@@ronronn3148 pen and paper is messy and time consuming when it comes to organising notes, editing notes etc. Now, the remarkable is extremely overpriced for what it does, but it still has a valid purpose which is to provide as many of the benefits of both paper and digital note taking together.
I was on the fence for a long time and finally bought the R2 last year, and received it in December. I sincerely love it. I use it for personal journaling as well as client meetings, and website mock ups. It’s a wonderful device and I like the single-use function. No notifications, no app distractions. And it writes like paper, way better than PaperLike for iPad. No regrets here. It’s a terrific device.

I bought one and regret having missed the return cut-off. After initial excitement, I found it frustrating in the extreme to use, specifically the lack of speed in screen refresh. I found myself gravitating back to my iPad which is now my go to note taker. Sure, I miss the amazing battery life, but everything else the iPad simply does better.
So the poor screen refresh affected you while you were writing, and not just turning pages while reading PDFs or other files? Or maybe you were making many changes while writing? Can you explain more what you mean? Thanks for your honesty.
I currently have the ReMarkable 1 and I love it! I use it every single day. I have ADHD and I really wanted a device that would not distract me with needless time wasters. After struggling with deciding between an IPad, Supernote and the ReMarkable I chose the latter and it has rocked my world! I’d love to upgrade my device, but the price is awfully steep to be replacing every 2 years.
It’s amazing what a little design will do. Even on video the monochrome Remarkable looks much more inviting as a writing experience than an iPad or an Android tablet. I’d love to hear more about the OCR capability.

Great review! I've been watching several, however I'm a bit concerned at the seemingly slow response of the UI elements after tapping. The pen responsiveness is wonderful in comparison. It would be interesting to know their planned roadmap, that would make it easier to gauge whether to hold off for now until there are hardware updates coming or if the majority of improvements will be their OS for the near future.

How are you liking it? I don't sketch or do any artistic. I'm an accountant and I'm constantly taking notes on note pads, stickies, clients files, and sometimes it becomes a mess, I lose important notes or have to many. I want it to have all my notes in 1 place as the physical agenda plan hasn't worked for me.
@@paulaqueen7872 So far I love it. The templates are a great feature - especially for note taking, as well as the calendar view note pad. I also love the cloud sync feature and the ability to organize my notes into folders. Well worth the purchase!!

I had it for almost a month, used it only 1 of them (I will explain why) Device wise, it is very good. The feel is very good and I liked to both read and write with it. I used it as journal, notebook and to read books/articles. The fact that we could take notes on top of a pdf was very useful. Now, why only a month? Well, my 90$ pen's tip cracked and that made the reMarkable2 unusable. I saw a lot of people complaining about this, some pens fell, others didn't. This made me concerned regarding the durability of such pen. My pen didn't fall, but after all it's a pen which is something that might easily fall by nature and the magnet on the side can't prevent that. So risking to break a 90$ pen each time it falls is quite uncomfortable. Either way, I thought mine could just be one of the defective pens, so I contacted custom support. They answered me right away asking for pictures, that I sent them in the next morning and never herd from them for weeks. Since I was reaching the 30 days that I was allowed to return Remarkable2 and have a refund, I just did it. They eventually contacted me after asking the refund, offering a new pen. I was sad, because I was liking it and had no support. I was really mad, because I could see the marketing investment they did, since they constantly answered and interacted with people in social media, but then they had no investment in customer support. The end result is that I did return the reMarkable2 and I won't buy their products, because I don't trust them. I got back to a paper journal and an Infinite Book for note taking and mind maps, which is working perfectly for me. So TL;DR reMarkable2 is a good product, the pen's durability is questionable and the company sucks, so buy it at your own risk.

Hi, Could you please let me know if this has any backlight like Kindle paperwhite version? Kindle paper white has a mild backlight which helps in reading in the dark without straining eyes. Would love to know if this one has the same functionality.
Total Waste of money. After paying $529.82, the device lasted for less than 10 months. It became unresponsive. I reported to support team. While they were looking into ticket (yes its a slow process, no direct helpline) The device stopped working all together. And even its under warranty, team has nothing to offer. I used to recommend it so much, but very poor life. Always kept it nicely, just working from home, no transportation or damage or even a single scratch, wasn't expecting such a terrible experience.
An e-paper tablet would be a great way for working outside after being stuck in the home for the past year. I'd love to be able to read PDFs in the park next door without straining my eyes.
We would absolutely LOVE to have this in the office! The number of notes and paper I use drive the boss crazy! It's also hard to find things back in my notes and this would really step up the game and allow us to show our clients a new technology item available to them!
This would be a brilliant piece og kit for my woodworking business. Sketching for customers, noting measurements on jobsites and filling out my order sheets on pdf. You absolutely sold me on this, and it would increase my productivity a great deal.

