Are the pops and bangs on the Cobb map safe for a standard cat? What helped the decision to go with Cobb and not the next level up with Mountune? I love how they integrated the cruise control buttons to switch between maps, pretty neat. Looking forward to next weeks video mate 👍.
They are indeed safe. Not that much more than the standard pops and bangs, just more random and natural sounding. The next vid explains things more as well giving some detail and examples of the pops and bangs. Tomorrow.... cheers :)
Hello, so you will either need to go to a tuner or you can do a similar type of tuning to me and contact MSD who will then get you to do data logging that you will email to them and then they will send a custom tune back
Thanks Adam the first video that shows the actual process of Cobb unit. I'll look forward to video that shows how driving experience has changed from FPM375 👍👍
I added the driving skill a while ago ;) If you meant the driving to show the what it is like, I was aware that if I did that in this vid then the vid would have been crazy long so the follow up video is coming next friday! :)
Hi John, it was't cheap, about 900 I think but then the accessport can be uninstalled and sold on in the future so it isn't wasted kind of thing. Cheers :)
I got my COBB access port from mountune is stated they are unlocked. I head alot about them being locked so IDK if they changed that. I am running stage one due to only having the intake and exhaust. My catless down pipe will be installed soon im just waiting to get the right connection, im still using the v-band clamp.
In the USA Mountune is different the Mountune in the UK. USA Mountune acts as a Cobb Pro Tuner offering OTS maps and custom maps via a vanilla Cobb Accessport, much like I have done with MSD, but Mountune in the UK modify the Accessports to only be compatible with their OTS maps as well not offering any custom mapping options
Hi Mark, unfortunately the Mountune version of the accessport doesn't let you add other tuner's maps as far as I know but you can still download the accessport manager software from Cobb and do updates in the same way. Cheers :)
Very interesting to hear about you picking MSD over Mountune due to the amount of Mountune parts on the car. Can't wait for next week's review to hear your thoughts on it👍
'this guy' knows exactly what the drive modes do which clearly you don't. You have the exact same amount of traction but less traction control, which would only be doing anything in a slip situation (most of the time not happening). That plus I turn it back on by pressing the little button anyway
