I had the absolute honor and Privilege of working under 5his great coach for two seasons. I will be forever grateful and my memories are forever special.
BO LAST WORDS i will never forget the cold gray morning that fall. Driving up to my son's elementary school, listening to WTKA live Bo interview, about the next day's game with OSU. We hung on every word and I thought Bo sounded weak then the guy asked how Bo would feel for the game, Bo said "don't worry about me" and I felt chills. Then as we drove up the bell rang and sounds of life took over, as kids rushed into the school. Minutes later Bo left WTKA for Ch 7 interview and died at studio.
I had several opportunities to talk with Bo and always came away ready to put on the pads..great man, Great communicator, great family man..one of a kind
I am a Southerner, but my dad used to work up there and brought me back Michigan hats and and a Michigan jersey. I was a big fan of Bo. I miss that Michigan.
There are two coaches that come to everyone's minds when they think of the history of Big Ten football, one coached at a school that shall remain unsaid for respect to michigan fans, and the other one is Bo.
Great stuff - Bo, the Great Man. Neighbors of Bo's used to talk about Bo coming across the lawn just to chat. Lots of stories - all good ones because he was truly a good man. Good for his players, good for Michigan, good for Ann Arbor. We really miss you, Bo.
A class act. It was always about his student athletes. He got the most out of everyone. They say Bo never lost a game. Sometimes he just ran out of time
God bless this Great Meeechegan Man. I can see them now, legends from days gone by like Bo Schembechler, Knute Rockne, Ara Parseghian, LaVelle Edwards, Bear Bryant, and yes Woody Hayes among others, coaches from days gone by up there as the coaching staff of Heavens team. Goblue!
My favorite Bo moment was when he appointed Steve Fisher to coach the basketball team during the NCAA tournament and said "A Michigan Man will coach Michigan, not an Arizona State man." Fisher led the Wolverines to the title.
I love that passion that could only come from a person from Ohio Love Bo Schembechler how he could have been so misguided I can only understand by reading his book LOVE THE GUY even though I am a Buckeye through and through
@dfwgator3 I remember that. I had moved to New Mexico from Michigan. I was playing basketball and had to explain to my friends why he'd do that just before the tournament. The second incident I distinctly remember having to explain Bo's actions, is when they fired Gary Moeller, his hand picked successor, when Gary had the drunken disturbance incident while recruiting. I again was explaining to friends, why they fired him, even told them he was done, before it happened.
Bo Schembechler - hated him while he coached at that team up north. Cried when he died the day before the biggest game of the rivalry. He is a true champion....but Meechigan still sucks! Thank you for sharing!
A flood of memories while watching this video. One of the greatest football coaches in history and a true leader of men. Where is the Bo that Michigan so desperately needs? Also who is the douchebag moron that gave this video a thumbs down? I don't care if that idiot is a Buckeye or Sparty, any true football fan would respect the man that Bo was, just like Wolverines give their respect to Woody and Duffy. @greymoose1000 Yes, because beating a team by 3, by 7 by 8 and by 7 is "beating the shit out of them." Especially when you factor in a phantom TD by Charles White (fumble the ball away at the 2, TD USC!) or a phantom holding call on Chris Stapleton in his final game. USC was the same then as what they became under Pete Carroll. They just never got caught. Fight on! And keep paying your players!
The Victors, winged helmets, maize and blue, Chrysler, Yost, Schembechler, Carr, Ufer, the winningest college football program of all time, have your fun now Ohio State. Michigan football will be back soon. You can bet your cottin' pickin' Maize and Blue hearts on that.
I can speak for a lot of us in the football world, if I wasn't a buckeye, I would be a Wolverine.You can lie and whine and blah blah blah some lip service, but there are an awful lot of Wolverines that would be Buckeyes, if it worked out a little different. Great story, Chris Spielman has 70some tackles against the Blue in his 4 years. If the die rolled a little different, he would have been a michigan man.
too bad it didn't show him celebrating Anthony carter's td run against Indiana..or him being carried on his shoulders after he beat o st in '69..otherwise, a nice tribute..
