Hi @Michael Gill, I agree the reMarkable has been designed with purposeful functionality and there is more to come. I've changed my workflow around the rM2 so that I've minimised distraction to as little as possible i.e. "not online". Having said that in a youtube interview "Getting Things Done" that I did, it was interesting in that a viewer used his rM2 to manage distractions i.e. all channels of incoming data, so whilst he didn't want distractions necessarily he used his rM2 to manage the distractions - ingenious.
I had rM1 and rM2. The real product is rM1. rM2 is a bit thinner and fancier but really the real deal was rM1. Maybe rM2 has more performance but I did not notice the difference. I do miss the buttons on rM1 and the paper feeling + neat screen (rM2 has a much more glassy feeling and leaves some sort of marks on the screen). I think rM2 is a draft of rM3. The main aspect is the battery life which is much better on rM1 than rM2 (2-3 days versus 1 week now).
Hi @blob idibou, thanks for your insight and means a lot since you have both devices. Interesting you mention you miss the rM1's paper feeling. Apparently the creators wanted symmetry in that the front and back of the rM2 has a consistent paper feel - I suppose not many us get to feel the back of the tablet often only the front. How long have you had your rM2, it would be good to know about your experiences and if the rM2 has replaced your rM1, you say "I had" do you have them still? Cheers🙂
Hi @@MaverickNextGen, you're welcome :) Got the rM1 on kickstarter a few years ago. Then, sold it to buy the rM2 which I have since last October. Love the product :) The information below is my experience from a practical daily usage: - writing on rM2 felt more "glassy" than writing on rM1 (rM1 had more of a paper feeling than rM2) - the rM2 leaves marks on the screen which you notice mainly when it is turned-off (the rM1 did not) - the jagged lines (not as noticeable on rM1) The significant advantage of rM2: - the battery life (it's nice not have to charge it every 2-3 days but rather every week) - the design (it's really beautiful) - the magnetic folio/pen (super easy to use especially that rM2 feels more fragile than rM1) I did not notice significant improvement in terms of performance. Even if the specs show a difference, this is not something I noticed on a daily basis. Even if the the rM2 is thinner, on a daily basis it does not make a big difference. Buttons have pro and cons; with the rM1 when I was holding it with 2 hands or even 1 hand, it was easier to change pages with the buttons (the swipping is nice but requires to move your wrist compared to your thumbs with the buttons...). I have the same little daily issues as with rM1, when you write on the side of the end of the screen at some areas, you notice that the ink line is not alined with the pen. All in all, the improvments from rM1 to rM2 are more a nice to have than a must have. But then why not :-)
@@blobidibou9503 thank you for your experiences! I have to admit I find myself wanting for buttons too for the efficiency - i'm sure they will incorporate a "tap" to previous/next page features since the DDVK hack has this in reading mode. Do you use your rM2 for work or personal use?
@@MaverickNextGen both personal and work (a lot for work actually). I considered using the DDVK hack after watching your video. The features are really cool. But I got a bit cold feet at the end haha^^
