I really love some of the Nigerian songs, I was really into this song, and just vibing without understanding the meaning of the song, the song is truly amazing, now that I understand the meaning of the song that makes this song even more beautiful, I love how you explained it too, you are a graceful, sweet, smart and beautiful young lady, your man must be a lucky guy, you are a keeper. Stay blessed.
You are so sweet and kind and I appreciate these lovely words. Amen and I’m Glad I can bring a deeper meaning of the song for you. You being able to enjoy it without fully understanding the words shows how beautiful music is 🙂
Af. Am. woman here and I love afrobeats and often find myself understanding without help which is lovely Thank you for the breakdown on this one The line "drop your body armor" made me think of "let your guard down" The breakdown of the song is really poetic and I can appreciate that for sure
This is the second video I've watched and after watching and understanding those two songs: charm and mogbe by Asake, I've realised that Nigerian singers are really always romantic in their music but their language to a foreigner doesn't feel romantic at all. 😂😂 There's always a wonderful idea behind their songs. It's just wow!
Its "suffree with dis body" meaning softly or gently with your body. "Make we run am on a lowkey" meaning "lets do this gently, under the radar, no noise, smooth, slow romance ❤❤
I love this song❤. To me it’s a ballad to an immensely powerful queen from a young suitor. In it, Rema mentions Oya - who is a strong force of nature associated with wind, lightning, and tornadoes - following his command almost in an attempt to sway or ‘Charm” her into doing so seductively because there’s no other way he can have her.
Hello!❤ One question (by the way, my language is not English, so I'm using Google translate, I hope you understand), what does "soco" mean? Thanks for your videos, I'm new to your channel and I'm already amazed💟
I love Nigerian songs and they have produced some amazing music! Rema is incredible. Thank you SO MUCH for the translation. My daughter sings and she wanted to write a chorus to sing with “Charm” kind of like Selena did with “Calm Down.” She thought it would be fun to come up with a girl part/response to the song. So you have made it so much easier with your translation because we ALLL know how a woman would respond to some of the smack talking guys do 😂😘
Yasssss Simbihawt I was just listening to this song lol. This is my jam. He definitely was using his Charm in this song and he got me ! Not too much on my papa tho Rema , even tho you are richer than him lol. 😂 also I wanted to ask you how did you get the confidence to post videos on here ?! I wanna start even tho I don’t have many subscribers coz they’ll come later. I do makeup but like I feel like I need to talk to people and I’m scared 😂 would appreciate your advice!
Lol right 😂...I was so nervous about starting RU-vid as well. But the best advice I heard a while ago was someone saying something along the lines that you should start it scared, start it nervous, start it imperfect, etc. I was unsure still because what people would think, my Yoruba isnt that great etc. but I just did it. There was no harm in deciding to do it. I told myself I would give it 18 months to determine whether I enjoyed RU-vid (regardless of views, subscribers etc),but no matter what I will stick with it it for the entire 18 months and then stop if and whenever I want to...hope this helped and let me know what you decide 🙂
Mmmmmm, you really hip to the different intricacies I love the breakdown. Please do Wale by Candy😭😭😭 song is deep and I dont even understand half of it
Thank you 🙂. I lived in Nigeria for a bit when I was younger so there is some familiarity there, I stay in tune/touch with slangs and sayings and I get help and research!
I think in the part where he said 'e get as you dey move wey i no go gree' , my interpretation is: Baby you're moving in certain way I cant stand it(because Im loving it so badly)- I wont take no for a answer. You must be mine.
Thank youuuu 🤎 Lol I definitely get you. I try to do my best with the time that I have but I won’t be surprised. People have been doing it before me too. My prayer is that I’m favored 🙂
@@simbihawt yeah but they don't do it like you with you you get it straight away I am white guy who loves black people music Tyler ICU tumelo mnike and libianca Ayra starr rush people culture and Afro beats music and dances and I don't understand the lyrics to the song that's why this is needed for people like me and my friends ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not to be disagreeable, but I take exception to the mention of “broken English”. It’s Pidgin English, a creole language with a standard grammatical structure and lexis. ❤ 🇳🇬. Editing to add: NEW SUBBIE, because you’re awesome!
You are 100% correct. I caught on to this and in my more recent videos I say Pidgin English. Thanks for correcting me with love and nice having you 🙂🤎🤎
Just wanna give some context to the lyrics. In the beginning of the song, Rema said “I know say you senior me” which means I know you are an older than me. Jalopy means an old car. So when he says make I ride your jalopy perhaps Rema is referencing her age.
Thank you ☺️ I looked up the song and it is by a Kenyan artist named Jabidii. I do not understand the languages that they speak in Kenya so I will not be able to assist you with the breakdown. I mainly help with the Yoruba language which is home to Nigeria and also some of the Igbo Language and Nigerian pidgin english which is home to Nigeria as well. Hopefully you can find the meaning soon sorry
Nice trans... It'd be cool if you always mention and reference Nigeria while you're speaking to the pidgin so to help your viewers visualize what and where the music is coming from.
The way she paused at "baby front and back boom baka boom" part. Swallowed a bit of saliva before saying u know what he means romancing. She couldn't be blatant. Lol. Thoughts in her mind. 😅
You’re welcome 🙂 Also I noticed you really like songs with deep meanings. I just listened to the song. I remember you requested If E Happen for Lagos and that was my first time hearing that song too.
😂😂 sorry I missed this in the video! Soco as I know doesn’t have any real meaning but how I see it is like dance (based off how Wizkid used it in his song called Soco )
E get as you go move wey I no go gree is trying to paint a picture of how seductively the lady is moving and that it would get to a degree that he would lose control and ....😉😉😉😜🤯🤯🤯🤭🤭😠
