Molly's backstory is going to hit them even if he's no longer with them... Or maybe they will do The thing? ----- No I do not own any of this. This all belongs to Critical Role RU-vid: / criticalrole Twitch: / criticalrole
He wouldn't be annoyed, if anything I imagine he's giddy at the prospect of Molly's backstory potentially coming into the foreground with these developments. I remember him saying something like that on a Talks once that he expected and was excited to see how Molly's past would come back to haunt the campaign, because it's not like Matt would take those elements out of the world just because his character didn't live to see them through.
But like why!!! The number 9 was known to be specific to cp2 before it started. How is it that they decided that there group name is The Mighty Nein! Like that can’t be a coincidence
I know this was passed off mostly as a joke but I can't help but feel that the "remember Molly, he was insufferable" line was said in character out of desperation to stop feeling the pain. Beau kept Molly's things and even got a tattoo for him but she is still unable to let go of the pain of him dying and I wonder if this comment is more her trying to convince herself that he was worse to make herself feel better. It's very self destructive and I think she needs a heart to heart with Caleb or Fjord.
Yeah, it’s nuts, I bet when Matt was conceiving of this plot with the city and then molly, when they decided to call themselves the mighty nein?He was like, oh shit 😂
I'm excited for Molly to possibly come back, but at the same time I don't want Caduceus to leave us just yet. Maybe Matt will make it so they have to hunt down Molly because he isn't in his grave
@@hyperscapeenki1293 No one, not even them knows when that will be. I remember Matt mentioning in a Talks Machina episode that the campaign would probably end when everyone's storylines are finished and I don't think we're there just yet
If they do bring back Mollymauk through a rez spell or something, he'll be, what, level 4? Level 5? Not great! So, switching back to Mollymauk might not really work! Although I did hear about something called the "sidekick" system in D&D? I don't know how that works, but maybe it could apply here...
From the clip at the end...if Avantica was referring to another chosen of Uk'otoa, I always thought she was referring to Vandren, or maybe Sabien. Maybe it's just color and motif association for me, but molly having nine red eyes and the snippets of his backstory we got just don't really align with the way Uk'otoa visually appears and interacts with his peeps (infinite yellow eyes, spooky dreams, general maritime background or connection with the sea). Plus Fjord's early vision of picking up the sword and seeing Vandren's reflection really makes me think.
While im sure the avantika tattoo clip at the end was just added because it also referenced molly's nine eyes, i do NOT think there's any relation between molly's and avantika's. Avantika's chest tattoo was something she got in reverence to uka'toa, while molly's were something he just woke up with, and we aren't really sure molly's red spots were actually tattoos, considering they just showed up, randomly spouted blood when he wanted them to, and had some magical effect, not to mention the fact that they mysteriously couldn't be removed or covered in any way. I also dont think there's any relation to uka'toa's counterparts either, considering all of molly's are all red, which isn't related to any of the entombed gods
I really hope Molly can come back he was my absolute favourite of the party. It would be great if they can ork out a way to do it without forcing Talisan to pick between his characters or do an awkward Scanlan Terry thing
They’re talking about a living city in the astral plane. At this point, I think anything’s possible. Especially if Molly is somehow connected to this thing.
@@willnelson9906 I know, I know. I just want him to so, so, so bad. It doesn't really matter what I want, but I was heartbroken after seeing him die. It killed me genuinely because I see so much of myself in him.
6:23 I’ve forgotten so I need someone to recap please. Did Molly’s soul get put in the beacon because he died in it’s proximity? Is there a way, besides Wish, to ensure that it’s Mollymauk & not Lucien who comes back? And did they protect Molly’s gravesite with any spells?
No - you have to be consecuted in order to go into the Luxon Beacon, and there's not any hard evidence Molly was consecuted. His backstory doesn't match a consecution either, although it could have been some kind of failed attempt?
@MyRYNOrunsHot MyRYNOrunsHot ok, but theoretically let’s say Molly was already consecuted. Could Molly’s soul take over Lucien’s *mostly* dead body, if the beacon was nearby? If that’s the case, would Molly have needed to be consecuted again in his new-ish body to have his soul “saved” by the beacon? I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I’m so confused!
Dani Gee you’re almost an expert at this stuff. Do you recall if Molly’s grave was protected by anything? And what exactly is Matt’s rules for resurrection? I can’t bring myself to rewatch all this stuff 😢
@@aimeepollock2943 I'm not Dani obviously but from memory, no there aren't any uhh protective spells on his grave. In saying that, after they found Caddy & dealt with Lorenzo & co, when they happened to travel past his grave Cad cast a spell (that might be a homebrew, I'm not sure) called decompose on his body so that the "earth will remember him." A spell which bizarrely enough does NOT affect resurrection at a later date.
