Don’t forget to clean out your rooftop dryer vent. Out of sight, out of mind! The buildup of lint can make your dryer less efficient, which will really increase your dry times.
Makes total sense given the lint buildup and the fact that the average homeowner may not get on their roof to inspect it. It looks like quite a few of the rooftop dryer vent jacks come with a screen to “prevent rodent entry.”
As someone who professionally cleans dryer venting systems I strongly recommend removing the screen. If pests getting in the vent are an issue there are covers designed to keep pests out without restricting flow or air and lint. Also recommend moving vent from the roof to gable wall to facilitate inspection and cleaning.
Where can I find covers that don't prevent airflow!? I can't find any videos on this...I just keep hearing ppl complain about the chicken wire being a fire hazard. I am not lazy & always check my dryer vent every 3 - 6 months lol thx
Inovate’s Dryerjack is a great product for a rooftop termination. I do professional dryer vent cleaning and only recommend their products. They also have wall vents, and a great product called “DryerFlex” for your transition hose that won’t crush or kink. Extremely inexpensive way to have peace of mind.
