE MODE -> mirrored :D nice crap! I was thinking that I get little bit drunk at cold grill party but I'm not! :D All the best in 2022!
@@livingintheprairie1517 dude, I;m grill man .., no one cares about freezing asshole who take care about meat ... ;) until they realise it is best what they can eat ;-)
If you're shot isn't at or about half a pellet above the wad lip, put an overshot card on the top of the shot column and then crimp. You will not only get a better crimp, but you're also sealing the round that much better. Also with new hulls, rotate the round about 1/3 and reapply the final crimp 2 more times, rotating 1/3 each time. Your crimps should stay tight.
yes you can adjust the powder in a mec bushing by adding tape to the inside of the bushing to lessen the amount...if you need more powder...you go to the next size bushing and add tape to lessen it to the correct amount
How do you know how much to put in it and if you wanted it faster or what you would need for big ducks and geese and how to know what psi to not go over
@@willrisinger8784 that's why shotgun reloaders all ways go with published loads. And I all ways weigh my powder and shot drops. Precision reloading has there load data at the bottom of there website for steel shot. And it's free. And I go by published load data.
@clks1165 I'm using the patternmaster classic extended range. One of the boys is using the snow plow, and the other is got a code black goose. But all patternmaster
i like your little operation ! nice and Compact usually everyone i know personally that Reloads fill up a 6 foot table or Workbench i bet if you bought a small electric motor off Ebay (cheap) you could fabricate a Auger for your Hopper that should eliminate you having to bang on it between dispensing. i’ve seen little motors for under $20.00 that can runoff of batteries or even a plugged in AC to DC converter i personally save and reuse Converters from kids Toys , Cell Phones , and electronics but those can be cheap universal ones at Walmart or wherever
Sounds complicated. I like to just keep it simple. And tapping the side just make sure we are getting all of the drops close as possible. Good idea tho 👌
Have you try 2 3/4" hull before for you waterfowl loads? Im now finally reloading some steel load the one I am doing is from tps load data from ballistic products. 2 3/4" cheddite hull/ primer, 23 gr of longshot powder ( i put 22.8 gr for the first 8 test loads which im planing on going down to 22 gr for the rest of my 192 loads), 2 3/4" tps wads, 1 1/8 oz 492 gr of steel shot ( for the first 8 i use daisy bbs which are b shot .170 mm. I'll be load the rest with 4 or 3 for ducks), fold crimp going at 1250 fps with 10,800 psi with 23 gr of powder at 22 gr it should get the load down to 10,330 psi which should keep the load in safe psi.
Not really, I'm a 3 or 3 1/2 hull for waterfowl. Here in the Prairie the shots are away longer than we like. Not much cover to hide behind. But I do 2 3/4 for doves.
1250 fps is pretty low for steel, look for Alliant Steel powder you can get it up to 1500 fps which is what you need if you want to kill stuff at 40 yards
i dont see hodgdon longshot listed in the loading data on the percision reloading load data sheet. is it listed or comparable to something else? or am i missing something? i mostly see blue dot and 800x. any advise would be appreciated as im new to this
@@livingintheprairie1517 I'm gonna load 1000 BB up in STS hulls with titewad for goose and duck. I use a Dillon 750 for my metallic reloading but I bought one of these on a chance because I just won't use it that much...if it doesn't work out then I'll get a MEC and put this one in the prepper pile
@@thastinger345 love my MEC's got the 12g 3.5 and the 10g. But it's pretty hard to keep up with 6 guys that I feed for shells but it's nice to because they all ways find components.
It should be the very 1st page of the TUPRW123 wad sheet for 12 gauge 3" steel data it is like it's like the 4th one on the page.. And I will read you what it says what it says it says Chad 209 long shot 26.5 -T UPRW123 wadcolumn XYFE25020 filler filler wide and that's an ounce in an 8th steel shot.
Here is what I've discovered with this loader/plastic powder bushings/Longshot combo....static builds up in the bushing and powder clings to the inside of the bushing, so after about 20 rounds, you'll start throwing low powder charges that are about 1.5gr lite. I've solved it by going with the next size larger bushing, throwing 20 or so charges to let the powder build up inside the bushing, then start loading. Of course, you can modify any of the bushings with a round file to make them a little larger or nail polish to make them throw less. I only load 2.75 BB in mine, so I've custom modified a couple of the powder bushings to throw 23.5 or 25.5gr depending on the wad I'm using (read the one I can find at the time).
@@mightyjoeyoung1390 Wish it were that easy. I've tried it and it doesn't work. It isn't static cling, it is that LS is "oily" and physically sticks to plastic pieces and forms a hard coating of power grains, it'll stick like that to the powder hopper as well.
