As quoted from the book 'R.E.M.- Inside Out' It's too bad Mike "absolutely refuses to play" this song live. This would be such a great song done live these days.
Yeah, a lot of times I just assume songs on an album are just instantly written and recorded at that time...it's interesting to find that some songs are pretty old...both Just A Touch and What If We Give It Away date way back to 81.
According to the page R.E.M. Concert Tours on Wikipedia , The band was NOT at the Capitol theater in NJ on the date you have here. They were there on October 12 of that year, Maybe they're wrong? I saw that show by the way (10/12/84)!
@skonedr R.E.M. always wrote songs on the road and tried them out in setlists so its a little bit older then 1986 this is the little america tour from 1984 (ok got it all from the web i was 8 at the time lol ) but hey if i can find it you must have done it by now to 7 years later :P
Was this from the Capitol, Passaic, New Jersey ?? If my memory serves me correctly, which is not always the case ;} ... I was there ... thanks for the post !!
this makes me feel like i'm 13 again and it's 1987- when i was listening to life's rich pageant alot- as you get older you get numb and forget about raw feelings- man he's serving you no interest!
