Monster Hunter is a series where lore is usually researched and interpreted in many different ways. With that said though, sometimes Capcom throws an odd ball of a lore when it comes to certain monsters. And that's exactly what happened with Fatalis

The time and space distortions would explain why the monster hunter world sees a lot of collaborations I mean visitors from other worlds and don’t seem to bring it up that much because they forgot or are just null to these occurrences at this point (I mean in Rise at least we had sonic and tails appear in the shrine ruins during an event quest and we had to collect those rings so they could return home also kill a nargacuga because it looked like shadow or in the case of world where the most noteworthy examples are Geralt of Rivia and the behemoth)

It's heavily debated right now on what is considered canon or non canon. The only reason both Dragalia Lost and the MH Movie are considered canon is because they have lore that follows the MH series and ties it together. FFXIV might be potential canon since they did get the Rathalos and there's background info on the Rathalos and the MH NPCs involved in the event. The Witcher one is a bit more difficult to confirm because there's no MH content in the Witcher series to tie it together. End of the day, outside of the MH Movie and Dragalia Lost, the other collabs are quite open for interpretation.

Something else to remember: other parts of Fatalis's section may support this notion of it being an interdimensional traveler. It's noted to not possess Elder Dragon Blood, one of the few things Elder Dragons have in common, which may suggest it's not a native of the MH world since it lacks one of the defining biological traits that creatures of its basic structural build possess. Combined with the mystery behind how and why it's so powerful, this could hint to it being a wholly unnatural creature that hails from another dimension, though where it was a unique aberration even in its true home universe or not is another question entirely. Also, for those who hate the MH live-action movie, just remember that this only confirms that the film exists in the same multiverse, like the one the MCU is leaning heavily into now. Given the extreme and irreconcilable differences between the movie's version of the MH world and the main canonical game version, it's likely that it's a variant universe, one where there are similarities but also differences. Artemis didn't create a Bootstrap Paradox like she thought, but instead simply made a mistake about which universe she was in.

@Broomer52

Theirs so much that points to Fatalis just being unnatural. The biggest being its power of regeneration. Even if the rumors in game of Fatalis armor eventually consuming the wearer to become a new Fatalis aren’t true. Theirs plenty of good reason for people to believe it is. The Giant Sword made out of a Fatalis is always regenerating as if it’s alive. It’s not hard to believe that if left alone it would form back into the Dragon itself. That right there is just beyond science, even the science of this world.
@proffesorspiderlastname5654
So the ancient civilization at Schrade experimented with something (either monsters powers or something else) found a way to tear holes in reality which is likely how fatalis actually got there and is why they stay in the area and now the entire world is affected by these distortions every so often.

That's why the MH movie isn't canon to the main timeline. Instead, it could (and most likely will) be a variant universe of the main one. When I first heard about this I had a particular thought about Safi'jiiva If I'm not misremembering, the Iceborne lorebook also states that Safi'jiiva would have been strong enough to rival Fatalis had we not stopped it(I can't remember the exact quote but it was something like that I think), so, considering how Monster Hunter is all about ecological balance and the like(with the final boss usually being a monster that defies such balance, hence why we have to stop it), I kinda had my own headcanon that maybe Safi'jiiva was the world's counterbalance to Fatalis, like how the body reacts to a disease, you know? Fatalis in this case is a completely foreign ecological threat, and because of that nature eventually creates a response to it, one that is equal on scale, and thus, balance is restored yet again But that's just my own theory EDIT:Minor spelling corrections

Idk why but I love the idea of Fatalis being made more and more absurdly strong until we all realize it's just messing around/testing certain hunters/some other nonsense but will eventually get bored and destroy everything with a blink. But also being a fan of this series as long as I have been I don't actually trust Capcom to do anything deeply interesting with the world or story or lore. I hate this... i really hate this... It just makes the lore of mh way more convoluted if we got things basically time traveling and people forgetting about it. I feel as if iceborne broke the lore heavily sense they said safi rivals fatalis, the fatalis we fight in iceborne was the first truly recorded kill of a fatalis and the alatreon records were burned even though A. Fatalis was known to be a ungodly cresture, beyond a monster and the hunters seen it as the most terrifying thing around so why would nature attempt to kill it when its already technically a single version of its kind or 2 if we count white fatalis B. Alatreons records were always a thing and a hunter in another village kill one so why would they be like 'no that doesnt exist' and C. In general... uncanonizing white and crimson almost but also say they're canon is just... what in the holiest of fucks. This shit is going a bit too far, and as i said, i blame iceborne for causing these changes to the lore and making it so much more fucking convoluted
@julielandherr4686
@julielandherr4686 Год назад
Well, Fatalis was never planned on being in I.B., that was a pretty late change of plans by the development team, so... Yeah. It's gonna' get sloppy there. To the point that, since the rest of the story was not made with that in mind, and there are multiple conflicts of canon that arise from it, I'd say it's best to regard the I.B. Fatalis encounter as non-canonical. It's not like the M.H. series hasn't done things in the past - even with cut-scenes and plot and junk - that must necessarily be non-canonical in order for the universe to hold up properly. Behemoth by itself - with one Ecliptic Meteor (or whatever the official name of that move was, I can't remember) - would be able to just basically extinct the entire Elder's Recess, but that clearly isn't the case. And in the Witcher cross-over, where a Pukei is shown to be of some advanced level of sapience, which isn't indicated anywhere else in the series. Then again, with the whole Tail-Rider system or whatever it was called, it implies that lots of small monsters are actually sapient enough to be able to communicate with Felynes, and work cooperatively with not only them, but human hunters as well, so... Kind of a messy situation in the first place. Either way, the M.H. series is pretty obvious about not having lore come first, and is pretty sloppy and slap-dash with additions and edits and last-second alterations without taking the rest of the game, or the series for that matter, into account. So, the best we can do as a community, until they release some sort of M.H. Bible that accurately describes which things are and are not canonical, in which order, and that logic stands up to scrutiny (since you can't just assert something to be true if it is mutually exclusive to another point that is asserted to be true, one of those then has to be false, or you have to write an explanation around that that works), is just try to find the most clean way to derive a lore from the series that has to throw away as few things as possible and still makes sense.

