Gloria Hendry was another favorite of mine. Although the movie wasn't top tier, she was one bad sister in " Black Belt Jones."She also had a great role in " Black Cesar" starring Fred Williamson. Thank you for the video of her singing. She also sang in Black Cesar. And yes she is still gorgeous at 71. Thanks for the update Terry!
Again another Strong Black female lead similar to Tamara Dodson. I can't even explain how great she was during my ERA the 70's. Ahead of time. If she came along today with all the streaming, firesticks, cable she would be a Superstar.
The sista is gorgeous HOT CHOCOLATE and she can scat, what a lovely lovely woman.😊 CLASS ACT very humble lovely person. Wow and she has aged like a fine fine wine. TRULY BLESSED good 💰
I loved Gloria Hendry and Pam Grier in those days! I worked at the downtown movie theatre as a teen back in the day and these movies electrified us. We saw people that looked like us on the big screen for the first time! Every weekend there was standing room only! On more than one occasion the fire department showed up and some had to leave. It was the best of times!! Good to know Gloria is still using her talents and performing.
I remember seeing all of the so-called Black Exploitation movies from the 1970's at the Adams Theater, among other movie theaters , in downtown Newark , New Jersey.
Agreed those days we packed the theaters downtown to celebrate us, they also helped us define how we chose to see ourselves as a people. Thanks to all the actors of the blaxploitatiom era
I agree with you Mr Swoopes I've always been a big fan of Ms Gloria Hendry and her films She never degraded herself in film in my opinion and i think she played strong roles also. A Big 👍s up and you are also right, Gloria is still beautiful 😊
When you say, “She looks lovely for a...” the second part cancels out the first. If you give the age, people know she isn’t in her twenties, so it’s appropriate to say, “She’s lovely.”
I agree with you. People always throw that in when someone is no longer "young". It's just become the thing to say. I'm sure it's with no harm, but it can be left out if you ask me.
Hey Swoops, thanks for posting this article about Gloria Henry (as I remember). We went to school together all 12 years, we also graduated high school together. She was a great friend back in the day. I miss the friendship we had, thanks again for this post
I would add that we; Gloria Hendry fans, were robbed of seeing her after the 1970's. Teresa Graves and Tamara Dobson didn't get enough roles either, in my opinion. Those are some beautiful women! I sure would've paid to see more of their movies. Or I would've watched more TV if these ladies had a show. I'm thinking instead of "Charlie's Angels"; which I didn't watch, we had "Chocolate Angels". I definitely would've watched that!
Gloria Hendry looks & sounds awesome. Salutes Swoopes for the extra content of her performing with her husband & being honored with the other original Black Bond women.
Yes Terry, now you know what I'm thinking about. This lady Gloria was the princess in my view and her style in the movies just made you want to see more. 🤎📽🎼🌹
I enjoy watching videos. Very informative. Have you done anything on Rosiland Cash. She was in The Omega Man in 1971. Very good. Will Smith did a great remake of that. I Am Legend. Keep up the great work.
She was a true *trailblazer* who set the bar very high on many various catagories and she's a original legend who truly inspires many and beyond the hands of time in a most gratifying fashion!!! *(Terry Swoopes/Thank You)*
Oh Terry Swoop, black don't crack! Love your stories don't stop! Let them know who paved the way for the young , black and talented of today. I loved her in black belt Jones in the" sud scene". I've never got into Bond. I always thought they were too long so now that I'm older, maybe I'll try to revisit them!
She is still absolutely gorg😍.. I think your title should say “where are they now”, when you put “this is what happens to them” it gives off a aura of something bad happened. Js
Its great to see Gloria again, I remember her and her sister Gladys from Newark, NJ back in the middle 60s, she has aged gracefully and still has that smile and cleft in her chin. She's a wonderful actress.
So much (Black) history is unknown or lost. Thanks for your research on this groundbreaking icon and Her successors! Love and Blessings, Donnie Tee from Philly.
Ms. Gloria Hendry was truly indeed the most beautiful, lovely woman that revolutionized a great role in James Bond movie and her voice is legendary as a heavenly angel! Many blessings to her and her singing career!❤🧡💛💚💙💜🖤⚘🏵🌺🌸🌼🌷💐🌹🙏🏿
One episode of RU-vid claimed that Gloria Henry was dead I didn't know that she was 71 and still alive Gloria you still look beautiful you still gorgeous keep on keeping on have mercy
Thank you Terry Swoope for this video! I’ve never heard of this Bond girl! She looks so beautiful and fabulous!! Just a gorgeous woman!! I haven’t seen this Bond movie 🍿 🎥 before! I do plan to watch it as soon as I can locate it! Thanks for sharing! I truly enjoy your videos!!
I literally feel in love with this woman more than twenty years ago when I saw Black Belt Jones!!!💓💓💓💓💞💕💕💕 And I still am in awe of her to this very day!!💯💯💯👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍
Always loved this lady - CLASSIC features !....dark skin...was just a kid when she was in James Bond, so never knew about the controversy..but it figures. May she live to 105. Glad to see she is out there still, for us to see her art.
She was a joy in BLACK BELT JONES. She was bold, Black and beautiful. And I was eleven years old.😄 Glorious Queen 👑 Gloria, truly a Classy Classic Actress! And yes, she's still just as beautiful as she was back then. Amazing Black Excellence! 😘❤️🖤💚
I have always loved Me. Gloria Henry.... Keep on going strong!! You still look good!! You remind me of Ms. Lena Horne..... You are like her very talented, and you have ever lasting bursty.
She has contributed to making women of color beautiful and worthy to play any role or position in the entertainment business. She is beautiful and phenomena. She put us on the map.
Some women make aging something to look forward to. She’s a beautiful woman. I’m learning so much about aging gracefully from older women who have taken great care of themselves and have embraced their natural bodies.
I definitely remember she did well as a bond girl, in fact there was No black quarterbacks either playing Division 1 football. Don't remember any confusion about her. Very classy Terry at the end of this video. Good job
Wow! Gloria has always been and will always be a positive role model and a trailblazer for strong black women to look upon. Black Women, confidence in self, and knowing that we started civilization should help you all with any negativity that’s thrown in your path. Be well all.
