Original tape date: July 28, 2007.
In tribute to writer/director Arthur Laurents who died recently at age 93, we are repeating one our favorite Laurents' interviews. Taped in 2001, shortly after the co-creator of WEST SIDE STORY, GYPSY and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, had written his memoir, ORIGINAL STORY BY, this conversation will remind viewers why Laurents will be revered as a great genius of the theater for years to come.

This man is so contrary!! I live! The interviewer is clearly quoting from his book and he’s still disagreeing him even though he wrote the damn thing. I see what Harvey Fierstein, Sondheim et al meant when they say, “well, it’s Arthur Isn’t it” 😅😅😅
