As a one year anniversary special for the channel (as well as an Easter Special based on the day this was uploaded), I decided to cover the locomotive which the starting date of this channel is based on: LIRR 404! This DE30AC had two MTA "Meatball" Logos from the 1970s and 80s placed under its numbers from October 2018 to July 2019, and was considered an unofficial heritage unit by many Long Island Railfans including myself. This locomotive is also my favorite DE30AC of all time since I saw it frequently when I was younger, and because of it being an unofficial heritage unit (as well as being the first person to see its two "M"s before video footage of it was uploaded). This episode is also the first in a new series known as 404s of the World, where on the fourth day of each month, I go over a brief history of a locomotive numbered 404 on a railroad's all time roster.
In honor of the Long Island Railfans who inspired me to railfan, this episode of Remarkable Engines will consist exclusively of video footage (about two thirds of which is my own footage from previous videos) with four of my favorite songs over the past year of narrated videos. I would like to thank all of you for your great support for the past year, and stay tuned for the great journey to come!