Isn't it just an in-universe theory though? With how rare Fatalis is and how little is known about it, a researcher coming up with that theory isn't too crazy. People in universe believe elder dragons like Kushala to be gods, but that doesn't mean they are. Theres also Dire Miralis and Alatreon who are related to Fatalis, and not only that Dire Miralis and Fatalis are classified as "origin dragons" in the ED taxonomy tree, and are considered the common ancestor of all Elder Dragons. I doubt it's true unless Fatalis coming through a portal happened hundreds of millions of years ago.

Guys do any of you remember evolve the game now imagine if Monster Hunter the people who own Monster Hunter and run it but the game and the rights to evolve keeping basically everything the same but having one of these convergence having a weird space and time distortion and taking creatures from the evolved Planet like say all of a sudden teleporting you like say a giant continent into somewhere middle of the ocean and then have some Hunters to investigate the island and then coming across Goliath and all the other evolve creatures but I can definitely see Monster Hunter monsters being able to handle them here and there I mean evolve Monsters weren't able to say going to the water or fly they could only float or hover and then burst in the air to go faster nothing involving flights there was flight it would be short-term and if it was the ability to swim you'll be short-term too so there's a limit to their evolution point but not to Evolution point for their bodies they can get bigger stronger more powerful just imagine them being exposed to dragon energy I can definitely see the Monster Hunter organization would want to study some of these creatures and the main reason for it to being an island a pretty big island though but an island because it will keep creatures from going to the mainland and vice versa on the stair because I can fly long distances and very quickly and swim very far and we would be able to get like new fighting animations that would be amazing and if the time and space distortion was strong enough it could possibly leave permanent portals here and there that wouldn't take you to your how the ground map it will take you to like another well planet but only like a medium and small creatures could fit you would consider small and let's say gormagala will be considered medium so we wouldn't have gigantic kaiju-size creatures like I can't remember the names like the lava snapping turtle dude that's literally a volcano on legs and the giant snake m*********** this would definitely make things more interesting and on the island you could have some areas that are a bit sort of cracked up like broken a bit but also other areas like flooded you give it to look like oh it really just came out of nowhere in order for to settle on to the ocean floor it had to crumble a bit in order to settle on the ground I'm not saying it's sinking I'm just saying it broke up a bit in order to be even on the ocean floor so it's a bit chaotic here and there let me seriously think about it double Joe that giant pickle fighting against Goliath the combined Godzilla King Kong alien version fighting each other

As long as nobody talk about it, it's fine, maybe they can put easter-eggs in a ramdom house or something with a painting. HOWEVER, it would be sick as hell this weird multiverse-shit could allow Frontier's or even Online's monsters to truly come back to the franchise. But truly canonized i mean into the MH lore. Overall i would like that aspect to be truly erased from everyones mind. YET if they insist on that aspect, then *go-on !* and bring back Online's monsters !

All of them exist in the same timeline. Every NPC you ever come across between First to 4th Gen appears in MHGU and they regale the stories they experienced in the past. Also Gen 3 is in MHGU, it's represented by Yukumo as opposed to Moga. The reason simply being that each hub village originates from each of the Portable Games because the director of MHG is Yasunori Ichinose (MH Rise Director) who directed all previous Portable games, so each previous gen hub is from a Portable title (Kokoto: MH Freedom, Pokke: MH Freedom 2, Yukumo: MHP3rd). If the case was that a certain hub represented a generation, then 2nd Gen shouldn't exist in the same timeline because Jumbo Village isn't in MHG either

Feels like they're just trying a bit too hard to make mh a multimedia franchise if they're heading towards direction of making the Anderson film canon. I don't mind the film with all its ghetto stuffs but it is pretty aggravating to see it and the whole space distortion bullshit being forced in the main lore with little to no backing or buildup. At this point anything can be isekaid to mh world and it'll be considered canon on a just cause basis, which is an entirely different can of worm but is equally stupid in my opinion considering it's an overly used concept these days. It would have been one thing if they made an original monster close to fatalis in terms of power actually show it being done in the film but the closest we got to this whole space rip is White Fatalis creating an eclipse and descending from it.
