SPECIAL REPORT Israel Kamakawiwo'ole!
* Today June 26th 2015 marks the 18th year since Hawaii's most notable musician "Israel Kamakawiwo'ole" passed away June 26, 1997.
Born "Israel Ka‘ano‘i Kamakawiwo'ole" May 20, 1959. I still alive today, Israel would now be 56 years old. Israel was the third child born of parents "Evangeline Keale Kamakawiwo‘ole" and husband "Henry Kaleialoha Naniwa Kamakawiwo'ole" on the island of Oahu at Kuakini Hospital May 20, 1959.
Uploaded on my recent RU-vid channel is the video that tells the story of this tragic time in Hawaiian history recorded in 1997.

I discovered Iz a year ago. Without realizing who I was listening to, I had heard his music before. My son also suffers from obesity which no one understands and everyone ridicules with out understanding the causes. So Iz is my hero because he can be a role model and a beacon for people like my son who are made to feel "less than" by people who cruel and unfeeling. He will always live on.

But I have had other problems with many struggle's and been judged by people who had NO COMPASSION, JUST JUDGING ME FOR thing's I could not control. Lived in Makaha as a small kid in the 70s and the Sons use to sing in the bar my older sister worked at. I remember running around in the bar and watching them sing. Good memories. The bar was on the second floor and they had to reinforce the floor for the guys. Big guys big talent. Big aloha.

I first discovered bruddah IZ when I for landed on kaneohe bay oahu. I was stationed there while I was in the marine corps. I loved it instantly. Once I left I took him home with me to the east coast of Massachusetts where I still live. My dream is to move back to oahu where I left my soul. It's where I really belong. IZ helped me to realize that. Mahalo big bruddah! \m/

First time I heard your music was in 2003 when I first discovered the ukulele and bought me one , but I was sad you were gone but you left us with your beautiful gift all your music and your Aloha , my kids know about you and so are my grandkids , and will teach them to play ukulele with your beautiful songs , GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER IZ 🙏🙏

It has been 18 years .. OMG .. I only knew about his story only now .. My gosh where was I. Well, the reason is I just started playing Ukelele and I want to learn the song .. Somehwere Over The Rainbow - so I got curious hearing his version ....Oh my what a man! Then I checked on all the videos and here I am soaked in tears. Why o why ... he passed away too soon. Yes, his memory lives and as for me ... I just met him. One great super hero! .. I am so inspired now to play the Uke. ... Thank you Iz.

Yes Iz did battle obesity, but I'm sure people understand his health was. Because of genitics, , most of his immediate family had the same problem. No fault of their own. But one thing for sure is his voice was as big as the entire universe. I love him because of his music and ha e me er met him. But I feel that I have been knowing him all my life. He brought so much joy to do many. Iz , I wish you have not left us. But I hope to see you in the new system that God promises. Luv you my h Iz.

The guy said towards the end of this video that hearing IZ music live is where you felt his love. I can feel his love in his music and I’ve never met that man. He would had been five years older then me. It will reach future generations as long as there is recording of him. God bless you IZ I love you and your beautiful words of compassion and love.

I always loved the song," Over The Rainbow" as a child I would sing this song. I visited the island many years before I heard of Iz. It wasn't until about 3 years ago I heard him sing for the first time. It wasn't just his Angelic voice which touched my heart and soul. It was his kind spirit and his love for his people.

I didnt know that his birthday is the same as my son, Jeffrey, who introduced IZ's voice to me..Jeffrey said to me.."Mom listen to this song, In This Life, . When I listened I fell in love right there..then my husband heard the song and he was so inlove with the song..that is when I studied how to dance hawaian..when I dance this song I always danced from my heart..so special..the only music I would danced..thankyou IZ....will always love you❤️❤️❤️

I first heard his voice on 50 firsts dates , the movie . I did not know he had passed away in 97 , his voice was and is still amazing and makes me cry because he is sooo beautiful . I just watched his documentry and cried thru it . he was an amazing musician and his voice amazing , one of a kind . I my love to you and family and Hawaiian .

he had the mist beautiful voice thry music and thru the way he spoke,I will allways love his mudic ,my most favorite is over the rainbow,,,,,,And I am courious I thought I heard he has a child and was married a short time did his child get that wonderful voice and did he has a son or daughter and alloud to see that child ? if not his ex was a very cruel human being not to let hid child get to know him and carry on his or her fathers voice and music, so sad ,they say he was kind to children why not his own, RIP IZ and I hope ur voice comes thru ur child some day,RIP With the dolphins and may the rainboys lay on ur shoulders forever , RIPIZ 😞😭😥😪

Mary and I were at a KVMR concert in Nevada City listening to Cyril Patanui (spelling) when Cyril came out after break and said that IZ had just died . A pall came over the audience that seemed to last forever--until tears and sobbing 😭 was all you could hear. I don’t know who started singing Aloha oi’ but it was very cathartic--I’m 82 now and Mary is on the other side but l still tear up for his beautiful soul . I know she’s able to listen to him on Waikiki beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian.

I found IZ music from listening to Jack Johnson another fantastic Hawaiian musician. I had no idea he had passed. I was only 11 when he died. I'm so sad right now. 😢
