Remember Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy? | Midway's Psychic Power Shooter

Psi Ops is one of Midway's best titles, and even that isn't enough for them to green light a sequel to the game. Meanwhile other great games like The Suffering and Area 51 both received follow ups, Psi Ops is left in the ruins of a now collapsed empire of Midway.
Let's take some time to remember this game for all the greatness it had to offer.

Video got copyright claimed on 5 seconds of a The Who song @ 18:48. I made a cheesy joke and did the "Yeahhhhh" part of the song, like the intro to a CSI Miami episode. So, it will be muted so I can make a few pennies on the video. If that part is just trash now, I apologize.

Until I read your comment, I honestly thought that part was intentionally silent to emphasize the joke being unfunny, like the puns she makes throughout the game. Guess I have a awkward sense of humor lol. Nice video btw. My only experience with this game was playing a demo of it on PS2 years back when I was a kid, so I appreciate your vid for bringing back some old memories and showing me what I missed out on all those years ago.

I am solely responsible for at least 10 copies of that game being purchased for the PS2 at Walmart, I found it when I was in like 5th or 6th grade, bought it and fell in love with the psychic powers and the story. After that I let several of my friends borrow it, at least 6 of them, for a day or two and I think all but 1 bought their own copies and one of them got 3 copies of it because his dad wanted a copy and so did his big brother. It was revolutionary to have telekinesis at that level back then IMO, and the idea of being a psychic secret agent absolutely blew my mind as a child, 10/10 memories

The memory I had with this game is vivid at best. But one that stuck in my mind the most is the intro CGIs. The soldier got his arm blown off but still kept running toward hail of bullet. I know it just a CGis and not the gameplay itself. But this scene pick my interest and set the tone of the game for me back then. Shame there are probably no more on this game since that stupid lawsuit and Midway's demise.

You have no idea how happy I am you made a video on Psi-Ops. I feel like for the longest time I’ve recommended it to people and no one I know has ever played it. Imo it is the quintessential example of a hidden gem. By no means was it a perfect game but man was it fun and it had a super cheesy but decent story to it. It had some amazing bosses with and characters powers were bad ass. I truly hope that some day we will see a remake or maybe a sequel. In the mean time I’ll make do with Control unfortunately it has no head popping :(. Videos like this are why I love your channel.

Psi-Ops is one unique third person shooters that no one ever talks about, and it’s a midway game. Don’t know why’s forgotten here. The telekinetic abilities were amazing in this one,so does any other powers we get. It’s a combination of both shooting and using psionic powers.

The fact that this never got a sequel is one of the greatest tragedies in the history of video games. I LOVED this game (and relayed Cold's music video over and over again from the Playstation CD as it wasn't available online at the time). I really loved this concept and wanted a sequel so bad. Hopefully someone someday will create a modern day game with this theme and current engines to deliver a stunningly beautiful and enjoyable experience of tossing people around like rag dolls :)

Awesome game, well, those invisible one hit kill enemies and some of the bosses suck, but overall a great game. I miss the attention to detail and over the top physics games like this had. One of my absolute favorite moments in the game is a pretty innocuous one seen at 2:50. In the level, you're SUPPOSED to run across the bridge walkway and take the elevator up to the next floor, rinse and repeat. Well... I felt like doing things differently, so I used the telekinesis to levitate myself up and up, bypassing the need for the elevator entirely. Sure it took forever, but the fact that it could be done was a marvel in and of itself. Games that let you think outside the box are the most fun.

Always hoped for a remaster or atleast a new game had so much potential as a series.

Played this on my PS2 way back in the day, flinging ragdoll soldiers was pretty fun, the story is ok, and that exclusive song by Cold was lit.

I played every inch of this game while going through a bad break up during the summer of 2004 right before I left for college.

every once in a while I think of this game. So unjustly forgotten and never got the sequel it deserved

I loved this games sandbox/training area. Just messing with the abilities and throwing soldiers around.

when killing enemies while using auera view, you can see their souls leaving their bodies. i spent most of my time playing the arena training center thing where you can spawn different ai and have them fight each other and stuff.
