I talked to Andreas Rönnberg (the game's creator) proposing to make an Afraid Of Monsters remake and he simply told me "no, sorry. I don't let anyone use my intellectual property." So I'd run it by him first. Unless said remake is not being distributed to the public.
@@noahbrewer2476 i sort of agree with this though, i much prefer the retro graphics as it makes it a lot cooler (in my opinion) and more scary, but it would be cool if there was a updated version that wouldn't interfere with the original
looks really sick but has a too big feeling of abandonment if that makes sense id also really wanna see how this would have looked like if you modeled it after how nordic apartments look like on the inside of the hallways
I just beat Cry Of Fear for the first time, it was amazing even tho I spoiled myself by watching lets plays of it when I was younger. I would probably do another playthrough on the highest difficulty if it wasn't so buggy, thats why I'm hoping for a remake.
That hallway section looks great, nice attention to detail! One note though: Around 8:40, when mentioning the photos of the bright lights - the blue light you are seeing is not blue because it is bright, it is because it is daylight. Daylight comes in at around 5500k on the Kelvin scale, which is blue light. Interior lighting tends to be more orange (not always) around the 2900-4000k range. Keep up the great work, hope this tip helps in your endeavors!
Imagine dissing a goddarn Half-Life 1 (1998) mod. For a nearly 30 years old engine, CoF is absolutely stellar. Also many of these changes are just sooo off the mark when it comes to Scandinavian arcitecture and materials. That extra clutter just for the sake of clutter is also a cancer that is ruining modern games' visual design and READIBILITY of the map designs. The apartments are meant to be STILL LIVED, not a condemned building.
a half-life 1 mod that released in 2012, that used a modified version of goldsrc to implement (at the time) modern visual techniques like bump mapping this isn't for a game, its just a fun little 3D render
4:00 I did this exact process inside Hammer editor to make doors in the source engine and im pretty sure its how rumpel made the doors in the actual game
Im ngl I thought cry of fear was in the source engine because of how good it looked, since it looks way more like half life 2 than it does the original half life
I’ve been making a slight fan port of CoF to GzDoom and have been given permission by Andreas since it’s a little experiment and not a full “remake” or “demake”. Besides, this is only recreating a level within a modeling program. These aren’t for a playable game its just recreating areas.
Andreas Rönnberg doesn't allow fan games or remakes of either Cry Of Fear or Afraid Of Monsters. I'm solo dev with the capability of easily doing a remake. I asked him for permission to remake AOM and he briefly told me no.
@@obelisk2887 many thanks! I'm making 4 other projects as of now, actually. One is more half life inspired with some very subtle paralells to Rönnbergs work.
