Liked #130. I like the way you have yourself on the lower left. This is one of my to do list of aerial video as my bucket list, haha. This beautiful place, which I have not yet been to, is like Venice. Tomorrow at around 6 pm, thousands of tourists arrive and then all disappear again in the evening. Lovely and informative video. Do you have any recommendations on where to stay? We were thinking of staying in St. Malo. But it seems you actually stayed at the base of Mont St Michel.

Hi there! Glad you enjoyed my Mont St Michele video. We stayed on the island at La Vielle Auberge - checked in at the restaurant, and they put us in a room up the hill near the base of the Abbey. It is more expensive to stay on the island. Many people stay on the mainland and ride the shuttle back and forth. I believe the shuttle is free and runs without interruption from 7:30am to midnight - so you can still walk around after sundown and ride the shuttle back (just don't miss the last shuttle - you have to walk out to the bridge to catch it heading back). Be sure to see the Abbey - I loved it - and have a separate video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-je5H4lAjGsI.html We didn't visit St Malo, although I wish we did - it also looks like a beautiful spot. I plan to book a stay in the cheapest lowest quality hotel on this island, and spend night exploring these enchanted streets while they are empty!! Can anyone share any information on how many hotels are on the island itself, and what a standard nightly cost would be?

Hi there! From what I see with hotel searches, there are no budget hotels on the island, and prices in October would be around 175 to 245 Euros a night, and more expensive during high season. However, you can also enjoy the island at night without staying at an island hotel - the shuttle buses run until quite late from the mainland village - where they are lower priced (such as 80 Euros/night in October for Hotel Gabriel), also more during higher season. Just be sure not to miss the last bus from the island, and give yourself ample time to walk to the bus stop on the bridge 😀. Thanks for watching, and have a great day 👍

@@HaswellTravelled Thanks! Well I suppose my next question is what would happen if I miss the last shuttle bus? Would I be allowed to wonder the island till dawn without having to worry? You see my main objective is to stay outside and embrace the ghost town through out the night. Hence the hotel incase I simply get too sleepy!

Hi there! Honestly, I don't know the answer to your question. I would guess you are stuck on the island until next shuttle in the morning, but I'm not the expert on this. If you do go, be sure to have a flashlight as some walking paths & stairsways are very dark at night - and carry extra batteries if you think you could be out there for many hours. Hope you get to visit this amazing place. If you are able, I also suggest a visit to Dinan - a fabulous walled medieval old town about 1 hour drive SE of Mont Saint-Michel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mr8f1HWOfaI.html We visited Dinan in the morning prior to driving to Mont St Michel in the afternoon. We liked it very much and wished we had spent a night in Dinan as well. Enjoy your trip!

Hi. Nice you are also going to Honfleur. One night would probably do if you spend a full day there. Check out its small museums if you like that sort of thing (we didn't have time - but I wish we did). If you have a car and stay longer, maybe consider a side day-trip to Etretat (we didn't have time ourselves). Doing so, you may spend an extra night or two. We miss France!

Hi. The hotel we stayed at was "La Vielle Auberge". It is a bit pricy but we wanted to stay on the island. We liked it - no complaints. Check in and out is at the restaurant. Our room, as you saw in the video, was in a smaller stone building closer to the base of the Abbey. Pack lightly as it is hard to carry suitcases up inside Mont St Michele. We left our larger suitcase in the car at the parking lot (for 2 nights), and took a smaller case up to Mont St Michele. If you stay on the mainland with less expensive hotels, there is a free shuttle bus that runs from morning until evening (check times for time of year). The parking lot is also on the mainland, and the shuttle takes you to Mont St Michel. You will enjoy it when you go.
