This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava.

Nightwish have polarized fans and critics on every single album since Dark Passion Play - never listen to what a few loudmouthed opinions try to tell you lol. Especially since the popularity of reaction videos exploded during the pandemic, so did the fan base as the Floor's stratospheric vocals in their live performances brought in a new era of mainstream audiences. Because the music of Nightwish has such universal appeal, the new fandom became enamoured with their live videos only. Many newer fans insist that their live versions are better than the studio recordings, and have not even taken to dive into their groundbreaking symphonic production to take in all the nuances and intricacies of the exquisite London orchestra and choir. Nightwish albums are played by an 100 piece ensemble, not just the 6-piece band. TL;DR - Floor did her job too well in drawing new fans, but they forgot to pay attention to the whole picture of NW. If you claim to be a fan but dismiss the patience to listen what they truly are sonically, beyond their live re-arrangements, then - "yours is an empty hope".

@@shorey66 Sorry, I think you're wrong. I can hear Floor fine on all of them, on some there is the obvious choice to place Floor more with the choir. I get that you don't like that choice, but that choice IS part of those songs. You might think about why, because it might be a valid reason (as part of the story for example). Still, the words are still clearly hearable, as are the other parts of the song which you might have missed without this mix.

Happy Birthday 🎂 ❤ Today there was a pre listening session in Helsinki in a cinema Theatre. Listening to this amazing album in a movie theater was amazing. Floors singing is absolutely stunning, the last song and video had me in tears. How this album stars with classical music is amazing.

Preach brother! I've been saying the same thing to all the critics that keep thinking they know more than Tuomas an what he wanted to do with this album. The first single was objectively really poorly mixed, especially the cymbals and vocals. It's easy to get swept up by the hype when a band you like releases a new song, but it doesn't mean everything they do is flawless.

@@Hettmaraccording to you and some other but if that's what Tuomas wanted to do then that argument doesn't hold water. If that would be the case, all the songs would sound the same and they don't. Again, people don't have to like how it was mix but it doesn't mean it was mixed poorly. Cheers!

@@javirios9234 Well... there are many albums out there, even from prolific artists and bands, where the mixes or masters are questionable to say the least. For some of them, even the artists afterwards weren't too happy with it. It's not all Tuomas', right? There are people who do the mix and mastering, there are labels and publisher who have something to say about it.... I agree with Hettmar on the mix of Perfume. Most peolple critisize the buried voice. I criticize mostly the extreme compression of everything, which makes it a track without soul for me. And if that happens, that is a poorly mixed track. Of course it's always subjective, if the mix is great for you.... fine. But if sounds poor for others, pls don't try to talk them out of their opinion. Having said that, yes, the band has every right to shape their sound like they want to, and it's more than fair to let them release their full album before judging them. Still, the fan has equally every right to express their opinion, as long as it is polite.

How many times will it be said that Floor's drowning of the voice was done on purpose. The other two singles don't do that and that is proof enough for me.

Some people don’t seem to understand that for a band to survive they have to develop and change. I don’t mean within the music industry, which would like to keep them the same, but rather to develop and grow as individual musicians, which will keep them engaged and interested. It’s a lifelong process for them. I certainly don’t want them to stop.

I ended up moving from the U.S. to Finland to be with him, and it has been so magical and special. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Tuomas said this song is about people we meet along the way in life, each person represent a island, or a happening in your life, and the one steering the ship, Tuomas, or maybe you.. it could be your story right, but Tuomas proberly did write it as him steering the ship. Thats just one take on it, cause Tuomas also said the song could have a triple meaning. guees it could also be taken as the journey of the band, or a 3th option. feel some imaginarium vibes here, also some melody parts reminds a bit if the NW song Sahara.. i do think its a great song, i didnt catch it at first listen, i was also pretty tired, maybe thats why, but now i get on a journey with it, sailing this ship to diffrent island, and in the end with the pipe section we go to final port, where we do not need to visit more islands.. love it!!

First of all, HAPPY DAMN BIRTHDAY @ChaseCarneson!!!! For those of you just tuning in and subscribing to Chase....you have found one of the best. No one is more honest and upfront. I have seen Chase cry and I have seen him jump with joy. I have been looking forward to tomorrow for several months. This third release is like another course of a meal, that is likely to be a giant buffet cooked by a five star Michelin chef, and not the dread that so many were predicting after the first release. Very well said, great reaction! If a fan of "old Nightwish" doesn't like the new way Nightwish now is going they can stop listening to the newer albums and stick to the older ones. Me personally I love the way Nightwish follows since EFMB and this new album is really a masterpiece. I have listened to it yesterday evening and was very impressed, not only because of the heavier songs like this one but also about the softer ones. I love the duets of Floor and Troy, especially in Sway (reminds me of Harvest) and Lanternlight. I hope Tuomas doesn't listen to the fans that want to stay Nightwish as it has been in "older days" but follows his own way.

I'm a fairly new convert to Nightwish (2years) and have listened to every track with Floor and Anette and love the way the band has evolved. I can understand why some of the fans from the early days want the band to stay as it was but real life doesn't act like that.

This is how I see the future (part of my job, but not necessarily involving music). Tuomas will keeping writing for Nightwish as long as Floor stays with it. Floor will keep singing for Nightwish as long as Tuomas asks her. Floor has developed a powerful solo career. Tuomas has other interests besides NW. One day, one of them will tell the other they're done with full-time NW. Then Floor will go fully solo and Tuomas, based on his continuing compositional maturation, will go...fully orchestral. I await his first symphony. Or symphonic poem.

My 3 favourites from this album and none were released (Nuclear Blast stuffed up). The Antikythera Mechanism The Weave Spider Silk. All 3 are classic Nightwish. Kai's drumming on The Weave is pure Metal. He gives a Metal drumming Master Class. Omg 🤘🤘 Lanternlight. Umm Nightwish Army, please encourage Maestro to sing more. 20 plus years is a long wait between songs. His beautiful baritone voice is pure joy.

I have very bad feeling, "Lanternlight" isn't last song of the album but last song ever from Nightwish. Beautiful song... too beautiful. Tuomas is genius and tricking us constantly. Now if you think everything happened, the "film reel-thing" and the "floor faded to ghost" at very end... Entire Yesterwynde-album is beginning to end, practically entire Nightwish-journey in one album (everything packed in one - trick). Like the album is every Nightwish-song inside one album. Endlesness was last song from Marko, and last vocals, from Marko. Now this is last voice from Floor and Troy (in Nightwish). Album is also made for record listening, not touring. Not a single song, they can practically tour. So they know, they not make any tours anymore. Symbolically, Kitee/Vaasa, where everything started was last tour from Nightwish. I want to be a wrong this one :(

Happy Birthday Chase! Great reaction as always. I have a few issues, particularly with the mix but I appreciate how hard it is to balance such a complex piece with so many layers.... and despite that, this is probably the best Nightwish song in a decade. Phenomenal, and I actually had the biggest smile on my face listening to this magnificence.
