My Dad took me to the Glasgow Apollo to see Adam and the Ants in about 81/82. The show was incredible... total pantomime with the big galleon coming on stage. They were a great band with a great show. Still sound completely unique.
lol this is not rock and roll it is glam pop BTW not even as good as the Osmonds lol that is how bad this band is the musicians are awful it doesn't qualify as punk either
@@justincase7937 You're correct, not Rock'N' Roll but hardly garbage. I was 12 years old in 1980 and this band (and Adam Ant) dominated the charts for years. There was, and still hasn't been, anyone like him. You have to credit him for doing what he does brilliantly, even if it's not for you.
He reminds of Bowie during the Spiders era, but Adam has his own style and path. I admit I only know the name and ‘Good Two Shoes.’ But, after just seeing a recent video, and learning he went through a bad patch, I am diving into his career and history to fill in his story. He is definitely an important and intriguing artist.
Was such a fan and he's got such stage presence 😍 He was born to entertain. It was heartbreaking when he was unwell. So good to see him performing again as it's what he loves doing. I had my bedroom full of the bands posters. Terry Lee Mail the drummer was my first crush 😱😂 I'm 51 and still smile when I think of Adam and the Ants thanks for uploading and sharing 🤩
As this is in 1982, You Would have Thought he Had Sang 'Stand and Deliver' as he DID Wear the Highwayman Costume at the End. But He Had Sang 'Jolly Roger' In It So People Think it Is A Pirate Outfit. He Is Allways Going to 'The Prince Charming' and the 'Dandy Highwayman!!'
A couple of months later the Ants were sacked (still keeping Marco on Guitar and Chris Hughes as producer) and Adam went solo. At the time, I was very disappointed by this move. I loved this band.
@@fretboardmaster70 So this was one of their last gigs?! Seems strange they split so quickly after this gig when they were clearly going somewhere. (Or maybe they were already there. Seeing as Adam was on cereal packets etc.)
🤩 wow…lucky folks who were able to watch! In real or television…I was 11/12 , in germany…my dad was always making fun at me : what stupid jungle music you are listening to…? He couldn‘t understand…😅.. And I was so in love with this unique music… (and Adam😊)..and just had the Bravo ..(a german teen music/lifestyle magazin) …and see..now.. me 45 years later….😂 watching this upload…(thnx 🎉)…and still is fascanated by Adam and their music! ❤❤..
@@TheFunkyJawa Yes a superb track and performed brilliantly here. I always loved Physical but did love all of their B sides, particular favourites being Lady and Press Darlings. My neighbours must have hated me.
I saw Adam Ant way back in the early 1980s at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, and I could have sworn he had a horn section at the show. Anyone else there?
"Prince Charming, Prince Charming, ridicule is nothing to be scared of!" "Don't you ever, don't you ever lower yourself, forgetting all your standards!" - You Know Who 😂😉😎
А я совсем недавно случайно открыла эвту группу, в России она совсем неизвестна. И очень зря, группа уникальна, это настоящий старый рок, очень необычный. А как красив солист, ооо, это что то, сердце бьется. Великолепно!
I’ve seen DEVO live several times, and their concerts NEVER disappoint. Regarding Adam Ant… he toured a few years back (doing the Kings of the Wild Frontier album front-to-back), and his band sounded top-notch. He also played A LOT of older punk songs from the Dirk Wears White Sox era. Without hesitation, I’d rank that concert as one of the best I’ve ever seen/heard.
Devo was the first concert I'd ever been to. Weirdly, enough, it was with my church youth group. I'm pretty sure there were about 3 of us out of 20+ who actually enjoyed them. Our youth leader sat relatively still with his hands clasped, as if he were praying while trying not to look like he was praying. 🤭
I was born in America in '82 and have only just discovered Adam. Shit, he's... unbelievable awesome. I'm now (and so late to the party) an absolute devotee. What an incredible artist. Right up there with the greats IMO.
My fave track off Prince Charming is Picasso whatever it is - first album I ever had at the age of 6 - the drumming used to scare me to death in a good way! My Mum nearly didn't let me buy it because the last track was S.E.X! 'Mile High Club' was the only duff track off that L.P for me. I really liked Apollo 9 and 'Room At The Top', too. Thanks for posting 👍.
man they were so good and unique the entire band each of them were so under rated. i also shocked that Stuart didn't get famous in acting in quality film productions. He really was gifted in the arts that so many producers that could have made all the difference in his life to get him in movies he would have been stunning captivating intense along with adding his expertise into the scenes. He would been so good with horror flicks as well adding a spice of his own music to be a horror music writer. Tho he did struggle with mental illness , i think it would have been therapeutic for him to get all his knots out of his soul in writing some horror flicks imo but he wasn't an evil soul tho. He was such a squeaky clean guy that mainly just enjoyed being with his womens and that is about it.
7 times amazing artist seen pistols 6 times on reunion tours and seen adam ant seven times since 2013.look forward to it all in that place called Leicester 😀
@@markgreet3543 They sounded great. I remember Johnny shouting at someone for throwing a drink at him. And the 'we love you England' chant at the end. Was a good'n.
@@neilsun2521 yes it was a good gig, and i enjoyed all of them, ive got 250 items in my sex pistols collection as im an avid fan, also collect adam and the ants about 60 items in that collection ive met john and glen as well. Im going to see chelsea and uk subs and ten pole soon all on the same tour cheers mate.
Marco Pirrioni great guitar player....as a kid 15 years old id started learning guitar and bought a shiny columbus les paul copy...sadly it was a peice of junk ..but it looked good...i could never understand at the time how Marco with his crappy looking 1 pick up guitars...(which i now know as vintage Gibson les paul juniors with P90 pickups)...could sound so good...like " but mines all shiny and has got more knobs and switches.." lol...that said when i saw him using a Gretsch white falcon i drooled...apparently it belonged to Adam...this and the earlier Tokyo concerts should be realeased on DVD with extras...id buy it...thanks for posting this gem....Adam Ant super underrated...a proper working class hero...like paul weller...worlds apart musically..i love them both...
my first concert was Adam Ant/Friend or Foe w Scandal as warm up. Feb 3 1983 Kirby Field House, Lafayette College Easton, PA i had to go alone. i was 14. i loved dressing up as Adam Ant!!! i do believe he re-started his show because of mic issues. showing his legendary anger. lol

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have been there (though I was only 11), but seems he should have opened with something more upbeat. Also, looks like this was two nights?
