I am skeptical of the stated source for this recording. The boot LP I sourced it from had other errors identifying sources. The REM Timeline website, a great resource for what they were doing nearly everyday has nothing for this date and has them in Athens working on some indy music film project. But, I tell you what, these are the best versions you'll ever hear of most of these tunes. Absolutely sparkling, especially Skank, their long, lost show stopper from the first six or eight times I saw them, the sweaty hands held high climax of the evening. Then, it was gone, although they played it sideways and called it 9-9. There is a lot of tape hiss but I wasn't about to apply noise reduction to these wonderful nuggets.