I really liked seeing the screen comparison towards the end since protecting my eyes from glaring screens is a current requirement. I have been looking into the Remarkable brand since they came out with the first edition. I now work in Non-profit and take EXTENSIVE notes that I have to go back, type up, and share with everyone. I truly need something to keep me more organized and improve my work experience. I agree that other tablets would allow for distractions that I do not need. @@billrush72 yes! I'm in love with it and use it everyday! My only issue is that I dropped the marker from a table top and broke part of the plastic that stabilizes the nib, it still works fine even if it does have a very slight wiggle now, and I think for as much as I paid for it the marker should have been able to stand up to a less than 4 foot drop. I've seen other people complain that the marker is easy to loose, but it magnetically clips to the side and I've never misplaced it. There was a new update that allows you to upload to Google drive, which is fantastic and shows that the development team is really listening to what we want. Overall I'd say worth it, but maybe skip out on the expensive marker and just go with the basic marker.
That’s exactly why I’m in the market. I’m in IT, tons of PDFs and note taking with constant new job functions. I blast through note pads while note taking. This would be a game changer and definitely worth the investment.

I recently got a reMarkable 2 and have been loving it. It's working so well I'm looking into getting one for my wife and daughter as well. My boss saw mine and ordered his a week later. My only complaint is the desktop and mobile software is too slow to sync. This is an issue when I want to access a note that is on my tablet, but I don't have it with me, rare as that is. It shouldn't take me less time to walk to the other end of the house and retrieve my tablet than it does to view the notes on the cloud. That said, still a 9 out of 10 for me too. :)

Seems like an excellent product for brainstorming, sketching, and click note inboxing! Especially as you could send it on to Evernote. I wonder if Notion, Obsidian, or if even Readwise could eventually be integrated software wise with this.

Thank you for the thorough review. I got an iPad Pro last year… I thought I‘d use it for handwritten notes way more. But even with a Paperlike screencover it just doesn‘t compare to real paper. I‘d love to win a reMarkable since I‘ve heard many people say how right they got the paperlike writing experience on this device.

Wonderful review, and thank you for the opportunity to win one. As someone who typically goes through over a hundred paper notebooks a year and has worked through other paper like devices without much success, this would be a game changer. Remarkable would fit the bill in every way.
I ordered mine yesterday and am looking forward to getting it. Why did I get one? Well I'm in sales and I generate copious amounts of notes. I have used a note taking app on my ipad but I didn't really like writing on shiny glass coupled and the fact that the app failed once I had several hundred note books lead me to the conclusion that having a dedicated e-ink device would be the way to go. For me having all of my notes at hand and searchable is of tremendous benefit. It should also lead to a more tidy desk I'm hoping :)
Most people will opt for the protective folio making the price almost 600 dollars. Product is great. But I would not pay over $280 for the base device. Not to mentioned they’re probably saving a great deal from the very low specs they’re using.
Brilliant review. This item is ideal for the busy individual who does not want to use mountains of paper when doing research, wants to have access to past notes with ease, needs to be able to edit, change, add to notes etc, on the go.
Just got it. I have a rental property that has 3 different pdf's for the contract and 2 additional pdfs that must be given to Tennent as well. Why I wanted it: My printer ink always seems to run out fast and then rescanning the contracts after signed so I can email a copy and have the copy digitally is definitely doable but a pain in the ass. Why I think its worth it: Saving on the 40 dollar ink cartridges and time spent will make up for the cost of the ReMarkable 2. My one issue that I have noticed so far: I was happy that you could even email from it, however the one downside I ran across is you can only email 1 pdf at a time so either I send 5 separate emails (5 pdfs) to the tenant which is annoying or come home and transfer it to my computer then send all the pdfs in one email to the tenant. Annoying but I am only going to complain this once because it is saving me from printing and scanning so it definitely makes up for it. Plus I would eventually transfer the contract to my pc to back it up anyway. So I would give it a 4.9 out of 5. How long I have had it: I have only had it for 2 hours. I am excited to use it on my next contract.

Been thinking about getting an ipad as well, as I’ve been saving up from part-time jobs and it also did make me realise how I wont be able to use it as much besides reading as well as school work, since i can use my phone for watching youtube or other social media. I have to say, it's an really interesting product. I saw it a while ago and the only thing holding me back was the software for the steep price. I can acknowledge how much engineering goes in such products which justify the price, but the software can still at the moment see some improvement, like you said, but I would give it a go for sure of I had one

Which led me to the rM2, then to other tablets and e-Readers. Reviews like this one are invaluable! Based on my personal needs and wants, I keep coming back to the rM2. What I need now is for my reMarkable 2 to help me read because sometimes I would just like to relax and listen to the words. Other than that, the reMarkable 2, is definitely the best tab for me - I hate papers and ink stains.

I'm flitting back and forth from 'but it'd be so good for my business' to 'can I justify spending that amount on something that may not work for me?' I'm super picky with the pens I use, but I absolutely write everything by hand. I can't process things in my mind unless it's written down by hand, rather than typing. So, here's hoping!

I have been looking at a Remarkable since they first started to advertise, however as a student it is beyond my price range. I would love to have one, but it will have to wait. What sucks is i could use it now. My eyes get tired on the iPad, but I use the iPad for so much more for my thesis work
